Not exactly a thriller. We've now had Norwood forced off injured as well.

Quite frankly Braintree look a class above us. Even when they went down to 10 they still look better.

I actually think we will lose this.

Still 1-1 for all you #MaccMachineManiacs out there!

Edit - make that 2-1 to the blue boys! #ProjectDouble is back on!

Rumours breaking that Thierry Audel has been dancing around the away dugout slapping his chopper around all his ex team mates faces shouting "Macclesfield soon to be kings of Cheshire and Vanaramaland so fuck you little Alexandria ladyboys".

Should have won by 3 or 4 but can't finish as usual but who cares 1-0 is still 3 points which is what matters

FT Wrexham 0-0 FGR:

Uneventful first half, better second with exciting finish. Not the best result given results elsewhere, but another solid performance.

That's going to be a brilliant scene in the West End play of this season in a decade's time. I hear a rumour it continues into the away dressing room as well.

The Rovers and Grimsby machines just keep going. I can only hope that being off top spot will spur the lads on to get back to their 2014 form.

Oh here we go again.

I'm actually well pissed off with that late appointment, but it happens to us a lot aswell so ya know.

Bit odd though innit.

Must win game for Barnet at Alty for me.
Big game at the GIS on Saturday too. A win for Gateshead and they keep their play-off aspirations alive. A win for Rovers and they will have got a tough away game out of the way

You know that phrase "a good team wins games when they don't play very well"?

Well, I'm not sure if we're even a good team it's happened so much, if not it's our season's motto.

We were poor tonight, but it's another point. I can't help but think sooner or later we'll come unstuck and I'll think that right until the last game of the season.

Akinola was one of the better players I've seen all season.

If there is such thing as a comfortable 1-0 win, then that was it. We scored early enough in the second half and although they had a decent amount of possession then never really troubled McKeown. It was McKeown's own error that gave them their best chance and we were fortunate their player fluffed it but apart from that I can't remember him having that much to do tonight, apart from tripping himself up.

If you could slip up right at the end that would be great ;)

Nah seriously Braintree are an akward side to play and its all about getting the three points. Halifax did, You did now Grimsby need to.

Dont know how we only won that 1 nil, the Shop could have had 4 or 5 himself, and with the toughest chance of the lot managed to smack the bar.
Dont care though we got the win, 11 more 1 nils will do me nicely thanks! :D

Christ, so stressful that.

Braintree were such an organised and awkward outfit, it was no surprise that with our scoring issues we were going to struggle to break them down. Lots of pace on the counter attack too, with Akinola and Mensah causing problems (why didn't Barnet keep the bloke?) and Akinola's goal was fantastic - albeit deflected. Didn't think it would happen with 10 minutes to go, but thankfully Ellis' cool finish sealed it. Last two games have been very tough, great wins in my opinion despite the lack of goals.

As I said before, Barnet are well and truly favourites, with Macc and Grimsby still in the mix of course. Season starts now really.

Big test for Barnet now.

Indeed it is, since they last lost a game Bristol Rovers have made up a ten point deficit on Barnet and are now two points ahead of them, that is some turn around. Mind you, losing four games in the last six isn't ideal if you are trying to remain on top of the pile.

The league is starting to look like a three way challenge for the title and possibly five or six teams chasing the remaining two play-off places.

We've scored 6 goals in 10 games and only won 2 in that time absolutely awful 2015

Reality check tonight! If im honest, I've kinda felt undefeatable recently but tonight and Saturday showed me how poor we are. The defence tonight looked like they might concede every time Braintree came forward! Are all of their players Olympic sprinters or something?! They are probably the most organised, technically skilled and hardworking team I have seen this season. They played some great stuff - I had to applaud some of their movement in the first half - superb.

2nd half we reminded me of England. Dominant with pretty much all of possession in the opposition half but without actually doing anything with it, just passing. Eventually thought their 10 men just couldn't hold on, they were dropping like flies as of the 80th minute with cramp here there and everywhere.

Don't get me wrong, I know they upped their game tonight, but I was really impressed with Braintree. Its all getting interesting now though; we're desperate for Sinclair and Easter to come back. Blissett and Mansell were very poor tonight, but tbh, most of the team were. Thought Leadbitter was my MOTM - he was very good, especially 2nd half.

Onwards and upwards though, tough game Saturday. We need to improve if we want to win against Gateshead.

Fiar play to Braintree. I thought the game was all over after the penalty and red card but they kept on fighting and were the better team the first half even with the 10 men.

The 2nd half was better from us and we created a lot more chances.

On a side note, number 15 for Braintree (Akinola) looked quality. Any chance we can sign him please?

I don't really get the slight gas negativity tonight . We all know we struggle a bit against lower ranked teams but we won to go top in a game which we would have drawn earlier in the season . We will have to up it against Gateshead but there's no reason why we wont especially with Sinclair and Easter on there way back . Overtaking barnet has been a hard fought achievement and I'm happy tonight although I know there's a ways to go yet . Utg
