Match Day Liverpool v Man City, Sunday 14th January 16:00

What a lovely game for the neutral, the intensity from the first whistle was fantastic, a real battle. Liverpool were fantastic, bar the goalkeeper of course, and caught City on a bit of a flat day imo. No Silva, in addition to De Bruyne and Aguero being almost anonymous throughout.

    Scottish fitba!

Considering recent OFs I was more than happy with that performance. We looked dangerous in a way we've not for a while and caused Celtic problems all over the pitch. If we can get some consistency now please...!

    Stickied Italian Football

Was in Milan over New Year and went to the Inter - Lazio game. I'm not sure if it was just me, but I was slightly appalled at the low quality of the match (and this is from a Scottish football fan) no one seemed to be able to string much together. Maybe was just me perhaps or the seat I was...

    Catalonia

During the referendum I had arguments with friends who insisted the EU was essential for protecting Worker's rights, Consumer rights etc. Turns out the EU can barely muster a Tweet when one its own members starts using the state to attack its own citizens...

    Catalonia

^ I thought the Nationalists would slink off quietly after the referendum, but interestingly looks like they're escalating this further. What do the Spanish do now. (Apart from roll out the King...!) I know Abertawe is on the wind-up regarding the EU, but I think he's correct in that this...

Match Day Liverpool v Arsenal, Sunday 27th August 16:00

I've watched Arsenal twice on tv this season and in both instances I think Ozil's name was mentioned by the commentator about 5 times over the 90 mins. He was almost anonymous in both contests. Is this standard or did I just happen to witness 2 anomalies...?

    The Holidays Thread

I'm getting the train from Belgrade to Bar in Montenegro, then spending 3 nights / 2 days in a village along the coast. I should hopefully be able to explore the coast, which looks pretty compact and quite stunning in places.

    West London towerblock Fire

Understandable that people are very angry, but it's way too early to point the finger at the cladding (or anything else for that matter). Let the investigators do their job and reach a conclusion. Whatever was installed in the design of the refurbishment should have been specified (and...

    there's an election

As much as I would've liked to have seen a Tory majority (for the purposes of a smoother Brexit process) I'm not that unhappy about seeing a significant Labour minority. I think they'll be able to provide a strong opposition to keep the Tories in-check and focused on avoiding the kind of...

    there's an election

From a Scottish-Unionist perspective very happy with the result. Certainly it goes some way to reflecting the plurality of views that exist in this country and not the one-party-state it was under the SNP. A few of the main SNP lines of attack have been effectively neutralised too; their...

SNP taking a kicking in Scotland. Looks like they'll get just over a third of the popular vote. Alex Salmond losing his seat!

Hollywood announce war on Trump SAG Awards turns into a night-long protest

Thank you for ending on such a positive and sympathetic note...! To clarify, my bet is not that Le Pen will win outright in the first round. My bet is that she will be next French President. I simply stated that I think there a possibility it may happen. Granted, you're correct her polling...

Hollywood announce war on Trump SAG Awards turns into a night-long protest

Oddschecker is telling me that Le Pen has a 1/2 chance of winning the first round. Odds of Captain Scumbag having a threesome (of any sort [or a twosome]) are hard to come by...

Hollywood announce war on Trump SAG Awards turns into a night-long protest

I share your thoughts, but I also think she has a not improbable chance of gaining a majority in the first round and winning it outright, with no need for a run-off.

^ Good point. Was going to raise that up regarding Ian's comment. Still possible lingering antipathy (suspicion?) regarding Ottoman colonisation and invasion. There may well have been migration and disaporism in these locales, but unsure if it was entirely positive.

^ Didn't know that, thanks. Guess I'm just intrigued by Poland and Hungary, who appear to be terrified of an issue that, to the best of my knowledge, doesn't exist...
