Hang on, wasn't Simon Ainge a centre-back?

Yes. He was converted in to a Centre forward by Simon Weaver in January. He scored 4 goals against our sorry defence in his first appearance as a striker and never looked back. He also picked up February POTM and scored a hat trick v Fylde.

Good on the lad - strange that he's never played up front earlier in his career! Looked a bang average defender the few times we faced Harrogate.

He'll be on Cox's radar then if he can play both and score goals

Excellent for us as a centre half and was key to our run to the play offs in the National. Only left to drop a level as he couldn't commit to the travelling anymore.

The fact he's been converted to a striker, is frankly embarrassing for every player in the league tbh

Aingey was a great last-ditch defender for us at the time, and stood alongside Marc Roberts in the core of our defence for a full season until the latter started shading him in quality and took a move up to Barnsley.

I even tried starting a chant about him to the tune of Angels by Robbie Williams. It never really caught on. A-heh-hem!
