I’m starting to think DJ just wants to be a free agent in the summer.

Why would we offer less than Pools or Colchester? makes no sense to me if we want him something doesnt seem right with all this.

Apparently we had a bid accepted from Mansfield for Danny Johnson & we offered him 50% more than what he's on at the Stags.
Unfortunately he doesn't want to come with us being 3rd bottom.
So it doesn't look like Raj is at last loosening the purse strings.
A bit late if you ask me though.

Tyre kicker Raj strikes again

Be buzzing when we sign an U21 from Sheff United on the 31st

Probably waiting for Wrexham to jump in with stupid money.

I also heard we offered him a bumper deal.

Late in the day all this, why weren't we in for these kind of players in the summer. Just a total lack of foresight, do everything on the cheap, go in blind and when it inevitably doesn't work offer what we always potentially could but now no one wants to come as we are shit.

I doubt he’s on much more.

I suspect there’s a few clubs who would pay him £6,000 p/w - City being one of them.

Stockport, Swindon and Salford, too.
Blimey. Do you really think we pay anything near that? Austin may be on a bit, but nowhere close to approaching that

I don’t think any player in this league (maybe bar some loans) is on £6k a week. Neither should they be.

I was told Charlton offered Macauley Bonne £6k a week - more than double what we offered him.

We’ve spent some money for sure, but our board have a wage structure in place which they won’t break. Part of the reason we’ve done well to this point is the spirit and harmony created within the squad - no one is paid tonnes more than anyone else.

Nigel Clough mentioned in an interview last week that Johnson had said he wouldn't be signing anywhere for longer than the next six months, so presumably fancies himself to keep scoring and have a pick of offers in the summer I guess.

Quigley is on £8k a week - well documented in the non-league part of the forum...

Happened to us last season we had 3 players lined up that would more than likely have kept us up but we lost at Morecambe and they decided they didn’t want to get involved with the shit show we are

There was an article on the Mansfield local paper sent out last week (the Chad) which has a list of the top 20 highest paid players. The first 7 were loan players and the highest permanent was Dominic Telford at 4.4k. Horsfall is on 4.3k then our Jonny Williams is on 4.1k.

I've no idea how accurate this list actually is but figured it was worth sharing.

It’s a load of made up rubbish, think Doncaster even tweeted about it.

Longstaff salary is actually 20k+ according to the Athletic, although I don’t think Colchester are paying much if any of it at all like at Mansfield last season.

When we signed Tyler Walker in 2019? I think he was reported to be highest paid player in this division at L2 at 5k (not sure how much we paid of that) I imagine we have a select few on even more than that now at this level. Salford most definitely.

I figured it might have been. Ah well he's made a bit of money from clicks as I've shared it on our forum so fair play to him.

Taylor isn’t on anywhere near that and is contract is structured that if he’s injured he’s on less than when he plays. I doubt we have any players earning more than £3k and doubt many earn that

How much do you think you’re paying Austin?

You're joking aren't you? If any other club anywhere is linked with someone we are, there is no chance we will get them.
Well he's not coming here! we could'nt win a transfer battle against the dog & duck 3rd X1

Maybe the money we got for Reed and the comical compo for Lindsey has gone towards his salary. We do have a lot of young, inexperienced players who can’t be on much - £1500 pw maybe.

Brendan Kiernan has returned to Walsall following the expiration of his loan deal, A weird one because we seemed to play better with him in the side. So either we are waiting to announce a replacement or we are sitting on our hands waiting to sign an unproven 18 year old who has never played senior football before, ensuring our fanbase to go into a mass meltdown

Brendan Kiernan returns to Walsall.

So of our attacking players we've had in the first half of the season...

Kiernan - gone back to Walsall
McAtee - ineligble for Luton match
Simmonds - gone back to Birmingham
Richardson - injured, rumoured to be going back to Burnley
Wearne - cup tied for Luton match as we let Torquay use him
Taylor - injured for a few more months
Khan - injured for six weeks
Pepple - gone back to Luton
JMD - gone to Yeovil
O'Neill - cup tied for Luton match

Only Orsi and Scannell available for Saturday in terms of attacking players.

Even if we're waiting on a wide player to come in then Kiernan still has a place in the squad for me. This window has been an absolute car crash so far.
