The whole set up is completely different and the squad we have now is as good as some of those in the National league. The fact we are full-time but train in Ely means the players effectively only come to the town on match days.We were completely ignored at the start of the season by anybody outside of our own club despite finishing the season strongly under the current management team. Alty should try playing Ross at centre half to get the best out of him. He looked pretty happy celebrating in the away end at Doncaster last week!
Interesting to know about Barrows. I wonder if he finds his way back to you at some point, if he's a fan.

He's just been handed a 3 game ban for violent conduct, something missed by the ref in our recent game against Wealdstone (the ref missed about 6 significant events in that game, but c'est la vie).

Darlo fans - I see its reduced admission on Saturday for the Trophy?

Will AA go full strwngth or concentrate on the league and rest a few do you think?

He left to stay at National league level but not sure full-back will ever be his best position. I was interested to read that he was given a ban for something nobody had seen at the time(sounds normal for most games now). How do you think you have coped with the going full-time this season? We have it spot on now but early last season was a bit of a shambles.

Reduced prices will fetch a few back on Saturday - Not a lot like.

We need the money and he'll play whoever's available. Rest we don't have that luxury of resting players. Might be one or two changes but I think AA will go for it.

That's just my thoughts like!

We've lost Joe Leesley he's gone back to Boston.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
Curzon have maybe the biggest game of their career tonight in the fa cup replay, probably worth over £100,000 if they won because with a poor second round draw they’d get on tv I’d think.

Very tough ask, think it hasn’t helped their league form and maybe best to get it out the way, but a win may allow them to improve side going forward which is very weak.

Tough ask, but curzon don’t leak many so if they can keep it tight maybe a little luck may come in.

You have a chance......... but not as big a one as you failed to take at home.

The Nash v The Mariners would definitely be a cracking tie on one of the best pitches I've seen outside the EFL.

Although U's are down to the bare bones and Curzon have a miserly hard working defence, I have a feeling the team we put out will finally break the goal drought and we might see 3 or 4. Always the optimist.

We will only have about 50 fans there I think. A coach is going down.

We seem better away from home because we are more a counter side but I think it will all depend on first half.

Cambridge score and we have to open out……long evening.

Cambridge fail to break through first half, nerves and grumbles from home fans…..then who knows.

We'll probably only manage to top 2,000. I can now go and when I got my ticket there was plenty of room in the Main Stand. We've closed the Habbin Terrace. So it'll not be a money-spinner.

At least the downpour is due to stop before kick-off, so we should get a result tonight.

The average home fans curzon get is about 200, a gate of 2,000 split in half is 4-5 home gates so it’s income.

After the costs, it won't come to much more than a decent home turn out I'm afraid.

But a chance of the £41,000 for winning plus TV and a fullish house at home (Grimsby will travel in far bigger numbers than us) is worth the effort.

Well, we're lower mid-table. We've been generally smashed by the better sides, and we've dropped a few points against the lesser sides.

There have been injuries which haven't helped, but without the loanees (and we have had tons of them) the squad is not as good as last year's IMO.

I guess full-time is all very well if you have a huge budget. Anything less and you are picking up scraps and hoping to find 19 year old unpolished diamonds wiling to work for peanuts until they get discovered.

Indeed, full-time isn't all it's cracked up to be. There are (I think) 22 full-time clubs in the National League, many of them distinctly moderate.

We've tried it twice in the last 15 years and failed with it both times. It's a nightmare for clubs of our size, unless there's someone throwing money into a club its hard work bringing in full-time players of appropriate quality, and decent part-time players just won't come for an overall pay cut.

Darlo fans. Weather looks a bit iffy for Saturday. Confident Blackwell Meadows pitch will hold up?

Today has been dreadful weather wise, if it’s the same over the next 2 days. Definitely won’t be on.

Fingers crossed the rain stops and the pitch is playable :)

I see that Joe Leesley has signed for Kidderminster from Boston. If he plays anything like he did at Darlo that's a cracking signing.

Boston must have taken leave of their senses.

Southport tomorrow in the trophy.

Doesn’t matter for me on result but I’d like this game to try a different more offensive approch

Within 12 months Lakeland has turned us from the most entertaining side in league to the most boring, lowest conceded, lowest scored……….heading to try and 0-0 our way to the drop.

We are very solid……now it’s time to use confidence in the defence to ‘have a go’

Went to watch Goole Town v Scarborough last night.
Scarborough are going to be in for a long hard season.Goole are a level 9 team and played them off the park for 60 mins.
Scarborough striker Luca Coalville looks a good player though.
Only having a plastic pitch will save them from drop.
This hasn't aged very well.

I think you got your wish. We were the best team for the first 30-40 minutes, after that there was only one team in it and it wasn't us. The level of experience Curzon showed was something our young team is lacking. There were no signs of tired legs after your 120 minutes against Cambridge the other night, probably because it was us doing most of the running trying to get the ball off you!

We went out of the Trophy to Kettering but likely to come back into the Trophy thanks to Kettering. Their goalscorer played for Bedford in a previous round and was therefore cup tied. Will see how that plays out.

As for the game, 9 first teamers missing and 3 under 18s on the bench (1 of which came on). Those under 18 lads also all played 90 minutes the night before.

Easy 4-1 win over Alfreton, without Mark Beck, Kaine Felix and the departed Joe Leesley. Might sooth the brows of the many who predicted disaster because we couldn't compete with a Transfer Fee and full time football for Leesley. We aren't a bad side without him.

Convinced these draws are fixed. How have we ended up with Fylde again

We're playing at Farsley tonight and we'll be going there again in the in the Trophy.
We'll play Fylde 5 times this season. Maybe 6 on the small chance we recover our season to make the playoffs. Still never beaten them. Was hoping for maybe a trophy run but that excitement has gone now

Time for curzon to finally sack Lakeland but they won’t god knows why.

12 months ago we were pushing the top 2 in the division playing a very expansive and exciting style of football.

One year of Lakeland’s reign has turned this around into a relegation bound borefest that may be lucky if it gets to 40 goals this season let alone 40 points!

Granted it can be tough as curzon will always lose the talent, the exciting players over time but the change is frankly disastrous
