Hello Darlo fans, what was your first season at the Meadows ground like and what are your plans moving forward. You might have been lucky not going up last season. We got there too quick and it's largely been struggle since.

Hello Chester fans, In a nutshell JE93 has pretty much covered the ins and outs & what and where's of what's happening at Blackwell Meadows.

Nothing much more I can add, other than everybody that has experienced their visit to Blackwell Meadows has had somewhat different views, or should I say various opinions on a few teething problems that occurred on the opening Boxing day fixture last season. But now everything seems to be running smoothly, obviously still quite a lot of hard work to be done in the foreseeable future.
But I'm just glad we are back in town, we've just got to take one step forward and not two steps back on our path to recovery from those abysmal dark days many years ago.

Good luck for the coming season!

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
I think we've signed our Warburton replacement and seemed to have done it on the sly and not bothered telling anyone and i had to go do detective work to find out who........blooming non league ways  its much easier when following a club with local radio coverage and papers telling you everything.

Have had a player called Max Leonard start and play most of the last 2 friendlies, thought it was a trialist, seems i think he's signed up......but am not 100% on that side as i found no details. Anyhow he played as Striker for Glossop North End last season in Evo Stick North One and banged 20 odd goals last season nabbing all their end of season awards in process.

see no word he's either left Glossop or signed for curzon, it may be that old Non-league way of these 'gentlemens agreements' stuff where he's on pre-season with us and will sign if we like or go back to Glossop if not, or else he has signed, if so it seems like a decent enough move......just then the winger position to fill.

Good luck to you too. I'd rather we were playing you than the likes of FGR and AFC Fylde.

Not had a lot to talk about, but our 2 signings look good, especially Terry gornell. Had a good few pre season games and the squad is coming along well.

Not quite sure what you mean. It has been taken up over summer, the drainage improved and completely re-vamped in line with the FSIF grant that we received to move to Blackwell Meadows, this required some further fund raising due to an overspend on the original project costs. This new surface is currently just bedding in. Not sure what the again part refers to. We previously played at Bishop Auckland so that was their pitch. There we no real problems with the pitch at the arena. Then there was the worms fiasco at Feethams but that was so long ago I doubt anyone but Darlo will remember.

Bpa admission prices reversed. Now a tenner for all games.I did think that a T May u turn might be on the cards.Well done for football fans pressure groups.Lets get the season underway. Good luck to all the teams. For all the full time clubs beware of what you are doing you should have a sustainable policy going forward .Gretna and Rushden come to mind.My life was devastated when we liquidated in 1974 and I dont want it to happen to any genuine supporters of clubs to satisfy someone's ego

With many people predicting Stockport to do well this season, I don't think they will, they always change their squad year on year, that's why they never do as well as they want to, may scrape top 7, IMO it will be Salford, York, Darlo, Chorley, Stockport, Blyth, and either Brackley or Kiddy. 3 to go down Gainsborough, Leamington and either Southport or NFU

Its because last year our game against you was moved due to the pitch, and the same has happened this year

Any confirmation yet on our game with yourselves. Is it going to be switched?

We have announced the signing of defender Luis Morrison. Have been under whelmed by him to be honest. Had a few games at Altrincham last season and lits Greenwich Borough,Farnbrough and Canvey Island among his former clubs, although he did appear on Love Island in 2015. :ffs:

We change squad every year because we usually change manager every year.

Right now, aside from Chris Smalley and a couple of youngsters, everyone in the squad was signed by Gannon, which means the personnel are the ones he wants. I'm very happy with that (compared to normal)

Keeping a watchful eye on that one, whether its rumors or not our pitch is fine at the moment.
But could need an extra couple of weeks to be pitch perfect.
Like JE93 says this new surface is currently just bedding in.
I'll try and keep you updated on that one mate.

Any news from your end mate about a switch to Alfreton, I've made plans with getting lifts sorted out for the visit to Alfreton on that Saturday. I'll try and keep ye posted on that one mate, and see what the outcome is?

One thing for sure he should be pretty fit, especially for running around for ninety minutes on the pitch.
He looks a bit like one of our players called Leon Scott.
I must admit he likes his Islands :ohy: Good luck to Luis, he could be a decent find.

You are quite correct. we have generally had a good clear out during the summer. However this summer has been different.

We finished the season with the joint best defence in the league. All of whom have been retained (bar Mark Ross and Courtney Meppen-Walter who were released) and added to with Stephen O'Halloran from Salford and Dan Cowan from Macclesfield.

We didn't score enough goals, so we have got rid of Josh Amis, Kayode Odejayi and Sefton Gonzales and replaced them with Jason Oswell (Welsh Prem top scorer last season), Darren Stephenson (whom I assume you know well) and Matty Warburton (ask DaveCUFC about him). We also have Adam Thomas coming back from missing most of last season with injury

Only downsides really are we have lost Danny Lloyd and Lewis Montrose to Peterborough and Fylde respectively. They have however been replaced with the aforementioned Stephenson and Sam Walker from Salford.

I think we'll be alright, and would expect a top 7 finish this season.

We've signed ex Woking and Ebbsfleet keeper Brandon Hall.

We've also announced that Mark Yates as our new U23 manager.

Tbh, I didn't rate Stephenson, but he split opinions, scores goals, but can be out of a game for 85 minutes, one strong tackle and he will be out of the game

Much more encouraging last night. Not that friendlies mean much and the 1-1 draw with Oldham is irrelevant. But we showed many of the stronger attributes last night that i know our Curzon's case to not be a relegation battler........we looked a solid team, like most know their roles, like we seem very settled to the system, look very strong at the back, pass the ball around superbly......just look together and gelled and everybody settled.

We of course lost 3 key players, but we have to push on fact that apart from Chorley we maybe have the most settled set-up and its the team work and the fact our team know our style is where we have strength.....didn't see it at Stockport Town or Mossley, but certainly did last night, we looked much more settled as a unit that them.

That's fair enough. everyone is entitled to their opinion. He's looked good so far in pre-season, with 2 goals and 3 assists he's a real livewire.

I guess we'll see. I'd rather he be playing for us than against us going off what I saw of him playing for you lot!!

Possibly big news for them teams aiming for promotion battle today in that Salford star signing Danny Livesey could possibly be out for the first 4 months of season.

Not confirmed yet, but massive blow if true......have sympathy if true as our key defender was out 6 months last season

I'm sorry but there is no way on this earth that anyone should feel sorry for Salford as a club. Only the people I have sympathy for is the genuine Salford City fans who used to support 'The Tangerines' before the Class of '92 and Peter Lim took over.

Salford's obsession with Man Utd is becoming more cringe worthy by the day. Salford City used to be a traditional old local club with it's own identity, Now it's just a play thing for those ex-Utd players.

Salford are just as much a franchise as MK Dons, just they already had the location that they wanted.

I do feel bad for Danny Livesey though - barely had any time out with injury with us, but I understand this is something to do with his ribs (?)

My apologies 'DarkSithLord' it looks like our home game with you's will be at home after all.
A quick quote from our club, saying "so we're well on target in terms of the pitch being ready in time"
"There are two home games coming up in quick succession on Aug 9th against Gainsborough and Aug 12th against Alfreton" :gmc:

Suppose to have had an MRI scan showing fractured ligaments in the upper rib cage!
