Yeah, they did. But in Simons’ case at least, by the time he reached us we’d started to turn into this really weird, uber-negative and defensive side - which we weren’t with Morley.
I can imagine that Schumacher will play a lot more attacking football, which will suit Simons better.
Mixed bag for us to be honest, but we were a team in transition when he came in - trying to change too much at once.
Looked good in spells, so if he can up his consistency you've got a player, but he wasn't on it every game. Morley was a lot better for us.
In fairness to Hanlan we played him more as a winger than an out and out striker.
He’s more of a footballer than Loft (a low benchmark I know) but then Loft would get the kind of goal that only lumps get, so it’s swings and roundabouts.
But I can’t pretend I was devastated to see Hanlan go...
Yes (other than departures) but contracts don't even run out till the end of the month, so not worried.
Looks like a bunch of clubs are in for Brandon Hanlan (Vale, Donny, Cobblers).
I think he'd be a decent signing. On his day, he's unplayable...just that that day only comes around one game...
They pulled a Wycombe - off to a flyer (though they were even more flying than we were) and choked abysmally in the second half. At least they made the final I suppose.
Congratulations to AFCW, least it's not another bloody Northern team.
As much as Jones is a dick and I’m glad to be shot of him, congratulations to Charlton after years of punching below their weight, dodgy owners, etc etc.
Credit to Orient too, with a new sugar daddy and a reinforced squad then they could be a solid bet for another promotion shot next season.
I doubt it.
It's not his fault, he's barely had a sniff of a chance with us, which is probably unfair as he's not really had time to settle into the team.
But when he *has* come on, he hasn't looked very good, and he's been sent off twice (2 yellows rather than straight red, but still).
I...
We've only just announced our retained/release list.
I feel like Vokes has been so injury-prone in his last couple of seasons that he may yet hang up his boots, but nothing has been announced.
Don't know why we're getting rid of Kieran Sadlier as he has been decent but it may be an injury...
Yeah, that’s on Dodds really, we’ve been playing him as a target man and expecting him to win aerial duels against monster centre backs - when that’s not really him.
In the first half of the season, our wingers were pushing forwards a lot more and he had other players to play off, and we could...
I will be backing Charlton to win in the final, if only because:
1) Orient’s my local team, it’s great to have a ground I can get to in under 30 mins
2) can’t fking stand Nathan Jones, he clearly hasn’t done anything to me personally but he’s one of those types like a Martin Allen where you...
Well we haven't been helped by Ipswich coming straight back down to the Championship.
I think Humphries is possibly more a "good L1 level" than he is "gunning for promotion in the Championship" level player.
That said, Ipswich have put out a piece on how well he's done on loan for us, and I...
None of us understands this either, trust me.
One of two major mistakes we’ve made this season - #1 pissing off Bloomfield and forcing him out and #2, not so much even just Morley, but we broke our record transfer fee not once but twice on a couple of Danes who between them have featured for a...
Yup, we have an average attendance of 4000 home fans and really very little seems to change that. Add to that the fact that there has been a real downer of a mood over performances recently - we're really only in the playoffs because we had a very strong first half of the season, the second half...
I think it was more us that was doing the spoiling than Charlton, though both teams were guilty of it.
In the recent 4-0 pasting they gave us, Lloyd Jones smashed into Kone early doors and they were very physical, so I think we set up to make sure we didn't get out-battled again and were...
Well, I'll take that. We won't win playing like that over two legs though.
Under Bloomfield we were actually playing a lot more football, we just reverted to pure hoofball today which was not working at all from the attacking perspective. Kone is not a target man.
Lots of head tennis...
Marginally the better side in the first half though neither side is creating clear cut opportunities.
Both sides are kicking the shit out of one another and the ref is letting things go for both sides, Kone has already (deservedly) been booked, but Gillesphey has also kicked Kone on the floor...
