Awful, truly awful news , puts a poor result into perspective! Is anything being organised for their families that maybe anyone who chooses can contribute to?

Jacob Schilt had played for Brighton fans several times in their annual friendly against Crystal Palace fans to raise money for the Robert Eaton Memorial Fund (REMF). Robert Eaton was a Brighton fan who died in the attack on the Twin Towers on 911 and a charity was started in his memory. Any money raised is used to fund football projects in Sussex, the Croydon area and New York to benefit young people from underprivileged backgrounds . If you wanted to make a donation in memory of Jacob then the REMF would be a suitable and worthwhile choice.

Puts everything into perspective really. As fans your mood can change whether the team win, lose or draw. But one thing which is taken as given, is that you return home afterwards and try again next game. Tragically in this case two lads left to play football and didn't make it back. Would be a nice touch to perhaps see some bucket collections at the Bank holiday games, with proceeds donated to charities selected by the players families. Thoughts of the whole football community are with them at this time.

Agree with you completely, particularly about going out to watch a game and returning safely. We have recently had reports from the inquiry into Hillsborough and last season the 30th anniversary of the Bradford disaster, which jointly cost the lives of well over 100 people who left to watch a football match but didn't go home afterwards. At times footballing rivalries are put aside and we just stand together as fans of the beautiful game, this is one of those occasions, and our thoughts go out to the friends, family and team-mates of these lads.

Tragic for the families and now that racing driver has died from the injuries he received at the weekend, not a good weekend.
RIP

We, as a Club, decided to have a bucket collection to go to Worthing United along with the minute's silence and £496.20 was raised.

With the crowd being under a thousand I think that's a brilliant amount.

That's quite fabulous. There's been such solidarity across the Non League community. And credit to Brighton & Hove Albion, who have sold almost 1000 tickets for The FA Vase match between United and East Preston on Sunday. A fitting tribute.

That's brilliant!

Was surprised how much was raised, seems everybody was feeling generous!

Obviously when putting my money in my thoughts were with all victims, but the bucket collection was solely for Worthing United.

Kick off between Worthing United and East Preston in the FA Vase is at 5. It'll be by far the biggest crowd hey've ever seen, and will be extremely emotional. I have to feel a bit sorry for East Preston though...it might be a bit difficult for their players, having to play Worthing United, 950 people and a world of emotion.
