Football Focus cut live to the Fylde vs Congleton game; a Fylde player did a pirouette on the ball and a Congleton defender booted him up in the air. #MagicoftheFAcup

Think that is Chorley's biggest crowd of the season. Even now, years on from the 'incident', they still seem to be obsessed with us.

That'll stay as it is biggest crowd of the season in the league. Theirs nobody else to visit Chorley with any support to match that figure.

Comfortable win for us. Absolute thunderbastard from Bainbridge to open the scoring, second goal from Walton after Niall Watson didn't give up on a lost cause, a Charlie Oliver penalty after a blatant handball, and an Archer header at the death to wrap it up. BPA scored (quite unreservedly) just before half time to make it 3-1 just to keep it interesting.

Having Marcus Carver back on loan is making a huge difference to us, he's fit straight back into the team and his work rate and physicality up top is what we've been missing.

BPA are no better than when we drubbed them 5-0 on the final day of last season. They look doomed.

Hi all,

Have been on the other forum where all the national league talk is but have missed reading this thread. The wilkin decision seems really bizarre and quite uncharacteristic of Brackley having stuck with him for so long. A slow start in the summer was surely expected with the squad turnover they had. Maybe they had been on the search for a new manager ever since the summer as 8th in the league isn’t really a sackable offence.

Sounds like the Board had been looking for a little while. The Worksop FA cup game was a shocker and so unlike anything Wilkins` sides has delivered over six years. But of course continued play off defeats wrecking a side that was good enough to hold its own in the NL, and then the breakup starting. Maybe the view was that he had got the squad as far as he could, it grew stale, and fresh impetus was needed. Should be interesting when Johnson meets Dean, after that Trophy final and the former`s OG off the latter`s header!

Wilkin did an outstanding job at a very small club at this level, and should be snapped up quickly. Johnson and his sidekicks have a lot to live up to, but let`s see how it goes.

BPA away today a type of game curzon always fail in and for me usually the reason we never get above midtable.

We usually fare well again the mid table sides, plus the bigger failing clubs, we normally give the best sides a hard game……but we normally flog these games when we play a side which we should beat.

I sometimes think it’s that lack of needing to ‘raise our game’ hurts a small club like ours.

Last season we flogged it failing to beat farsley, Gloucester, Telford etc etc I think one win in the 6 games had we won them we’d had a play offs.

Time to either deliver today or forget top 7

Lost another home game1-0 to a fluky goal. We are toothless up front and a decent crowd in. We hardly ever win when there is a crowd in.

Didn't see that one coming! Not a single new signing, and 2 down within about ten minutes. Really thought we were on for an absolute hiding.. First half was poor but McClure managed to get a goal back before the half and we had a bit of a fighting chance.

Second half, God knows what Steven King said but we came out positive and attacked Southport and nicked a win thanks to two second half goals by Kieran Phillips. Not gonna get carried away but I'm absolutely certain we would have lost that game under Mansell, because he just never set us up to attack or be on the front foot. Alfreton next week, let's see what next Saturday brings!

Definitely didn't deserve to lose and it was a bit of an odd goal that proved the difference, seemed like a cross that got a deflection and weirdly went in.

Got in to good positions but we were very shot shy, mind you Tyrer didn’t have much to do either. Weeks annoyed me, everyone raves about him because he looks so tidy on the ball but we’ve just gone 8 unbeaten without him and the second he’s back all the sidewards stuff returns.

Darlington a good side, not the prettiest or easiest on the eye, but seemingly effective.

Usual horrific result against the crap of the division, least we can focus on cups as top 7 never a possibility when you cannot ever beat the worst the division has.

No point taking 4 points from kings lynn and Scarborough to get 1 point from farsley and BPA

To be honest the match had 0-0 written all over it after half-time. In which I would have took that result before I even stepped foot in the ground. It wasn't pretty entertainment wise from the terraces both keepers had hardly anything to do it was one of those games where really nothing much was created from both sides.

