Who knows what to expect for us. Two sides with zeros up so far, and to the same clubs as well.

Suspect we'll play fairly well, maybe announce a bloody striker near the end of the week and hope for the boost, but probably not get the 3 points whilst the teething situation continues.
Whats happened to Loft I see he hasnt featured for you guy's yet?

Home to Mansfield.

The opening two games have shown us to be what we'd expect at this stage, which is a good L1 side last season who lost key players over the summer and therefore a bit of a mish mash of players who know their roles and some who don't. We aren't a million miles off potentially being half decent again (in relative terms, I'm talking a top 10 side) but let down in two areas, which impacts the whole team, namely pace up front and someone capable of playing LWB because Duffy is waaaaaay out of his depth - he'd not even be first choice in what he would say is his strongest position.

Defensively we're a bit all over the shop because the back three are being exposed because of a number of reasons. The LWB issue, we're playing with a ridiculously attacking RWB and the midfield balance hasn't been there in the opening two games (playing two numbers 10's on top of two strikers!). McGrandles was on the bench against Barnsley and I suspect we might start him on Saturday and that'll help in midfield. That said, we have been making silly mistakes early doors and been punished for it quite ruthlessly (4 goals from 15 shots against - as a comparison for this game, Mansfield have allowed 42 shots against (worst in the division)).

Difficult one to call this early in the season, nobody has really sussed anyone out and it takes a while for the start of the season adrenaline to wear off. I don't think either side will see this game as a benchmark for their season.

I am not shocked by that shot statistic, in our starting line-ups we are usually starting with 4 strikers dotted around the pitch and DKD who is a 10 that sits behind the front two.

Not got the players defensively until we start getting a few back after this weekend, Clough is still playing a very offensively minded diamond formation from last season which is always going to leave us vulnerable while we only have two defenders on the pitch at this level.

No idea what to expect, be happy with a point and I suspect we will see goals.

Bolton should be a pretty good test for both sides. Despite 2 wins out of 2 we've not looked brilliant either game and I understand Bolton are similar with a draw against Wrexham and a goal gifted to the by Orient. I think this game has 0-0 written all over it, which I will take but would really like to see our creativity pick up

We have hardly seen him. He got injured in pre-season and only started his first game last Sat (although was hooked a few minutes into the 2nd half having done little apart from pick up a stupid yellow card)

Sounds about right. Good finisher, shit footballer. Works hard but a walking yellow card for something petulant.

We’ve had Bolton, Charlton and now Birmingham in our first 3 games and so far we’ve managed to hold our own, but we’ve not been definitive enough in the final third. Kelman missed chances against Bolton albeit Nathan Baxter was MOTM and against Charlton we do what we usually do and that’s overplay too much and ultimately punished by both our stronger opponents subs who have had a much bigger impact than ours have done.

Expecting the expected 3 defeats from 3 against Birmingham tomorrow, unless we can somehow find our shooting boots, stop the over playing and our defensive injuries aren’t too serious.

The speculation on Wellens also doesn’t help.

It’s a bad deal when you get a run of games like that, a lot at mansfield are weary we may need to have the points to stop up by the end of march given our april fixtures are -
Charlton home, huddersfield away, peterborough home, rotherham away, reading home and birmingham away

You’ll come good.

We may fluke something at Stockport tomorrow, we tend to struggle more in the games we are expected to win. We still have a lot of new players and players returning from injury so my head still says a loss

It's been a great start but we've played two poor teams (I don't know the general standard, just going off their own fans' thoughts) and still got a very bare bones for squad to choose from. Bookies being very generous here.

I dont even know what standard we are yet, I dont think MT knows his best wing backs or midfield either. If every Rovers fan predicted the starting XI, I doubt many would get it right.
I see you have Clint Hill and Andy Mangan there, luckily they will know nothing about us as most of Bartons recruits are gone.
Who apart from Barry should we be keeping a close eye on?

Sides are certainly faster and punish you more from what i’ve seen, but mansfield wrexham and stockport all improved over the summer (hard to say with crawley doing a chelsea and changing everything around)

As said before we’re got lincoln away and stockport next 2 games which are clubs relatively similar to us and will be a good sighter but still early days

Cambridge vs Blackpool. Sides defeated by two promoted teams. Should be a thriller. 1-1.

You played a poorly managed team. Thank you for the 3-0 home defeat. It caused the sacking of Critchley.

You have a quality player in Baggott, I was hoping he would come back to us.
He stood out on Saturday. A unit and good with the ball at his feet. Coached the right way he is Championship standard easily. I hope he can improve and push on.

He started off rocky, was even subbed after only 28 mins away at Stevenage, but soon settled down and ended the season well.

FYI for any Mansfield fans travelling, it's Steampunk weekend this weekend in Lincoln, so will be VERY busy. Maybe allow for extra time to get in.

And also note that the side streets around Sincil Bank are now permitted so you'll have to use the nearby car parks.

Cheers, will be in on the train about 12, so will have a walk up, from what i recall the wetherspoons tends to be off limit.

Remember when we were in league 2 there were small elements of lincoln fans who had quite the odd infatuation with mansfield, hopefully that doesn’t all start up again

It actually carried on for a few years after they got promoted which was bizarre, but not by the lot on here who are a good bunch.

Oh and there's the exciting prospect of watching Burton v Stevenage live on TV before our game.

Said no one ever.

I'm sure they usually pop away fans in the Spoons on the Brayford. I think away fans are fine in the other Spoons on the High Street though.

Heading from station to the ground you have...
A new place called Stack which is pretty cool, opened up in the old Argos / old St Marks Train Station. There were a few Barnsley fans in there last week.

Alternatively I like Imp and Angel or Tiny Tavern further towards the ground. Tiny places but pretty cool. Then you have Golden Eagle which has a good rep and beer garden.

I think only the Millers, Shakespeare and Anchor would be the ones that are home fans only and to avoid.

There's a really good fan zone at the ground too.

Up the high street towards the cathedral, i'd recommend Cardinals Hat

I'll be on the train in similar time.

Im assuming you've probably seen a few comments on twitter and assumed it's all Lincoln fans. Don't know any Lincoln fans that are arsed by Mansfield. A local game, assuming our closest this season, but thats it. Two similar size clubs, both getting much better gates than years gone by.

How can you accuse me of assuming it’s all Lincoln fans when you literally quoted my post suggesting it’s not the ones on here? For a few seasons even after you got promoted our socials were consistsnly full of weird Lincoln fans (probably the new ones) who had a serious disdain for our club, and in particular our owners who happen to be one of the best in the EFL.

I like our games against Lincoln, always a good atmosphere and the game usually has a bit more ‘edge’ to it than your standard one but it’s not a rivalry either, I’m looking forward to it tomorrow.
