Encouraging first game for the Cowleys. Our first come-from-behind win since April 2019. Not bad after one training session.

Already seeing a different approach - forwards that press and harass the opposition's defence. Getting plenty of bodies into the box when we attack. Ipswich probably unlucky not to get something from the game but a good way to end four defeats on the bounce.

Blackpool deserved their win against us today as they were comfortably better.

The most stop start game. 39 fouls in all, 7 yellows I think and not a bad foul all game.
We setup defensively and it worked, Hull couldnt get going and scored with their only real chance, a good hit from Doc. That said we struggled as well and got a huge slice of luck when Ogbeta's superb free kick came back off the bar and hit the keeper to go in.

Today though was all about remebering Steve Jagielka, just a shame a full house not there to give him a send off

We were terrible in the first half, average in the second, so happy to come away with a point particularly as it was same result for all teams at the top. Couldn't help feeling if we'd started with Magennis rather than bringing him on at half time, we'd have got into the game and come away with a win. Shrews were very good in midfield today, a bit ropey in defence, and atrocious up front. Still a good mid table side though, hard to beat on their own turf.

You can see by our goals for that weve struggled all season in that department. I'll take mid table given where we were when Cotterill was appointed!

I know it’s said almost every season, but it’s a piss poor league this time round. There are teams in the bottom 6 who, in a half decent season, would be well adrift by now. Conversely, there are teams in the top 6/8 who would be distinctly mid table.

Mediocrity abounds.

Exactly I can’t believe every week results are pretty much perfect for all of the other clubs down at the bottom. Crying out for someone to string a couple of wins together (a la Burton)

When I saw you lot moaning about the team and how he’d lost the plot etc I nearly replied ‘Swindon win today then’ so when I saw you go 1 up early I wasn’t surprised at all haha

Winning 1 game isn’t going to keep us up. Tuesday away at Bristol Rovers will be a better pointer.

Good point for us at Sunderland, although could've been three in the end. Decent performance by all accounts, definitely not from Carl Boyeson who managed to tick off Lee Johnson, get in the way of play and check the ball was in the quadrant at corners all in the opening 15 minutes and didn't really improve as the game went on either!

Shouldn't the assistants do that?

Carl Boyeson needs everyone to know who's in charge...!

I'm assuming it was the other end of the pitch to where the linesmen would normally be.

I dont buy into this, more like a very competitive league where everybody can beat everyone else
Promoted teams from league 2 have had to adjust to a tougher league, also relegated team from the Championship have not had things all their own way. Ok Hull are top but have still lost 10 games ( including a thrashing from us 4-1 ).
Is your 'piss poor league ' comment more about your own teams failings ? Btw Swindon were better than Doncaster/Charlton and Ipswich who we have played in recent weeks. I welcome the fact that 'surprise'results ' are with us all the time, no team should ever get taken for granted
My mini 'tirade' over..........

Well, yes it’s about my own team’s failings. We should be dead and buried by now, but we are not. I’m sure the other 5 or 6 teams around us would feel the same. All of us are dreadful but we appear to be equally dreadful.

Charlton and Donny who have both been pretty poor of late are still in the POs cos no team below them is good enough - maybe Blackpool - to take advantage.

Your equally good is my equally bad.

We’ve been largely awful since December and at one point yesterday we were 5th

I forgot that one of our commentators gave the perfect answer as to why JB got a yellow card, when he said “Being Joey Barton is a cautionable offence.”

We imposed ourselves and were comfortable in the first half, we didn't turn up for the second.

Draw would have been the right result but hey ho. Hopefully this week without a midweek game gives Cook time to impose his playing style and get the boys pulling in the right direction.

The Sheridactyl has finally lost the plot.

He decided in the week to drop our 2 regular CBs - probably without even thinking we haven’t got any more! So it’s a line up with no CBs.

I wasn’t going to bother watching the latest shit show episode. Now, out of morbid curiosity, I’ve got to see how this horror show unfolds.

He's reverted to picking names out of a hat now. What on earth is that lineup?
Lol.

A broken clock is correct twice a day. I suspect this was more luck than judgement but we'll see how we build on that result on Tuesday.

The Cowleys forte going behind and winning, we did it loads of time.
Very good at getting teams to finish games more strongly than the opposition, we won loads of games right at the end.
Enjoy you're in for an exciting few months, it's never dull with the Cowleys in charge

Well played Swindon and a thoroughly deserved 3 points. Better all over the pitch, winning 50/50 battles here there and everywhere and a comprehensive victory. Your up to 19th and I hope you are successful in maintaining league 1 status - I have absolutely no idea why you are in such a precarious position
Oh yes, and good on John Sheridan

I don't know if Saturday was more luck than judgement but despite not playing ANY proper Centre backs in the back 3 we didn't particularly look troubled until you brought the pacy winger on in the second half.

Fleetwood seemed to have a lot of posession in their own third but we actually pressed quite well and I wasn't overly concerned for most of the 90, which is a very rare thing this season. Trust me, we are in a precarious position because we have been abject for 90% of the season. Most of the STFC fans have no idea where that performance came from, its as rare as hen's teeth. We absolutely have to build on that performance, more like that and we'll amazingly stay up.

Big game for us and Rovers tonight. We seem to play better away from home - although that hasn’t always translated into points.

I’ve given up expecting 2 good results/performances in a row after probably our best one of the season at Fleetwood.

Rovers fans seem just as despondent about their chances of escaping relegation as us so have no idea how the game will pan out. We don’t seem to do draws so it’s a big win for one of us tonight!

It will be interesting to see if Sheridactyl sticks with what we went with on Saturday or chops and changes it again. Missilou is away with DR Congo and his replacement, Lyden is broken so I think he might put someone like Jack Payne in there, which is a shame as his energy in the final third was important on Saturday.

I suspect Rovers won't give our back 3 of non-centre backs such an easy ride as Fleetwood did on Saturday.

Interesting man management skills shown by Mr Barton at Rovers; I assume it's aimed to be a kick up the arse for Max. (whoever he is, Ehmer I'm guessing)

JB said today "Don’t forget I’ve known Max from when I was at QPR. He was training with us when he was 20 and the observations of him then haven’t changed much to the observations of the player I’ve found now.

"That is worrying in that period of time, seven, eight or nine years, if you’re still making the same mistakes.

"I think you can only help yourself. He can only help himself first and foremost before you can help any of your teammates."
"Captain when we came in, and I just don’t understand that," Barton said.

"How can that be the leader, the person you set out as the head of your organisation, as the head of your troops?

"He’s got a lot of work to do, the boy. We’ve got to build him back up and it’s not straightforward, and, as I say, I can only help people who want to help themselves.

"We’ve got no time for passengers, and as cruel as that may seem, unfortunately this is not a charity. This is an elite performing environment that is not elite performing at this moment in time and it’s my job to get it there, because I’m a custodian of the building.
