Might be wrong but I think you have to wait a season to enter the FA Cup if you're a newly formed club who haven't played a league season in your new guise.

I might not win too many friends amongst the upper echelons of the game with a suggestion that the FA skew the prize money to increase the amount won by clubs exiting the competition in the early rounds. The winners of the competition get £1.8m, which is a drop in the ocean to those likely to be lifting the trophy, whereas a team who make it through the extra-preliminary round earn £1,500. How about reducing the amount the winners get and say doubling the money for the teams who go out in the earliest rounds. If the FA are really serious about investing in grass-roots football then make the prize money an amount that could make a significant difference to clubs at the lowest competitive levels of the game.

You have to have been in the previous years Vase or Trophy to get entry in to the FA Cup. Hereford as a new club are not allowed in until next season once they have competed this year in the Vase. (edit: or the league cup for FL teams)

As a step 4 side Diamonds come in at the Preliminary round this year rather than the Extra Preliminary that we came in at before. We've been drawn away at Kings Langley, who are also in their first season at step 4 after promotion last season.

We missed the FA Cup til our 3rd season. We were too late to be entered for the Trophy in our 1st season (2010). So we entered that in our second season. When we finally got in it in 2012 we never turned up.

Buxton vs. Ramsbottom United has to be my personal favourite, given the hostilities that took place between both sides last week.

Preliminary round on Saturday, with the draw for the first qualifying round already made. £1,925 for the winners of Saturday's games is not to be sniffed at for the sides involved.

Cleethorpes Town beat Brigg Town 5-1 in the Extra-Preliminary Round and will play Clipstone (near Mansfield) away in The Preliminary Round on Saturday.

It's not often that Cleethorpes have further to travel to an away game than us! :bg:

Former Alfreton Player (who went on to play in the Premier League for Hull) Ryan France is the manager at Clipstone. Will be a close tie I think

Diamonds are through to face the winners of the replay between Bedfont & Feltham and AFC Hayes. Personally I'm hoping for the step 6 side purely because I looked up how to get to the grounds and Bedfont looks a little easier to get to!

We beat divisional rivals Kings Langley to dump former R&DFC man Ritchie Hanlon out of the cup. It was a scrappy game, not fantastic in quality but not poor. Overall I thought we were slightly the better side, but not by far. There were very few shots on target by either side, and we appealed for a goal when the ball bounced off the underside of their crossbar, but it wasn't all the ball over all the line.

Keeping an eye on this to see how our local teams get on. Barking have a replay with Haringey tomorrow night I believe, as do Romford - both drew 0-0 at the week. Redbridge, who reached the 2nd round proper a few years back and lost to Crawley, have already gone out.

Clipstone won it 1 - 0 with a late-ish winner.
Our local rag says Cleethorpes had all the chances but didn't put them away, reminds me of another local team currently..... :ffs:

Ouch. Clipstone have started well too in their first season at step 5. Play Lincoln United next who defeated South Normanton Althetic in the last round who play less than a mile outside Alfreton.

We've got Hyde at home. Confident looking at league positions we can get a win out of it. But its a tougher game against a team in our league. Hope we make it through. A good cup run could put some decent money in the coffers of our back to Darlo campaign

First Qualifying Round this weekend. Anyone going to any games?

I'm hoping to get to my nearest club Rochester United to see them take on Herne Bay. First time they have been in the competition and have made it through two rounds already including upsetting Isthmian Div 1 South Chipstead in the previous round, have to see if they can cause another upset.

We're away at step 6 (CCL D1) side Bedfont & Feltham. They've got this far so we can't afford to underestimate them.

Anyone know what time the 2nd Qualifying Round draw is on Monday?

Normally gets released around mid-day.

Not sure on which region we'll be in for the next round so who we can get is a real mystery. I'd like a home draw please!

I don't want Basford! We've got them in the Vase.

It's more than just North and South at this stage I believe. I hope we're in something vaguely central/south-east. Rather not draw your lot as we'd probably lose, and I'm not ready for a game we expect to lose yet!

Yes I think you right. Haha. Think we has discovered our shoot boots today just in time for the cup.

Well I never made it to Rochester United sadly, ended up at Truck Fest instead. Won't lie Truck Fest was utterly superb! Rochester couldn't cause another upset though, Herne Bay beat them 3-1. According to footballwebpages Herne Bay only had 9 men as well, although I don't know when they were sent off.
I'll await the draw and see if I can get to anything else for my non-league groundhopping.
