Here are tonights fixtures

FC Halifax v Eastleigh
Southport v Braintree
Torquay v Lincoln
Welling v Wrexham

Game of day comes from the Racecourse this evening as Wellings trip to Wales presents a huge opportunity for themselves to put their destiny in their own hands.

Everyone at the Impact Arena and to a lesser extent Southport will be hoping that Wrexham can reproduce another good performance under temporary manager Carl Darlington which has seen them string a 4 match unbeaten run together. Wrexham need to avoid defeat so that a win on Saturday will mean safety for Alfreton. On the other hand, it would mean that Welling know that they must win both remaining fixtures.

Elsewhere Eastleigh play their game in hand on their play-off chasing rivals as they travel to the Shay to face Halifax. It will be far from easy for the Spitfires however as despite not reaching the form of last season Halifax have still lost just 4 times on their own patch in two seasons.

Southport will look to put any relegation fears firmly to bed at home to Braintree, while its the battle of who wants the season over quickest in Devon as Torquay host Lincoln. Both sides have had disappointing seasons and will be hoping for much better next time around

Sounds as though we'll be playing even more fringe players in this one.

The midfield three could potentially have an average age of 19/20.

A tough game for us at the Shay tonight, but we tend to be very professional when we really need to be, and tonight is one of those nights. A draw wouldn't be disastrous, 3 points will put us 4th, but a loss takes it out of our own hands. I still think at least 3 of the 4 teams chasing the 2 available play off spots will drop points, so plenty can happen after tonight's game, irrelevant of our result tonight.
Should be 50-60 of us there tonight. There would have been more but our village pub has a meat draw on later... :dk:

Yup, we'll have a 17 yo keeper, 17 yo left back and potentially an academy striker featuring at some point.

Just want this campaign over already.

The biggest game of this evening is Halifax vs Eastleigh. A game which influences who might take a step closer to the Football League is more interesting than who is relegated to Conference South.

Come on Halifax! :bravo:

I'll be interested to see what sort of crowd supposedly "proper club" FC Halifax get tonight. My guess is it will rubber stamp what most already know, that they are in reality one of the tinpot brigade.

That being said, come on you Shaymen.:bravo:

Not sure you could use tonights crowd as an indicator of Halifax's support - Tuesday night, 0 away fans, Halifax have nothing to play for.

Exactly, it's on nights like this you get a true picture of what a clubs core support really is, which tells you a lot.

Real clubs and Tin Potters are clean different. One can never become the other, regardless of circumstance. :bdick:

It'll go one of two ways, you'll batter us or we'll batter you - there'll be no in between IMO.

Part of me thinks it will be the former, Aspin was fuming after Barnet and with no pressure other than playing for contracts it could see us open up a little bit.

The crowd will be terrible, which will no doubt have Chris FGR and his band of 'top blokes' bashing in to their socks.

It tells you bollocks.
Halifax have fuck all to play for, and on a Tuesday night, tonights attendance means jack shit towards proving if they are a 'real club'.
You are talking out of your rectal passage once again. :shut::dk:

WRONG!

It tells you a lot more then a big Saturday game with a lot riding on it would. It tells you how many fans really care enough to support the club, whatever the game. That's why it's so impressive when a club like Stockport can still keep getting 2500+, and even the likes of Oxford and Luton when they had mediocre seasons at this level, still maintained 5000+ crowds.

Big/proper clubs can attract a crowd whatever the situation, unless there is an intentional boycott, which might of course be the case at FCTOH; who's fans are probably sick of their thuggish, long ball antics.

It depends on how you define core home support, for me it is those who will attend all games, whether it is a local derby on a Bank Holiday Monday or a replay in the Trophy on a wet Tuesday in November. Towards the end of the season, when mid-table obscurity is all but confirmed, then crowds do tend to drop off a little and I doubt if anyone on here can honestly say that they don't at the club they support. So, unsurprisingly, I sort of agree with my fellow Rover in that respect, which is why Stockport have maintained respectable crowds despite their league position. Core support has nothing to do with whether a club can be considered real or not, we are all real, we play football and don't exist in some parallel universe or a computer game...it is just the fans who will turn up regardless!

Of course I recognise that, and I believe I used the term proper as opposed to real as in proper vs tinpot, which some Halifax fans, in particular Mr Back to the Future, seem to be delusional about where they fit in.

Therefore my dig was aimed at some of the Halifax fans on here who seem to have ideas above their station and seem desperate to put down clubs like ourselves, Alfreton, Eastleigh etc, with no real justification.

People in glass houses n all that.

Don't get upset my friend, he's just a sad little Tin Potter with a justifiable inferiority complex. Well it's not even a complex really, he is inferior. :bdick:

I asked a few people when I was at the Shay if they knew who he was, as I was quite keen to meet him and have a few words. None seemed to know, as the only real description I could give was that he was an obnoxious, sad little man who spends most of his time trolling internet forums, and likes shit 1980's sci-fi. Seems that description was too indistinct to identify him amongst their support.:box::fl:

Nothing wrong with Alfreton in my book, they aren't throwing money at everything.

You lot and Eastleigh are the issue for most people. You're both throwing ridiculous amounts of money around whereas the likes of Woking and potentially Macclesfield - both clubs who aren't massive but also aren't spending ridiculous amounts to be where they are - are probably going to miss out on the playoffs because some sugar daddy doesn't get a big enough kick off football manager so has you lot as a weekend hobby. Before you mention Chester City, yes I speak from experience and we got punished eventually which is what you're all blind to. You can't see what is around the corner and think your owners are really nice guys who wouldn't dare walk out and leave you clinging to a broken solar panel while you share the last vegan pasty between all 5 of you.

I can't speak for Eastleigh, but in our case it's taken decades of hard graft, mainly by dedicated volunteers, to get the club to this level and keep it here for more then a decade, until the club was taken over by Dale Vince in 2010, whilst building a new stadium in the process. All of this was achieved without a sugar daddy, which many fail to recognise.

The fact that we now have one shouldn't detract from the amazing achievement which was getting this club established at this level, without spending massive amounts. We are not a flash in the pan. We are a club with a long and proud history, with a lot of dedicated passionate individuals involved over the years, all of whom have worked tremendously hard to help grow the club.

Vince is providing the final push, he does not define our club.

Nice to see Halifax acknowledging that Macc fans will be supporting them tonight by making themselves easy to relate to for us Silkmen by naming only 3 subs on the bench.

Well I expect a rousing response from Halifax, backed by their large vociferous and loyal following.
