Reading the fishy ahead of our game tomorrow night prompted me to have ago on that league predictor on there.

I've got Orient as champions with Stevenage and Northampton going up. Carlisle 4th, Bradford 5th, Mansfield 6th and Stockport 7th.

DEAL

It’s basically between the top 8 as it stands.

Mansfield have the games in hand but are sadly decimated by injuries we’ve northampton and stockport away before playing imposter sutton (the proper one being in nottinghamshire) if we’re anywhere near the playoffs after that i’ll be delighted.
You mean Sutton-in-Ashfield?

I would say the rest of who you say can get into the play offs but Northampton are more or less iin the playoffs if they don't go for automatic. Bradford and Stockport down, it is open.

First post in this thread.

It’s getting to the business end now so figured I’d join.

As mentioned elsewhere, with our sheer lack of the required quality to beat teams at the top, I don’t think there’s much of any chance we’re finishing top 3 with the games we have coming up. These last few days have shown how much we are lacking when it comes to hurting these teams.
I’m clinging onto hopes we do enough to finish in the top 7, but even that is doubtful given the points we’re likely to drop over the coming weeks.

But I’m going to try to enjoy it as whatever happens it’s been a fantastic season given where we were a year ago.

Was going to say they’ll be a few grimsby fans here tonight i’d imagine.

Hoping for another 7,000 plus crowd tonight despite it being a *wednesday, with 3 home games in a row it’s now or never really

Steady on, I don’t think you’ll only have 3 home fans, would be a decent Grimsby following to get it up to 7k though

A dire week for us. 0 goals, 0 chances created, 2 points.

As predicted, our form has fell off a cliff as soon as we’ve started coming up against the better sides in the division.

Who do we have next? *checks fixtures*
Oh it’s Orient away.

Top 3 hopes are over due to the fixtures we have + our lack of quality imo. Personally I don’t think we’ll finish top 7 either, but while we have the cushion there’s always the chance that others will do us a favour and we’ll scrape enough points ourselves. As for if we actually get in the playoffs… we’d need a huge slice of luck to win them. Like Greece Euro 2004 levels.

Remaining Fixtures:

Grimsby Town (h) - draw
Crawley Town (a) - win
Sutton United (h) - win
Rochdale (a) - win
Swindon (a) - draw
Gillingham (h) - win
Northampton (a) draw
Leyton Orient (h) - loss (unless they’re already crowned Champions, we might scrape a draw).

16 points from our remaining games should see us finish 5th-6th. Puts us on 77 points.

EDIT: forgot to mention Crewe away - that’s yet to be rearranged. Fancy us to win there too, so we’ll finish on 80 points. Good enough for 3rd place?

These are our remaining 8 fixtures and being realistic while trying to be optimistic at the same time…

Leyton Orient (A) defeat
Tranmere (H) win
Walsall (A) draw
Northampton (H) defeat
Stockport (H) defeat
Barrow (A) win
Salford (H) draw
Sutton (A) defeat

That’s with my optimistic hat on. Can see the barrow game being more dropped points but put a win because we beat them convincingly a month or so ago. That would give us 8 more points, finishing on 74. It may be enough for a top 7 finish, but last season it was 77 points. So wouldn’t be surprised if we miss out.

2 wins out of 8 for a team in 4th. very optimistic indeed.

For us...
Stevenage (H) D
Newport (A) W
Gillingham (H) W
Carlisle (A) W (only because they are so bad)
Sutton (A) L
Harrogate (H) W
Bradford (H) D
Tranmere (A) W

if only I was an optimist.

Who is even going to replace you in the playoffs? We’re 8th and don’t even look like scoring a goal nevermind winning a game.

Your boys.

I don’t see it. Last 10 games you’re picking up 1.7 points a game, carry that over the last 7 and you end up with 86 points. To catch you we’d need 17 points from our last 8, 5 wins 2 draws and a defeat.

With us still having to play Carlisle, Stevenage, Bradford, Gills, Sutton I don’t see it. You’ll be fine.

Ah, but I think we’re only going to stumble to 82. Much more achievable for any of the chasing pack.

On flip side we just had two of our unluckiest grounds we are always shit at Bradford and gillingham.

Orient and Walsall away are grounds we have good then bad spells at, tranmere Northampton and Salford at home we fare well in.

We played shit for one game losing to Gillingham who were also shit.

So just because we lost and I'm bitter about it, this whole league is therefore shit and anyone who goes up will come straight back down.

I would be more concerned if we'd suddenly started to concede a bucketful of goals but we haven't. We were 30 seconds away from a third clean sheet in a row.

In isolation the Stevenage and Bradford results were more than acceptable. We then had to face a long journey away to a confident team after facing two stern tests during the same week.

The lack of goals is concerning, we need to go back to a more consistent front two. I'd look to start Dennis every game, he's the only striker who is a natural finisher. The problem is he doesn't really train so needs to be starting games to maintain his rhythm.

16 more points should be the target. We could get those by only scoring 4 more goals!

Exactly that, he's changing the forwards about too much and Dennis who is our top scorer by a mile should be guaranteed a start. I think it should be him and Edmondson starting up front but definitely Dennis for the goals.

I don't care who we're playing now, we have to go out there ATTACK score goals AND fucking beat these c*nts!
No more fannying around scared of playing L2 teams ffs.

And no more sad 'down in the dumps' pissing their pants at the prospect of going up fans like hellogregory, spreading negative vibes.

We should definitely makes the play offs hellogregory you fucking over the top pessimistic twat!
