Silly boy, all the team were told about this pre-season. From the sounds of it, it's 'innocent' betting on matches unrelated to Ipswich Town and the punishment will be a fine. Still naive though, but he is only a young lad.

To be honest I don't think it's such a bad crime if he's betting on matches that have no relevance on Ipswich Town or the division they play in. Sadly what does make it a crime nowadays are the people who do match fix for their own gain. End of the day rules are rules and those few who exploit the opportunity ruin it for the many innocent parties.

I don't really know why they changed it to be honest. I thought the old rule of not being allowed to bet on competitions your club is involved in was fine but I guess they wanted to make it easier. Just seems silly that a 19 year old playing for York can't stick a tenner on Barcelona to beat Real Madrid.
