Well we huffed and puffed, played the better stuff in the first half but rarely threatened to score. Second half Miller should have scored, it was a good block by Rowe but still feel if Miller had shown more conviction it would have gone in. Sutton came forward and Rowe scored from a corner, Lavery then missed a chance that really should have been put away. Sutton then scored against the run of play and the game was over. We didn’t play that badly but we are toothless.

We’ve had some dog shit performances this season but that was next level.

Quite possibly why the two blokes behind me were talking about grouting for the last twenty minutes. But yeah, LS, how many times have we said 'one of the worst displays in years' this season? Far too many. Think I'm at that level where I'm not sure I can be genuinely arsed to go.

I don’t think today was really about mansfield being decent, it was about tranmere being well, er maybe not the side i’ve seen before.

Relatively routine tbh, brilliantly worked opening goal, really nice to see us being different from set pieces recently.

As mark hughes put it, maybe it’s because it’s everyone’s cup final :ffs:

Worked for Joey Barton last season ;)

Just a shame it’s the Pizza trophy final where everyone gets out to sleep

We won’t make the playoffs. 2 wins in 10, a good performance nowhere to be found. 2 teams playing out an absolutely dreadful game, and two crosses kill us. Poor poor poor.
Mansfield and Stockport now hitting the form that reflects their squad strength.

Those two for automatic with Orient perhaps. Bradford keep fecking up so you might hang in the there.

Don’t, you’ll give hellogregory panic attacks about being relegated next season…

As for us an effective if unconvincing 2-0 win against Dale, they look like they might be saying goodbye to the football league soon enough which will be a shame.

5 wins from 7 and just one defeat has launched us up the table, finally some breathing space between us and the drop zone too.

I had us down to finish 6/7th, but after today I'm deflated. Genuinely awful. Even if we made the playoffs I think we'd lose.

Stockport certainly, they’ve got the minerals to get there, i said earlier in the season when we beat them 2-1 they’d be up there as they had the quality just hadn’t quite adapted to the pace of the league as opposed to playing the dog & partridge every other week in the bananarama league.

Us, much less so. we’ve a crazy run of games (salford home wimbledon away, orient home, northampton away and stockport away), if we’re even in the playoffs after that i’d be delighted.

If the last 20 mins of today doesn’t convince Curle to play two upfront & do away with the mind numbing hoof ball, nothing will.

Fairly sure nothing will. That dinosaur is set in his ways and we need to just wait and hope others around us also continue to be shite

We should've won that by one more than 1-0, all afternoon we had chances and clear passages of play to score or create a chance to put the game to bed. In the end we ended up scoring on the break from a Crawley set play.

I don't think Crawley had a proper shot, apart from a cross in the first half from Gordon which rolled across the six yard box and everyone missed. We literally controlled the game for about 80mins.

Crawley offered little in the final third - I'm all for playing out from the back, but Crawley clearly don't have enough players capable of doing that, they kept giving the ball away cheaply which led to chances for us. They're in a relegation battle and it looked like they was prioritising style over substance, they didn't get the ball forward quick enough and put alot of pressure on themselves. Alot of voices from the away calling for Wagmi to leave too.

From what I've seen this season, I think the relegation spots will be between the current bottom three.

As for ourselves, we need 2 wins to confirm a playoff spot and probably 4 now to get ourselves over the line - I'm working on the basis that we will draw and lose a few more games.

Ahem, never lost the faith!

Gerrin!
You can thank the idiots behind me keeping hold of the ball for that. One of your players complained to the ref and he tapped his watch. Would have been a couple of minutes less stoppage time.

Vital win to stop the rot.

Not the most comfortable of victories but deserved as we actually created 2 great chances. Something which we hadn’t managed to do in 3 toothless performance. We scored neither of said chances as the goal we did score was basically a gift from a Colchester cock up. Not the easiest of opponents after a 0-4 defeat given they’d won their last 5 away games. So really good win.

I said this game could be a crossroads. If we’d lost we could end up dropping like a bag of shit, but we we’ve ground out the win id like to think we’ll push on and hopefully end up with a top 7 finish which would be some achievement given the budget, quality of our squad and where we were last season.

We'd have no chance in the playoffs considering we'd have to play one leg at home.

Stockport County.
Stevenage didn't look much.

Could be two automatic spots left to fight for.

Usual script at Valley Parade as Charity FC strikes again.

Textbook away performance from Barrow. Park the bus and take your chance when it comes. Fair play, they knew full well our midfield would just pass it backwards for 90 minutes as none of them have the ability to pass forwards.

I've said from the summer we needed a deep lying creative player and I can't believe we're sat in February and still don't have one. Clayton has been fine since coming in but fuck me a midfield three of him, Smallwood and Gilliead is never getting you promoted.

If Stevenage are the second best side in this division then I'm the queen of Belgium.

Looked like they wanted to play for a draw from the outset, had a back six at times, offered next to nothing going forwards. Often resorted to wayward hoofs from Piergianni. Crawley were a much better side and yet they're 2nd bottom, crazy

Northampton an automatic promotion chasing side going down with "head injuries" in the first half after going ahead at home to the team in 19th. The worst shithouses in the league by a long long long way. They got what they deserved today, that was overdue from the game at BP in August.

Two teams out of form. We got done late by Gillingham on Tuesday and we've played pretty much bang on exactly the same as that but we've taken the win. I'm not gonna grumble about that at all. Play badly in back to back matches and take three pts. We've played better in back to back games and taken less this season.

Class in the away end for both goals.

Has to be the slowest midfield in the league, too. Actually, I reckon we've got the slowest team full stop.

We have a lot to owe tomas Holy for that game. Late on a Colchester player put in a cross that Holy plucked out of the air at full stretch at a hell of a height while behind him was Akinde and an open goal. That was Colchester's actual best chance despite it not resulting in a shot and any other goalkeeper wouldn't have been able to do that.

Got nothing much against the Northampton fans, but their team is so grim. Dirty, slow, time wasting, anti football merchants.
I really hope they bottle promotion like last year - awful to watch, awful to play against, they're league 2 all day long.

I was wondering if it was actually Tomas Holy or a lookalike in his shirt.

The reason being that I don’t think a single one of his kicks went out for a throw in.

Yeah no beef with the club or fans here from me either, but the way this side is set up to manage games is complete anti-football, you've nailed it there. Shame for their fans because they play good stuff at 0-0. They must have spent about 40-50% of our matches combined this season trying to stop us equalising when they're in all reality a much better side than us and probably could have killed us off today if they weren't more bothered about running the clock down.
