Ladapo gone to Rotherham for over 500k. It's their record fee apparently.

I can potentially see Bradford doing that. However it seems that recently every club to be relegated to League 2 has done so with a squad 'that should have been challenging for promotion in L1'.... makes me wonder what's going on up there.
Our squad last year was a collection of decent individual players who simply could not play together, all signed on inflated contracts by a clueless chairman. He and his two clown head coach appointments have gone and Bowyer is building a squad solely of his own players. I'm feeling very confident for next season, everything is going well so far.

Our contribution....

1993/94 relegated from Premier League.
1994/95 relegated from Division One.
We did similar:
02/03 relegated to League 1
03/04 relegated to League 2
Then we slummed it in there for a few years before deciding we’d quite like another relegation in 09/10 down to the shit top of non league.

Didn’t Northampton once go all the way from Div 4 to Div 1 and then, straight back from Div 1 to Div 4

If Vaughan plays then he will score goals. I don't remember him having any time out in his season with us. 3 year deal sounds excessive but there you go. Donaldson looked way out of his depth at Bolton but that was the Championship and Bolton were cack. He should deffo do a job in this league even if its just helping Bradfords more attacking players score.

4th to 4th via the first: 1960/61 4th Div, 1965/66 1st Div, 1969/70 4th Div.
2 seasons each in 3rd and the 2nd on the way up and 2 seasons in the 3rd on the way back down.

4th to 1st and back again within a decade is impressive. A lot of people seem to think we did something like that but our journey took 23 years leaving the 4th division in 64 and not returning until 87, the majority of that spell was spent in the 2nd division and we still managed to get promoted into the 2nd division once during our decline. I think because we're such a small club in most people's eyes, people think if we played in the top flight , it must have been as part of a brief spell outside the bottom flight

There was something I read on twitter regarding his so called injury record, and the truth is, he hasn’t been injured for 4 years (unless somebody knows otherwise?). The reason for his low number of appearances was due to managerial discretion.

Although Donaldson is an old boy, his experience should prove to be invaluable.

Keeping Eoin Doyle is key now, for me.

Not by me it hasn't. It's pretty obvious we're paying decent wages when we were bringing in established L1 players like Michael Bostwick and uprooting Akinde from London.

But I do like our current model, which isn't solely based on a rich owner (although Clive Nates is obviously helping).

Fair enough, but it is by a quite a lot of Imps from my personal experience.

I have no problem with a owner piling in money for the squad if they also prioritise off-field revenue and facilities, although I do think Radford sanctions a budget a bit too needlessly high he’s spent many millions more on the stadium, training ground etc etc.

John Dempster conformed enquiries for Rose and CJ Hamilton, it sounded like both could be off given the correct offer although CJ will demand a huge fee.

Do you hold any predictions for L1 next season; more specifically our credentials?
I sense you think we might exit the trap door to gloom and conference.
No, I don't personally think you will drop - you have to be an abysmally bad team or have serious off-field issues to get relegated from L2. I don't think you will bounce back up again either though. Upper mid-table would be my guess, maybe scraping into the playoffs if things go well.

Signed Nigerian striker Moses Ogbu, one year deal

28 years old mainly played in the Swedish leagues, apparently can play either wing and upfront

Now we're talking, that's a real Champ Man/Football Manager signing there!

Looks to have scored some goals in the top flight in Sweden, interesting signing for sure!

Rumours we're trying to sign David Meyler from Reading, Irish midfielder ex Hull and youtuber fame.

Believe when I see it. No doubt this pre season has seem some interesting rumours and even if they haven't/don't come off, it's nice to be back to being linked to decent players.

Latest name mentioned on Exeweb is Gary Woods, goalkeeper from Hamilton Accies. Played quite a bit for Donny when they were in L1 and the Championship.

Tbh I expected Ward to be number 1 but given that Woods is more experienced I’d imagine he will want that spot.

Ajose still linked too so I am hoping for some more incomings this week.

Gary Woods has signed for us.

Hahaha I think Moses Ogbu is already my favourite Town player since Craig Disley. Fair play to Jolley, he's gone about fixing last year's striker problems pretty swiftly.

Freddy Adu has just been spotted in the Weatherspoons near the seafront...

I'm well jel that you are bringing in these legends!!

There was one version of football manager I played where literally every game I would just start and raid Sweden which had all the top players at knock down prices! Kenedy Bakircioglu was clearly the pinnacle of this, but there were some other top class Swedes you could pick up for 100k and less.

I'm going to have a nibble on Ogbu being League 2's top scorer this season.

Is 19 times in the last 27 years classed as quite frequent? Or 13 in 19? Ever so slightly more frequent since 2000 and again since 2010.

Plus Tranmere and Salford last season (although the table below doesn't cover NLN or NLS to NL so Salford probably don't need to be included).

There's also an interesting piece, albeit 3 years old, with regards to bouncebackability, promotions and relegations here:

https://www.thestatszone.com/promotion-and-relegation-in-english-football

We nearly went from Division 4 to the Premier league under John Beck, but lost in the playoffs to Leicester.

I think he is nailed on tbh mate. I always used to sign Mika Aaritalo on FM2007, he would basically guarantee you 30 goals in all the FL divisions and you could pick up him for like 15k at the start of the game. He was Finnish though, not Swedish.

Or Iceland for Orri Freyr Oskarsson and Johann Porhallsson. That was at least 70 goals a season straight away!

I shouldn't have said Sweden specifically, basically the Scandinavian region has always been rich pickings in FM!

Andri Sigborsson broke the mould for me from Iceland, another of those players whose stats weren't that great, but he would find the net for whatever side I was!
