Fan of a mediocre to terrible South Yorkshire side that isn't Doncaster, Rotherham or either Sheffield club.

Oh and just to clear something up immediately, one of these

is a teacake, and I'll fight anyone in real life who disagrees.

Think that's everything, thanks for having me :bye:

Yeah it looks like a roll to me too, the flour sprinkled over the top is an instant giveaway.

1FF - tbh I think it's a bit prickish of you to be getting people from over there.
Not really. I've noticed James as a good poster on there and decided to invite him over. Barnsley are grossly under represented on here as they were on TFF. It's not like I sent a PM to everyone on 1FF and besides that James is still a regular on there.

I believe that's two fishcakes with some unnecessary and poorly arranged parsley.

Get yourself sorted you bunch of Northern monkeys, Barnsley is probably my favourite away day in the country since having kids.

I'm familiar with "Tha laikin" but I can't honestly say I've heard of rizzoles, must be a Sheffield thing :( I grew up in the western part of the borough and there's sod all in the way of slang round here. The town centre and areas to the east are brilliant though, stuff I've literally never heard anywhere else. Favourites include "bairning" (whinging, whining, "stop thi bairnin'!") and "pillocking" (kidding, deceiving), as in the Oakwell favourite "he's pillockin' ya ref!"

Never heard it in Penistone, which is odd as it's barely 20 minutes from Barnsley. First heard it from my uncle who grew up and still lives in the middle of town, only ever heard it in pubs in the centre and at Oakwell. You're lucky if you hear the odd thee and tha round my way:sad:

I bet it's common in Dodeth tho...
I'd imagine so, that's only a couple of miles from the centre. Tha knows.

I'll allow cob as I lived in Notts for four years and there's something pleasing about the rustic, no-nonsense simplicity of the word. Muffin, roll, barm, batch or any other variation that isn't teacake can do one.
