Well done Wrexham AFC and my club Chester FC. Two proper clubs beating two hobby clubs (and emphatically). Very good day for football.

Fan owned united!

I'm still in shock over our result. Fantastic result for Chester too. Both of us were in indifferent form which makes it even sweeter.

Have Aldershot lost a game this season where they haven't been 'unlucky'?

Rendell still banging in goals as well.

Great result for us. I don't know whether we're going to lose 3-0 or win 3-0 each week. A hat-trick for Gozie Ugwu, who is in superb form. Six goals in his last three games. RICKY MILLER HE'S COMING FOR YOU.

Gateshead couldn't find the way through our defence that has conceded 43 goals in the league. Their defence actually did a good impression of ours and gifted us two goals.

Sounds like they had one of their "shocker" days. How did Sam Jones do?

Wind your neck in, you're meant to be a fucking mod.

Twat.

Never nice to see mod bias. Not one mention of Gozie Ugwu's hat-trick in Woking's 3-0 win over Gateshead today either.

yep i'd include Dover in the mix - looks like the weather helped them today - but whats to say they don't win the re-arranged game
That's exactly what will happen, thanks ref.

Yet another game of two halves on a chilly Wirral evening.

First half it was all Tranmere. Some lovely stuff was getting played, and fittingly it was a slick move down the left with Maynard and Tollitt linking up to put Mangan through for his first. Tollitt was a constant threat to Torquay, and repeatedly had the beating of their full back but unfortunately his crosses rarely found a player in white. All in all, we're it not for poor deliveries and finishing (and an offside decision that I certainly will be looking for in the highlights) we'd have been out of sight. Torquay just weren't at the races.

Second half started similarly, but Torquay had definitely upped their game. However, we were still good value for the second, which came from a clearance by Scott Davies. Defence turned into attack in an instant, and Mangan bagged a second through the goalie's legs. Cue Mellon taking Ridehalgh and Mangan off, which upset the balance a little bit. For the rest of the game we seemed out of sorts, and gifted Torquay a goal with a misjudged chest back to the keeper... Sparkes couldn't miss.

Torquay gained the belief that they'd been missing for the whole game up until that point, and suddenly started crafting chances. It was a far scrappier, but more balanced, match from then on, but both sides were guilty of wasting opportunities. The worst was obviously our penalty miss, which came after a rather heated argument between Cook and Norwood about who would take it. Cook managed to hold onto the ball seemingly against the wishes of the bench, and duly blazed it wide much to Norwood's annoyance. We can't score penalties for toffee... I haven't been counting, but it feels like we've missed 3 or 4 in a row now.

Overall, a deserved win but I was grateful for the final whistle. Fitzpatrick looked tricky for Torquay, but after his hattrick the other day Moore didn't impress me. For a big lad he doesn't win much in the air.

Ref... not bad at all I thought, got most things right bar the one or two usual brainfarts. It seemed like we've got used to criticising refs because they're so often awful, and we got on his back once or twice when I thought he had good unintrusive control of the game.

It was difficult for Rendell to score today since he spent most of the 2nd half at centre back....

Not getting the value for £1000-a-week Rendell then?

We've have a number of refs in this league who seem to be enjoying the limelight of reffing a game in front of a crowd, and give the impression that they're trying to make themselves the centre of attention. This ref wasn't like that at all tbf... his main problem seemed to be calling throws and goal kicks correctly, as I lost count of the number he got wrong.

Absolutely baltic today, my dog's just refused to go out in the fog it's been that bad. Feel for any Torquay fans who bothered making the trip.

Didnt go today then? He is an attacking midfielder/striker who plays for Gateshead, who before today had scored 9 goals in his last 9 games

I think he had a shot at the start of the second half that went out of the ground. Other than that I didn't notice him.

Don't like it up here with these cold northern grounds anymore, I want to go back to the warm embrace of Concord Rangers

I gather by the notable absence of the £GR wankers this evening that they were given a TOTAL FOOTBALL MASTERCLASS today. Or have the admins administered a dose of antibiotics to the forum? :£:£:£:£:£:£:£:£:£:£:£:£

Crazy 5-4 loss today, with the goals being courtesy of shocking defending rather than skill. Braintree set-pieced us to death, and we just couldn't cope.
