I personally don’t mind a bit of it, particularly at Meadow Lane. It’s such a big ground and away support is often so sparse in this league that stuff like that can sometimes help us get a bit more of an atmosphere and edge to games against the smaller teams. Certainly when Andrews did it to put Aldershot in front, and the entire Wealdstone team when they took the lead, it completely backfired because it lifted the noise up a level and got us right on the front foot.

There’s a line, though - Cheek should’ve been booked.
That won't always happen though. Or rather, the crowd reaction won't always translate to an upturn in team performance.
Clamp down on it? Opposition players taking the piss a bit when they score is all part of the game, particularly if you’re playing against a ‘bigger’ club. If you can’t handle it without wanting to twat someone than you shouldn’t be out on your own let alone at a football match.

As Jacob said, it gets the crowd involved and is probably self-defeating anyway.
I don't mind it if the player has been getting shit off the opposition support, that's definitely all part and parcel of the game.

What about the opposition bench doing the same, by the way? Is that fair game? Maybe come back with this comment when you're piss wet through on an open terrace getting hailed on and have thrown away a lead. Like I said refs have a duty to control players that are potentially inciting trouble. Cheek should have been booked on the first one on Tuesday and that would have been that, instead he (Matthew Russell) was weak and allowed it to happen a further two times.

Also with regards to people wanting to twat people, have you never been to a football match or something? Sure, everyone is just going to sit down and politely clap the other team cupping their ears at them.

Get over it, they didn't even leave the pitch. Just payback for your player doing it to kids in the first half and nothing more. It's not like any Bromley players headbutted anyone eh?

Feel like I owe TheEndIsNigh an apology, I've enhanced the sound on the Bromley highlights and it's actually quite refreshing to hear that he was indeed correct:

Ah yes, the benchmark for a fair and civilised society. "It's okay because they didn't headbutt anyone".

To be fair, McAtee looks to kick off the celebrating in front of the opposition’s fans there. Cheek, admittedly, takes things to a new level for the equaliser.
I reckon someone was saying something to McAtee as he was preparing the freekick and he’s given it back. Personally I don’t think his aim was to give it big to the might of Bromley in the corner with no stand but the opposition clearly took great offence to it.

Hahaha.

Being a Notts fan I’ve had more than my fair share of opposition players celebrating in front of me, and I’ve responded with plenty of middle fingers and wanker gestures. Home and away. Stan Collymore in 93 springs to mind.

All fair game in my book, I wouldn’t want either of those outlawed. It seems though that some fans want to the right to dish out stick to players but then whinge about ‘incitement’ when they get a bit back.

Absolutely peak Collymore that too, I bet that was painful seeing someone that good and in his prime for your bitterest rivals.

I'm with you on the dishing out too, I fully subscribe to that. But that's part of my problem with Tuesday because the only person affiliated with Bromley that was getting any abuse off us was a 14 year old kid who we sang "You're just a shit Justin Bieber" at. Fair play to him, he took it well and he undoubtedly left the stadium happier than anyone.

I remember that, had a bandage around his head if I recall as he gave it the big ‘un. Notts just didn’t turn up that day.
