Great signing for the club and on his day will always bag a few goals, however on the flip side of the coin dare i say somewhat injury-prone.

His actual goal scoring record for us was probably close to a goal every 90 minutes. In many of his games for us went off injured.

Hunt has an extensive league career and can hopefully give us the experience and organisation which we needed more of in defence last season.

Could be a cracking signing. Loads of Crewe fans on Twitter telling us what a quality player he was for them last season at centre back, that's a good sign.

Charman is anyone's guess really. With Jamie Holmes back from his season long injury at least he and Charman give more numbers and more options up front.

Hunt must be a fairly decent defender he opted for another 12 months at Crewe, and made 25 appearances across the back four last term. He should in theory tighten our leaky defence up.

Charman will be interesting, as for Jamie Holmes let's hope he comes back to the form of his Harrogate appearance last summer. Him and Rivers tortured the home defence.

He's done well for you guy's. I'll never forget that game when he blitzed us with that hat-trick up at your place.
Memory serves me right he got man of the match. Indeed he had his problems with injuries.

And so,.. it comes down to Boston vs Alty in the promotion final.
Will this be the last game played at York Street ?
Can Boston stuff little Alty again like they did in the league game there?
Can Alty defy the odds again ?
Whoever goes up,.. how will they do back at NL level ?

Tough to call but I think they would both finish lower mid table. I would expect them to finish higher than both teams coming up from the South.

Both would struggle
Limited time to get a squad together. Neither paying silly money. Similar to chorley. BUFC especially would have to build a 3rd stand at our new ground by March to meet requirements so I can't see the funds being overly big.
On the face of it, if we went up I'd take 20th (or whatever if repreives were handed out!)
I'd worry about our defence in the national league and up top we could do with w big powerful, athletic target man as our players aren't the biggest up top.
Saturday is 50/50. Should be high scoring, I think both attacks would fancy their chances against eachothers defences. It certainly won't be a repeat of when we caught alty on a bad away run last August!

Good news Steve Watson has agreed to stay and have good budget.
Released 13 players who will be popping up at this level.
Steve McNulty, quality player but 38 and slowed down.
Dan McGuire, never played and injury prone but good player.
Joe Tait, solid defender but struggled playing out from back.
Macaulay Langstaff,good back up striker.
Jordon Burrows, gives 100% but doesn’t score enough or make forward runs.
Moke,good at this level.
Kallum Griffiths, good right back but not at wing back.
Andy Bond,big signing did nothing.
Wes York,never played loaned out.
Jake Wright,never played loaned out.
Tom Allen,never played loaned out.
Nathan Dyer and Jake Watson young lads.

lots of big wages gone.

I`m hoping the Brackley piggy bank can find a few quid for Wes York (if the geography permits). Brought the best out of Lee Ndlovu in our Feb/ March surge

Fully expect Darlo to be in for signing any of these 4.
Joe Tait, Jordan Burrows, Macaulay Langstaff and Dan Maguire.

Are you needing a winger? Wouldn’t surprise me if you went for Josh MacDonald. Lives up that way

Langstaff would be a better signing than McGuire, quiet frankly McGuire ran Jake Hyde close for most crocked player ever.

Their whole club knew about it, the chairman was at it see article below, it will never be forgotten. Evans was spanked 5-0 on his return hopefully we will do the same to the club when we play them. It denied many people to see their team in the league and 20 odd players a chance of realising their dreams. Both national league and FL are not void of blame too for allowing the promotion to continue.

Burrow seems to have done well for you and scored plenty. He wasn't a runner when he was here either but got his head on things without being a target man per se.

Its been very quiet and hush hush around Alfreton this summer. We are operating on a reduced budget but I have to say I am very impressed with our transfer business.

Dan Bradley`s return home is superb. A lot of our other signings are unproven at this level which is a risk but in the shape of Elliott Reeves I think we have a great prospect. Scored 36 goals for Ilkeston at Step 5. Relocated to Kent due to work commitments and scored 13 goals for Margate in the Isthmian. Had a trial at Carlisle a few years back. Very excited about him

Darlo complete the signing of Dan Maguire.

Chuffed with this one - he knows AA, he knows half of the team, and we play the kind of football that suits him. He will bang the goals in.

Last season we should have been good enough for the play offs but failed due to a couple of reasons...1 long term injuries to important players, and 2 wasting too many chances up front and conceding too many at the back.

The return of forward Jamie Holmes and defender/midfielder David Atkinson from long term injuries could be like having two new signings, whereas the signing of Nicky Hunt could bring much needed stability to the defence, and signings of Charman and Maguire (plus the return of Holmes) significantly increases our strength up front. Last season we played very attacking football but wasted so many chances.

I was convinced that last season Hatfield and Wheatley were the best centre midfield pairing in the division, now we will have a front three of Campbell Maguire and Donawa .

If we can sign a decent keeper and maybe bring in one more defender, like Joe Tait for example, I think we're a shoe in for the play offs next season if and when that happens.

Holmes isn’t a centre-forward.

Charman is an unknown quantity given he has never played at this level before, or even senior men’s football.

But yes, I agree with the sentiments that Donawa, Maguire, Campbell is a hell of a front 3 at this level.

I can’t honestly see us signing another centre-half, not least the budget probably won’t allow it. We have 3 centre-backs (Hunt, Storey, Laing) with Watson, Atkinson & Reid able to cover if needed.

We just need a goalkeeper now, and an attacking midfielder.

Does not have to do much to beat this season record,2 goals and 1 good performance, could not cope with full time training no idea if any good or not,Part time player at part time club might help him.guarenteed to score against us.

Well done Alty deserved it and glad we don’t have to play you.
Thanks bud. I do feel for york and boston as this wasnt in either script was it. We have been trying hard not to be a billy big bollocks on here as we alty fans knew what a fantastic side we have now. But for a bad start and several players out our management were sure we would have won it. This proves them right. If we keep this side plus a few suitable additions i can honestly see us in the nat lge playoffs again next year. Great day to be an alty fan. Back where we belong... and still part time fan owned.

"Holmes isn't a centre forward" - I never said he was, and neither is Donawa or Campbell. But I said having him back strengthens us "up front", which he does.

As does Charman, unknown quantity or not. Because he becomes an option we can try.
