We won, and I guess that's all that matters, but we were extremely unconvincing again and I'm finding it hard to see through rose-c**ted glasses at the moment.

First half we were better using some proper width and pace, but just didnt bother again in 2nd half. Telford never really seriously troubled us but as proved against decent sides we're liable to concede a few now and then so need to be hitting the net more ourselves.

To be fair to Telford they came and had a go but were pretty limited and ultimately just left wider gaps for us to exploit.

Goals again were hard to come by. Pleasing that since Eastleigh we haven't conceded, which considering we are only scoring the odd goal is useful!

Some big games coming up against better teams that Braintree, Aldershot and Telford, we need to be hitting the net far more often if we stand any chance of winning them.

Is the lack of goals due to how few you concede i.e. you set-up to knick a goal and/or over cautious?

Fairhurst, Holdroyd, MBH haven't exactly been overly goal shy in recent years.

Playing MBH on his own up front doesn't help, we played Fairhurst on his own for a while to. We play to our strengths, which is ultimately not to concede and having a decent midfield.

To be honest three of the top four rely on their defence to win games, the other one relies on scoring more than their opponents. If either of the 4 could do both the league would have been won months ago!

Yep, stick Akinde in any of the other three sides and the title would have been all but wrapped up already.

Only as long as he converted the penalties for them as well.

Honestly don't think I've seen a game lacking so much quality as I did last night, Terrible! We were awful, Southport poor also, ref was poor, was cold. Shambles! Good job Brodie is a donkey, he missed a sitter! We are the 2nd lowest scorers in the league!

You can include pictures in your posts instead of the link.

Old people using technology etc.

(One of my kids decided to drop my laptop on the floor and smash the screen, but it was neither of them, apparently......) :(

We've only struggled on Tuesday nights. Our Saturday games have been 1500-1800 on the whole. I would expect more than the 1100 from last week as the football on TV isnt massively appealing, we are winning games and its quite a nice evening.
hence the reason I put 'mw games'

Wilkin's turned Wrexham into a right bore.

5 clean sheet in the past 6 games, it's quite easy if you refuse to go forward. Our defence is actually pretty sound anyway, Smith is ace and Waterfall and Hudson are also very decent CB's. We are just woeful in terms of creating chances and putting them away. He is setting us up for 0-0's against dross at home and for that reason he must be given his P45 immediately. Last night was the tipping point for many, I wasn't there but people are telling me he was telling players to timewaste at 0-0. Against Southport, at home.

It's crazy because we actually have a talented squad player for player, I wouldn't change that much for next season honestly. Bar getting a manager in to manage them that is.

Last night for us was a massive game against Ilkeston which ended in a 2-2 draw so we remain 4 points clear at the top with a game in hand. :woo:

If you play like that when you come to BP it will be a great spectacle, as we are fantastic at breaking down teams that come to defend....... ;) :( :(

It was a poor appointment in the first place but surely Wilkin will be sacked at the end of the season. He has probably bought himself a bit of time by winning the derby but with the squad Wrexham have, they really shouldn't be bottom half.

He was the same with Nuneaton last season.

As you point out though, it's not as if you've got nothing up front. If you didn't have, you'd half see where he was coming from.

Apparently the reason that Halifax almost failed to arrive in time for kick off last night is because they left one of their players at the services and had to go back for him :fl:
One for all, all for one, that's the Aspin ethos and the secret of our success. :woot:

My thoughts exactly on it.

The board knew exactly what kind of manager they were getting. Although his Wrexham team seem a whole lot less niggly and liable to gamesmanship than his Nuneaton team.

Aspin was alright, but your coaching staff were quality, real good blokes who were up for a laugh. They also told us some stories about what's going on with the RL mob and and the council, and the money that disappeared. Certainly changed my opinion of Halifax when you hear they are not just fighting in the league but off the pitch with the council too.
