At the risk of doing the wrong thing I'm going to start a matchday thread, the first of the season.
On paper this looks like a match up between 2 absolute head fuck football teams. At least our new owners seem to have a plan that isn't to take as much money out of the football team as...
I think most of us will agree that 2020 has been an epic fail/annus horribilis!
However tomorrow sees the start of the new season and for many the joy of seeing their beloved teams for the first time in months. Yes it’s on Ifollow and yes there are no paying supporters, the lifeblood of these...
Match of the day on Saturday sees the (current) top 2 in the league face off against each other. Both sides lost 3-1 last night and will be looking to bounce back. We are still in the hunt to bring in new faces before the Transfer Window slams shut on Friday night.
Comments and thoughts welcome.
Probably worthy of its own thread given the recent comments regarding the game in some of the other threads about.
As it stands we are weak up front with both Doyle and Yates having been recalled so we are currently looking at a front 3 of Woolery, Jayesimi with young Scott Twine up front...
(Shamelessly stolen from the league 1 forum)
So with January not too far away, and the transfer window sweeping open, what are League 2 fans' desires for their club to bring in to strengthen for the remainder of the season?
For us of course we are quite reliant on loanees and short term...
Where have all the Walsall fans gone? There used to be a couple of pretty decent regular posters?
Anyway, on the back of 2 wins on the spin/bounce we have on paper a bit of a 'gimme'. However Walsall have forward Adebayo in their ranks and he's bound to come back to haunt us. For us, Lloyd...
My first game at the home of football this weekend. The last 4 seasons that I have been attending have been absolutely awful at home and we have lost to some truly horrific sides.
Hopefully we can turn this relatively poor run of form around and get a much needed 3 points on board. It won't be...
Wasn't sure exactly where to put this so have put in a new thread.
https://www.swindonadvertiser.co.uk/sport/17778315.swindon-town-non-executive-vice-chairman-clem-morfuni-keen-seal-purchase-15-per-cent-stake-club/
So Clem Morfuni appears to be keen to put some investment into the club. 1.1...
Now the fixtures are out, what are your early thoughts?
Scunny away - we always seem to struggle there and Paul Hurst is a good manager at this level.
Carlisle home - You would like to think we would fancy our chances of getting off to a flier at home to the Cumbrians who I fancy to struggle...
From a League 2 side to add to your own side and why.
For me its a toss up between Norwood and Mayor. A consistent goalscorer at this level is often worth his weight in gold but for me I would probably take Mayor. Since we lost Alzate earlier in the season we have lacked the creativity and...
One of my pet hates are unfunny football nicknames, so I have used two of the 'classics' to open this thread.
I'm travelling west on Saturday, the weather forecast is diabolical, we were diabolical against Stevenage on Tuesday night, but conversely, our form historically against Vale at home is...
How early will we concede this time?
When will Michael Doughty score his penalty?
For gamblers, we are 100% on BTTS and I fancy goals so maybe worth a nibble on over 3.5. (Cue a 0-0)
I’m in Turkey sunning myself at the moment so will have half an eye on this one. If we want to compete this...
A repeat of the epic play-off battle of 1993 where Town and Rovers played 2 fiercely contested games to see who would take on Leicester City for a shot at the Premier League. Since then, its been all pretty much doom and gloom and we both find ourselves in the basement division. I would say both...
An interesting read into how much league 2 clubs pay their players.
https://www.footy.com/footballers-vs-the-fans/#efl-league-two
2 teams which seem to buck the trend that throwing money at it will buy you success are FGR and Accrington (of course).
Will we see beast mode?
Wycombe have started the season well and we have been inconsistent but slowly getting there. If our home form was as good as our away form we would be flying, but something is not right at home.
I am hopeful that Wycombe may come to attack which may suit us.
I'm going...
As it says on the tin -
Orient are clearly the League 2 side but I reckon Bury and Coventry are 2 of the 3 in League 1. Not sure on the other club however Southend have had some HMRC warnings before but I doubt it is them.
