Wimbledon (H) and Grimsby (H) for us. Feels as though we’ve got absolutely no momentum at the moment.

Well all of a sudden we're 7 points off third with two games in hand having come through Stockport (a), Mansfield (h) and Stevenage (a) unbeaten and with 5 points. Simply have to win our two home games next week because its our record at VP that's letting us down big time.

trips to carlisle and tranmere in the next week, if we’re still in the playoffs after that i’d be delighted.

Tranmere and Barrow at home next. Two tough games but we really need to start putting a run together. Minimum of four points imo. Would be delighted with six.

Curzon Ashton....and Carlisle
If you want to go up you don’t have tricky games………all should be games you can win.

It seems like forever now but when Carlisle last won title I remember us playing Macclesfield away on the Tuesday in the area final, going I think into extra time, then on the Friday night being away to 2nd place Northampton, probably with a few thinking Simpson stupid for playing first team midweek and then thumped them 3-0.

If your going to go up you win the games, doesn’t matter who it is or where they sit in table.

Something I spotted posted on stagsnet, in our next seven games we play five sides in the top 7, 5 out of the 7 are away too.

If we manage to brush our injuries aside and actually do well enough to stay in the play-offs after that I’ll be very surprised.

We are a soft touch at the moment. Just be organised and we won't break you down.

Especially with cloughs record against the top sides being as poor as it is

How's Jake Young done for you so far?

He's had 15/20 mins here and there so haven't seen enough of him to judge. I'd like to see him more involved in the upcoming games (apart from when we play you obviously) as we don't really have any forwards deserving of their place at the moment.

Think Carlisle in the end will miss out. Think we have the best forward options in the division, but Carlisle have too many off days to be consistent enough to be there at the end.

Our goalie isn’t a promotion quality goalie and our defence too prone to lapse mistakes.

When we won the L2 title previously our big key centre back in derek mount field and then kev grey just never had poor games and was always a constant.

This back line…….too inconsistent for top 3. Play offs a chance as it requires just a couple of good performances.
We've only conceded 3 since New Year's day and two were own goals...

Rochdale (H) and Crawley (H) for us next week. Excited to see how we cock things up from here.
Those teams are so bad I expect you to pick up 7 or 8 points from those 2 games.

We’re top of the form table with 11 out of the 15, which is crazy.

Stockport County.
Mansfield for me. I've said them all along. I'm not a major officianado of this league but I just think they've got one of the best, most experienced squads in the league, an experienced and very competent manager in Clough and they're still the best I've seen all season.

I know AdamStag is not buying it too much, perhaps slightly weary after a few failed attempts but I have a feeling for them. I hope they go automatic because no other team jumps at me if we were to get in the play-offs it's anyones game.

Certainly from our games Mansfield have been the stand out team too, dark arts, strong and a few decent players in there too. I’ll be surprised if they don’t go up

It all depends if we can carry on this form until some of our players come back, It’s a bit bizarre how well we are doing at the minute considering but I do think with some of the tough games coming in the next 6 we will struggle without so many regulars, we look vulnerable at full back and midfield with depth issues.

That being said, players are starting to hit form, Akins is finally showing the player that was at Burton, Dunn looks like an upgrade on Lapslie and Kilgour is a clear upgrade on playing Hawkins in defence. Shame about Louis Reed getting injured.

Jake Young looks out of his depth in league 2. Not sure whether he will improve with experience, personally I think not.

We were absolutely shocking last night, not played that badly all season. So long as it serves as a wakeup call, the lads deserve to be given a bit of slack here.

Not that I'm trying to take credit away from Mansfield, who were excellent. By far the best performance I've seen from an opposition side this season. Well drilled, and knew exactly what they were doing - and they were ruthless in front of goal.

Big reaction needed from us on Saturday, but Colchester have won their last 5 away games...

As any mansfield will say who know me, i’m a cynical bastard, though i wouldn’t change them for the world

I see what you’re doing…

But, I’ve just had a look at the league and I can easily see you finishing 3rd. Nailed on in fact.

I hope you’re right, i said last season we wouldn’t go up when we were in the top 3 and a few points clear of 4th

My reasoning is that
1) our injuries are really pretty horrific currently
2) we’ve got a crazy run in
3) even if the other 2 don’t happen were mansfield and will fuck it up when it matters.
4) the top 3 will be orient/stevenage plus salford or stockport

Bar Orient and Satanage none of the chasing pack have been consistent, I can see you coming good now at the right time. Organised, strong and effective, the three qualities you need most to get out of this league.

Orient have been complaining about injuries for a bit too but tbh they’re almost as good as up.

I think most teams have tough run-ins - there are so many sides still in the hunt that we've all got to play 5 or 6 of them at the minimum. Your performance last night was that of a team that could easily get promoted. You'll be there or thereabouts.

Mansfield have a game against Rovers next. Currently we’re in poor form and if one of our better players Morris is out injured, wouldn’t be too hopeful.
