Forgive my ignorance, but can you explain why Swann is so detested. I remember him leaving Gainsborough and thinking you'll do well with him and his money.
He shook hands with our chairman to take over at Lincoln when we were in the conference, then rocked up at Scunny who were two or three divisions higher at the time (How things change.)

We dodged a bullet there.

I remember him trying to buy Gainsborough's ground, which was owned by a fan's trust, but they refused to sell. I suppose you had no say in the matter.
He invited a couple of supporters groups(OSC, London Supporters) to a meeting about it and they sat on their hands and did nothing.

Bottega Don has covered the situation spot on.

It’s far too early to say at this stage.

Based on the start alone obviously Oldham look in big trouble, seem reliant on Bahamboula but with another couple of international Windows and potential quarantine for red list Congo?

Main issue is their off field issues and they look in deep trouble.

Sutton had a good result but have struggled more than Hartlepool, time will tell on that one, if they can push on with that first win maybe.

Scunthorpe the obvious candidate, saw their goals conceded at the weekend and if you defend like that week in week out your down. Exeter had simple finishes with zero marking! Also with Oldham bad ownership seems to be killing them and hopefully both survive and get the right off field outcome.

The others predicted have had mostly good starts, Hartlepool flying at home. Is it the promotion bounce? Time will tell I guess but the more points in the bag early doors the less pressure.

Swindon mainly due to off field but have made good signings and a decent start so should be comfortable this season.

Rochdale the same.

Teams down there like Mansfield, Bristol Rovers and Tranmere would have the finance to turn it around and change manager if needed in the window.

Money would be on Oldham and Scunny but it’s so tight and so far to go yet.

To be honest, I'm still waiting to see League Two hit us in the face. We've played decent, occasionally a little better than decent, but I wouldn't say we've hit the heights yet and we still look short of goals, and yet it's still been more than enough to compete with the teams we've played so far.

My gut feeling is that our lack of urgency/ambition/whatever in strengthening our weak forward line and replacing Armstrong, Oates, even Bennett, will bite us on the arse and prevent us from having as good a season as we should have been capable of, but that this will be offset by having Dave Challinor in charge. He will be able to keep us competitive regardless.

Sutton look next best (/worst) because they’ve committed the classic cardinal sin of assuming that there’s not much difference between the divisions and kept their promotion squad together.
To be fair though, in 2008 we made the same "cardinal sin".....and ended as runners up by May 2009!

Based solely on our results so far Bristol Rovers and Scunthorpe must be clear favourites for the drop...while L'Orient have already urinated upon this tinpot league.

Every other club will be bracketed within three points of 12 place.

It’s too early to start all this.

Mansfield have had a bad start defensively but will be more than fine, tranmere have been mentioned but will also be fine, maybe challenging for bristol rovers with barton and the farce they’ve got about their manager and his court case which is probably causing problems.

I’d imagine oldham and scunthorpe if i had to choose would be the real candidates

We were tipped by virtually everyone on here to be relegated before a ball was kicked.
Nice to see people have changed their minds.
For me it looks like Scunny & Oldham, but to be honest ,I don’t really care as long as it’s not us.

In the relegation zone now, I would be surprised if we ever got out of it from this point.

We’ll likely be in and around the bottom 6 as the season shapes up, therefore it’s right to discuss us in this thread. We are shite.

So basically Mansfield are the League 2 version of Ipswich Town this season. High spenders with expectations of promotion but with an extremely rubbish defense causing their team to be shite.

We look doomed on and off the pitch.
But it is too early to make any predictions really.
Things change quickly.

Pretty much!

Especially given perch is out for the season with a fractured skull, easily our best defender. We’ve had some real rotten luck so far this season.

However, having a shambles of a defence isn’t one of them, it’s completely inexcusable and tbh it’s embarrassing from clough and the DOF sharpe, it’s bordering on negligence.

The spending and expectations have very much stabilised to a reasonable level. Our strength in depth is a bunch of championship club young loanees that cost nearly nowt.

The defence is dreadful though.
