No idea. The game at yours was a Friday too even before BT got involved, why was that? Tit for tat? Seems odd. Only 2 of our home games this season were moved to Friday night.
I don't have a PL team and nor do most Southend fans. Our last home game had 8,000 on a PL Tuesday night.
All this crying about wanting West Ham supporters from Grimsby. Get over yourselves.
FWIW I think the club should have looked at moving it back to Saturday earlier in the week. They took a punt that Roots Hall would survive and it's backfired. Such is life.
Agreed. Teams can come off the pace to reach the play-offs in a normal season when 6th/7th is looking at being 65-70 points.
We're looking at 75 minimum to get in this season with 9 teams averaging 1.64 PPG or better. To get 75 points is 12 wins and a draw from 17 for Southend. I just can't see it.
I quite enjoy that the floodlights game still gets spoken about. Do we still get called the Thames Estuary Galacticos as well?
As for Molesley chat earlier between other Shrimpers, Molesley's xG for Southend from when the embargo was lifted had us about 10th in the table (over quite a big...
I accept slight hyperbole (although not as much as your 'wildest take ever seen' reaction) but I think the bottom half of League 2 is no better. Teams like Stevenage came 14th last season in League 2. They were absolutely woeful. It is full of bad teams trying to not finish bottom 2. I've seen...
This. I have been shocked this season at how much better the top 8 or so teams in this league are than the bottom 16 of the league above, maybe even more. We aren't any good yet but our performance last night was much better than any from our few wins in our League 2 relegation season.
League 2...
Weird argument to start. Wealdstone would have been fully aware of this since they got promoted. It's not them grossly underachieving for years on end versus budget and expectations.
I was surprised by this quote too. I can only assume it is to try and stop negative speculation about other players in your side from the fanbase.
I didn't see anything in Brunt to suggest he could play in a midfield 2 or as a holding midfielder. However, I saw a kid with bundles of ability...
Kovacs got sent off for one of the harshest handball reds you could ever see.
Only reason I know this is I watched back that season's DVD after we got relegated yet again last May.
