The 1FF Non League Groundhopping Thread

I don't normally write match reports, but...this is kind of a match report! Newhaven beat Arundel 3-1 in the Peter Bentley Challenge Cup Final, in the presence of 505 people, a chocolate labrador and two scruffy looking terriers...

Starring roles go to Broadbridge Heath FC, Littlehampton Town FC, Gary Lineker and a retirement home for East End...

The fall and rise of Worthing in peril...

The Wealdstone Raider and the world of Whitehawk

As I understand it, the stadium plans are for the same space. Withdean residents had rather enough of football, so that turned out to be a non starter. The name change was turned down after Brighton & Hove Albion objected, stating it would cause confusion. I think anyone visiting the Enclosed...

The Wealdstone Raider and the world of Whitehawk

http://www.townsendaround.co.uk/football/the-wealdstone-raider-and-the-world-of-whitehawk/ I wrote this for last months Late Tackle magazine, and now they've a new issue out and it's been consigned to the archive, I thought I'd share it with you- in good time for todays rematch! I hope you enjoy.

    Scunny vs Crawley

Richard Wood being recalled by fatty at Rotherham isn't going to do Crawley much good.

    Isthmian 2014/15

I don't expect it to go to the last game. Hill are a great team, but absolutely exhausted, hence your victory at their patch. I predict a draw, but you might just turn them over. The match at Worthing will be difficult for you though- they are absolutely flying at the moment, a bunch of kids who...

    League Rebranding and Highlights Show

Indeed. Cuckoo. But the TV package is long overdue. Very impressed with BT Sport, particularly as they give it to me for nothing with my internet. Though how long that will continue is anybodies guess.

    Isthmian 2014/15

Not much in the way of money around the Green Elephants Stadium (they're a local company that makes, rather bizarrely, teepees), although there is far more commercial sponsorship coming in from the local community than ever before. Also, they managed to sell Greg Luer to Hull City (he's scoring...

    20th - 21st March Match thread

Down in the Ryman South, normal service was resumed at Burgess Hill who beat Chipstead 3-0 and have a record of P38 W30 D7 L1 PTS 97. I went to watch Worthing draw 1-1 with Folkestone Invicta on "pay what you like day"- cracking match, played in great spirit with not a little skill, and a crowd...

    Port Vale v Creepy Crawley

Had Gregory still been in charge, Crawley would be bottom and already relegated. I never rated Saunders, but I'm very pleased to be wrong. Gregory is apparently still on the payroll and expected back, with Saunders still officially interim manager- if Gregory does indeed return they'll have to...

    Port Vale v Creepy Crawley

Positive. Crawley fans were told that they had to be purchased by Monday afternoon as there would be none for sale on the night. I can only assume that Vale decided there were so few expected that they didn't want to pay someone to sell tickets on the night. I can understand that, but it hardly...

    Port Vale v Creepy Crawley

However many they bring, Vale didn't make it easy for them by insisting they had to buy tickets in advance. How difficult would it be to let them buy them at the ground- it's hardly like there'll be two thousand of them? There are quite a few Northern and Midlands CTFC exiles who've now been...

    Gus Poyet Sacked!

Who could be surprised by Sunderland sacking a manager? Every couple of years another one falls off the merry-go-round, they flirt with relegation, rally, then go again. It seems very much that sacking the manager doesn't work, does it? Perhaps the problem is somewhere else?