I wrote this about one of our other games where it was gonna take a penalty, something special but not a slice of good fortune. In which that is what's happening at the moment with us we seem to be having the rub of the green. In which is usually the case when your flying high in the table.

I think as a unit we are much more tougher solid in defence and getting better after soaking up quite a bit of pressure towards the latter end of the match.

I think Chester will turn things around at some stage that's definite, maybe the FA Cup was on a few players minds. Good luck against Oldham.

Unfortunately they all count but yes if the shoe were on the other foot I'd be a bit miffed. As always love going to Chester great atmosphere and a fantastic ground so jealous.

Like I said to Bluandwite it wasn't a great match from the stands. 0-0 or whoever scored first was always gonna be the outcome.

Not all is lost onwards to Oldham in the FA Cup and do the business. Good luck!

Armstrong certainly has adopted a more pragmatic attitude this season. Always known for his gung-ho style of football, but has concentrated this season on making us very difficult to beat.

It's always nice to get a win at a proper club. Hopefully Chester can join us in the top 7 this season.

What the heck happened to Kidderminster at home to Farsley?

Our worst performance in a long time. Farsley sat deep and we were struggling to break them down. We then resorted to going more direct which just played straight into their hands. Their first was a header from a really poorly defended free kick and their second they hit us on the break after an underhit pass in our midfield. We never looked like scoring.

To be honest, there are rumblings of discontent. We haven't started the season dreadfully, but we've had some really poor performances in amongst them (Curzon, Brackley and Farsley in particular). Lost a lot of big players in the summer and the replacements aren't quite looking close to the level at the moment.

Adam Rooney in at Brackley. There must be plenty of opinion on here about the guy. Has he still got the legs?

Darlington terminate Marcus Maddison's contract by mutual consent.

A fair few rumours going around about why but the lad hardly featured for us.

It'll no doubt free up a decent wage to get someone else in who maybe will play more of a part.

2nd in the league without him, anyway. I hope he can get his career back on track.

A game of two halves sums up todays match. I thought we were decent in the first half but totally different in the second for whatever reason. I thought Brackley were a good side and fully deserved an equaliser it was always on the cards.

I thought the officials were absolutely dreadful in a nutshell fuckin useless! I've got nothing against Rivers but for me he fetches nothing to the table when he comes on and I don't think Lambert was too pleased.

Decent performance from the lads, especially the likes of Purver he's playing like a man possessed. Beck once again all over the place grafting and Felix had one of his better games. And a cracking goal from Danny Rose!

Couldn't understand the booing at the final whistle! Fuckin disgraceful.

Chorley won the points in a dull game against a poor Lesmington side. The Referee was dreadful, particularly second half refusing at least 2 stonewall penalty appeals. We really need to start putting away chances though as a better side would have punished our wastefulness.

Pretty much agree with that word for word.

Brackley look like a good side again this season so I'd have probably settled for a pointy before kick off.

The officials are getting worse and worse.

Went to a youth cup tie on Friday and the Oldham cup tie yesterday. I think short of a player pulling a gun out and shooting someone I'm not sure what we've got to do to get a pen. I think refs a have adopted the mantra that if anyone goes down in the box it must be a dive. Yesterday at Oldham it was a clear handball in the box, although I can't confirm that because I saw little of the penalty box action in front of me and I suspect few others did either. On Friday the foul was that bad that the Chester lad had 5 minutes of treatment on the pitch and then went off on a stretcher. The ref gave the assailant a yellow. We had the last laugh though because he injured himself committing the foul and could not take his pen in the shoot-out as all 11 players on each side were needed. The decision was that his pen was counted as a miss and our GK stepped up to send us through. Poetic justice. Colin Woodthorpe, our ex-player and current assistant manager was at the match too. He was sacked by Fylde for taking time off to care for his terminally ill wife. He won his tribunal. Horrible club.
