My main worry for Worthing FC would be that someone might take over then asset strip. Woodside Road is in a fairly nice part of town and the ground would be worth a fair penny for redevelopment, assuming that there aren't covenants on it to restrict its use purely to sport. I agree with what you said in the article, about the size of the town and the status of its main football team, definitely underachieving. Also the resurgence of Brighton and Hove Albion will have had a massive impact on attendances at all clubs in the county, having gone from crowds of around 7k at Withdean to an average of 25k at Falmer, those people will have to have come from somewhere. A few years ago we had three sides from Sussex in the Conference National, Crawley made the jump to the Football League and have done fairly well, whereas Eastbourne and Lewes sank back from whence they came. How long will be before another team from Sussex can reach these dizzy heights, with a bit of a nudge in the right direction, why not Worthing FC?

An interesting read. When I saw them play Redhill in December, they were passing the buckets around. Hopefully this could be the start of something special for them.
