Them stats surprise me, I thought you’d have much higher season tickets and less POTD but fair enough. No chance our budget is just about competing in the top half, most likely comfortably top 3. As managers like Simpson and Evans like to remind us.
2k season tickets is very low for us, but you factor in Steve Evans, two years of covid, a terrible season last year and no signs of investment for a prolonged period and it kind of makes sense. Then the Galinsons arrived at Christmas.

Maybe struggling for top half was harsh of me, but I don’t think your budget would blow anyone else out the water down here. I guess I’m saying it’s an anomaly when considering the size of your crowds

We have around 2k season ticket holders (shockingly poor I know even by our standards), and our crowds are around 6-7k recently, sometimes higher. I think the point is, you get excellent big crowd at commendable prices, but your budget is set to be just about competing in the top half

Disagree.

As mentioned, we typically turnover £8m. However, this season we’re actually competing on the pitch, so I’d expect it to be much higher this financial year.

Our commercial revenue has ticked over £1m for the first time in 22 years. An increase in the number of tickets sales will only add to it. I wouldn’t be surprised to see our turnover floating at £9m+. Not bad for a team who give tickets away, eh.

Our playing budget is always top 5 in this league. In fact, I’m lead to believe this seasons budget is pushing what our L1 budget was in 2018-2019 - £4m.

As for merchandise revenue, we haven’t dipped below £150k for years - barring CV19 write off.

We’ve just released our latest accounts - turnover was £6.4m. Any idea what yours was/is?
We were a little over half that in accounts to May 22, our first in the league. Season before that not even £1.5m. Punching!

Thought I'd make a quick comparison of everyone's run ins in the top 9 (realistic promotion contenders IMO though there are a couple of teams just outside that on good enough form they could challenge for the playoffs) since much has been made of how tough our remaining fixtures are and how hellogregory doesn't even think we'll make the playoffs let alone the automatic places.

It is true that on paper we have thed most games against other top 9 teams (basically everyone apart from Mansfield we're still to play) and have no games against the bottom 5 left, however I don't think we're talking about a huge discrepancy and four of those games are at BP where we have a good record. I don't buy HG's 'we did poorly against the top teams in the first half of the season therefore we're incapable of picking up points against any of them and will lose all 7 of those games' rationale. We weren't winning enough games in the early part of the season... now we are winning games. I'm not afraid of the likes of Stevenage and Northampton and the other argument is that we have the most opportunites to trip up the teams challenging us for promotion. If we can take points off most of the top teams we have to play and get professional comfortable wins against the mid-table sides (no relegation threatened teams to play any more might not a terrible thing) then we should be laughing.

Don't worry - we are 10th and on paper have one of the easiest run ins and you play us too. Apart from Carlisle, stevenage (last day) and Swindon everyone else is mid-table or worse. Inc Harrogate, gills, pools and Crawley

Fun fact: we beat all 11 of our remaining opponents earlier in the season.

That’s 7 of the current top 10 then.

Fantastic

Our run-in doesn't look too bad in my opinion. The three games I'm most worried about are the teams near the bottom. Our performances against struggling teams are lackluster.

Not too fussed about playing the higher teams, we're better in open games. It's those home ties against Dale and Pools that I'm worried about, we can't break down teams that come to EP for a point

After stockport our run of fixtures does on paper look easier, but only if we start to gain some form of luck with injuries.

We’ve every chance of making the playoffs if we get a bit of luck, but that ship needs to turn to give us that chance .

So 2 in the top 9, 5 mid table and 3 in 20-24th still to face.
Obviously we'll not win at Harragate as we never do - but if we did the next 4 are very winnable.

Results could not have gone much better for us at the weekend. We seem returned to similar results of last year with securing 1-0 wins consistently. Only difference being that we are not relying on set pieces this year to get us the goal.

Another big week with lots of teams playing in and around the promotion hunt playing each other. Momentum is going to shift week to week.

I wonder how many points will be needed to go up automatically, 82?

Bad start to the week for us with Bowie being called up to the under 21 squad.

I think 82 will probably be enough for top 3 this year, but a lot of teams in the hunt still have to play each other so it's hard to say.

I think we'll still be fine for a top 3 spot, had a bit of a wobble recently, and have drawn our last 3 from winning positions which is very frustrating but I can see a repeat of 05/06 with us, Carlisle and Northampton claiming the autos.

Bradford vs Stockport would be a great play off final.

It would, but I actually think we’ll play them in the semi’s.

That being said, I still believe we have a real chance at the autos.

Tomorrows game against Carlisle is fucking massive - I just hope we turn up.

It would be good in terms of two sets of passionate fans.

But our two games this seasons have been dire. A 1 0 win at theirs for us via a penalty. And a 0 0 at EP.

One thing I've got in my head is train strikes for that Bank Holiday weekend too which would dampen the fun.

The worry for me is we’re more than likely not going to show up, or won’t put out a side better than the underperforming untouchables of the last few weeks. Plus I’m flying out on holiday the day of the PO final so I’m hoping for a miracle 2013 esk run that gets us straight up (I’m not holding my breath).

Tbh, we’re far more likely to beat Carlisle than Hartlepool - it’s been that way all season.

Currently, we can’t change personnel without changing formation. 4312 has served us very well since Hughes implemented it a few weeks ago.

However, I do agree that some of the lads need a rest, but the Carlisle game isn’t the time to start tweaking things IMO.

Banks definitely needs more game time, he always looks like scoring when he comes on.

Whereas the boat (unless anything massive changes) for the top 3 has gone, we’ve now 3 successive home games to grimsby, sutton and crawley. 3 games that you’d be eyeing up as wins.

Now i’ve been around long enough to work out things like that don’t always happen, but if we were to get 7 from that we’d be right back in the playoff hunt.

Let’s be honest with our current set of players available we are there for the taking by any of them, plus Sutton are a proper bogey team for us - think we may have took a point off them once? Other than that we are usually beaten soundly by them and Harrogate.

I’m not overly optimistic but i think we’ve got a chance with the games, grimsby just because of yesterday and they’ll have travelled etc, and crawley because of where they are.

Correct about sutton in fairness, we’d need to ensure we’re ready for a physical battle but it’s also a game we can win.

As i said in original post i’ve been around enough to know that we probably won’t get 9 points but it’s certainly possible.

Reading the fishy ahead of our game tomorrow night prompted me to have ago on that league predictor on there.

I've got Orient as champions with Stevenage and Northampton going up. Carlisle 4th, Bradford 5th, Mansfield 6th and Stockport 7th.
