Second to last game of the season has the potential to be ridiculous. One thing for sure is it will not be 3pm on the Saturday.
Having yourselves and Stockport at home feels like a great opportunity. Winning those games all but puts you both to the sword.

Although the form table looks healthy for us, we haven't been playing very well lately and it wouldn't take much for those 1-0 wins to turn into 1-0 losses. Still, we have an excellent run-in, playing a lot of teams with nothing to play for. The bookies rightly have us as favourites, but still very much to play for.

I was looking at our fixtures and was encouraged by having a lot of teams with nothing to play for but then I imagine it's the same for everybody because the bottom four look nailed on, the title winners are nailed on so it's only really 2nd-9th that will have anything to play for.

think someone's dissing the integrity of the mid-table trophy here. Poor form.

We're promoted if Wycombe don't beat Reading on Saturday and we win vs Barnsley and vs Peterborough on Tuesday.

We'll be champions on Tuesday if the above happens and Wrexham fail to beat both Burton (Saturday) and Wigan (Tuesday).

If those scenarios fail to materialise, it'll still happen. No-one's catching you...just enjoy the ride until it does.

Congrats to Brum although it's been a foregone conclusion for a long time.

Perhaps time to check in on the race for the last playoff spot though.

Reading's run-in (68 pts currently)

It's between Bolton and Reading for me, looking at the form table...

Playoffs almost sewn up for us now with a 10 point gap. Keen to try and get 4th for the second leg at home and also want to avoid Stockport as they’re the one team I worry most about beating over two legs. Automatics out of reach but we still have a big say in who makes them with games against both Wrexham and Wycombe to come

Do you think they’re out of reach? I mean, you’ve still got to play both Wrexham and Wycombe so potential to make up points there. Wycombe have Stockport too and I wouldn’t say Wrexham’s away games are straightforward at all.

I’d say so. We need to win every game and hope Wrexham slip up 3 times, unless we can boost our GD against them with a decent margin win. That’s before needing Wycombe and Wrexham to slip up too. Although we can be one of the games they slip up in we’re not great away so to go to both Wrexham and Wycombe to win would be a huge ask. It’s not impossible but I can’t see us going 4 from 4

We ( Huddersfield) have zero chance of making playoffs , as a team we are completely shot offering nothing especially in away games . The fans players owners all know it. As a regular attendant I’ve even lost interest and looking at next season . You may think I’ve given up but sometimes as a fan you just know and I know. Take us out of the equation and good luck to the rest of you. I will enjoy watching the race as a neutral and can honestly say I have no real preferences.

How does it work when 2 teams are level on points AND goal diff at the end of the season...is it still the team who's scored the most goals wins?
Could well happen this year... :ffs: <----for us

Edit: Yep, thought so...
"If any two or more Clubs have scored the same number of points and have the same goal difference, the higher or highest placed Club shall be the Club having scored the most goals in League Matches in that Season.”

Congratulations Wrexham, I know you've had plenty of Johnny come lately wankers and all but you did your time with us back in the day so can't begrudge the long terms.

Sam Smith is alright, ain't he? Please pay off Mullin and send him back. Ta lads.

Edit: And there you have it, scenes like that and the camera lingering on the Canadian moneyman for two minutes. Look at the fucking scenes!!!

Ah well.

Congratulations Wxm, we weren’t strong enough to continue our good form of the first half of the season, the team that keeps up the points week in week out reaps the rewards, so it is what it is.

Everyone secretly dreams of being the L1 Walsall anyway, right? Right? :ffs:

Stuff dreams are made of for the OG Wrexham lot who were used to aways at Guiseley and North Ferriby not too long ago. Championship will obviously be a stern old test, but something tells me the upward momentum isn't stopping yet. No reason why playoffs aren't achievable with the resources, there's some teams in that league with no pot to piss in.

Mmm not sure i agree, the gap between the Championship and League One is huge in terms of finance, think they will need to increase wages 5fold to be amongst the top sides. Ipswich apart, has anyone gone straight through?

Well done to them but this will be a massive test. They'll also have one of the smallest capacities in that league, maybe only Oxford and Luton (if they stay up) will be smaller.

You're going back a while for the last straight through, Norwich or Wolves maybe? Or Sheffield United? Either way, not recently and with a gulf like there is now.

The Championship is a whole other level though, you're talking most clubs losing between 10m and 35m a year. Gotta buy all the Wonka bars if you want the golden ticket.

I'd certainly take 21st, as i'm shitting myself at the prospect of all these clubs i've watched in years gone by and we've not had a sniff at playing any of them until now, or if they had an off year and dropped down to division 2 (league one as it is now) - ala Man City.

It hasn't kicked in yet but by god what a journey. Momentum doesn't want to stop us!

Congratulations to Birmingham and Wrexham - some good memories of playing the latter in the 2nd tier ages ago.

Yep, I remember going to Watford when we were last in The Championship (or Div 2 as it was then) Your ground's changed muchly since those days - one side had about three different heights if I remember rightly.
See ya next season :2thumb:

That was probably the old east stand.

Got a new one now and the corners are filled in.

Away end not great though - cramped and no alcohol sold which annoys some visitors.

You'll probably get us on the Tuesday/Wednesday night as we seem to play Welsh sides then (and not really got a great record either..)

Won't bother me at all tbh....I'd have had plenty enough by the time I get in the ground... :bg:
I've never understood the obsession with wanting a pint at the ground- go to a pub instead and have a decent pint - you can't watch the game and sip anyway and there's never enough time at half time

Well we're leaving this forum almost as soon as we'd arrived. Didn't think for a minute it would be through the attic hatch and not via the trapdoor exit.

Would have taken a bedding-in season tbh, but when the opportunity presented itself, it had to be gone for!

Exactly the same for next season. Most 'realistic' Wxm fans know it's gonna be one mahoosive jump up in ...well, everything really, and it's all about surviving the first season.

However....our chairmen are glass half-full blokes. The squad we've just gone up with will have a major chopping - we still have almost double figures of the squad that was in the NL, so it HAS to be.

Parky and his team's recruitment policy has been clever and obviously, effective. The feeling is they'll be following the same model and not signing anyone *major* - but the one quality they must have (apart from being able to play a little bit...) is they must be able to gel into the dressing room we have. That's the one common comment we've had from every new player once they've bedded-in, it's the best dressing room spirit they've ever played with bar none, and is probably one of the main reasons we've gone up again.

Since we got promoted, reading the comments sections on the gazillion articles & posts I've read, there's been the usual (and expected) bile of buying promotion etc etc, but I've definitely seen a lot more of the 'credit where credit's due' type of posts than I thought I would.
B2B2B promotions has, after all, never been done before...and there's been loads of clubs who've thrown boatloads of money around before, so it's not just that, so Parky deserves a huge amount of credit IMO.

Going forward a couple of weeks, I'd personally like to see SUFC come up with us again, and continue our journey together from non-league, plus they've been up there all season, and deserve it more methinks.

Anyway, I'll leave you (...for now) and good luck for your respective clubs for next season. :bye:
