SATURDAY 29TH JANUARY

  • Barnet 15:00 Stockport County
  • Boreham Wood 15:00 King's Lynn Town
  • Bromley 15:00 Notts County
  • Dagenham & Redbridge 15:00 FC Halifax Town
  • Dover Athletic 15:00 Southend United
  • Grimsby Town 15:00 Wealdstone
  • Solihull Moors 15:00 Altrincham
  • Weymouth 15:00 Aldershot Town
  • Woking 15:00 Yeovil Town
  • Wrexham 15:00 Maidenhead United
  • Eastleigh 17:20 Chesterfield

Some interesting games this weekend.

Looks like the Stockport train will continue with a visit to Barnet - can't see anything but a healthy Stockport win there.

Boringwood have Cleeve's vampires at home but again it looks a shoe-in victory for the negative home side, it is truly some feat to be so high up in a table without actually playing any football.

Beleagered Halifax will be hoping they get back winning away at D&R - Daggers have 3 wins in their last 5 but all of those came against relegation fodder and therefore cannot be counted as 'real' wins.

Southend will end Dovers unbelievable winning streak of one game with a dodgy penalty in the 92nd minute - ending all hopes of a play off push on the white cliffs.

Ian Burchnall and his merry band of pensioner supporters go down to South London to visit the charming town of Bromley. I fancy a home win here - Cal Roberts is said to be massively shook up by the James Rowe news, and his head is all over the place.

Elsewhere it looks like routine wins for Grimsby and Wrexham - whilst Aldershot go into Weymouth away full of spirit after their giant killing draw in North Derbyshire on Saturday. Quigley-less Yeovil travel to Woking, the graveyard of a few Brothers so far this season - tough away fixture.

Finally we come to the managerless Derby - Eastleigh vs Chesterfield live on BT. I'm expecting a reaction from the squad in this one, at least 3 players have now been allowed to see their family again by the club after they found out Rowe had them trapped in a bunker under the pitch at the ProAct - big away win for the Spireites.

Outside chance BWOOD could end the day top.

Let's ensure this doesn't happen.

They are top.

All about PPG at this stage of the season. People have made a big deal of us going top, we're still behind Boreham Wood and Chesterfield on PPG.

Yeah its less the you being top that bothers me, its more the PPG since Challinor has come in. You're going to take some stopping. I thought we had a fighting chance until all this internal club BEEF happened. I now feel we might have to accept finishing somewhere in the play offs.

Having said that - with you to play twice still, anything can happen.

Borehamwood grind out results every week and deserve to be where they are despite being non-football boring barstewards.

Think we are P2 L2 on the plastic of Bromley against Andrew ‘Andy’ Woodman’s giants. I’d take a point now to be honest.

'Elsewhere it looks like routine wins for Grimsby and Wrexham...' - uhhh, we're going for the double. Really looking forward to Saturday, it's just a shame I'm driving as I'd have been all over the Docks Brewery in Grimsby if I'd got the train up. For the Mariners lot on here, any chippys and pubs you'd recommend in Cleethorpes?

Jack Cook had to come off on Tuesday night which I'd normally say is a right blow but all being well, we'll have Nik Tavares back to take his place if he's unable to feature on Saturday. The rest of the team picks itself after Tuesday night's performance. Stuart Maynard switched to a back 4 for the first time all season vs. Notts so it will be interesting to see if that remains in place or if he reverts to a back 5.

I see Burchnall is praying for rain otherwise the surface is slow. I live about 15 mins from Bromley and its forecast dry for the next few days.

I think we actually quite like the plastic. Not sure our last game there holds much relevance either, wasn’t it the last game when they needed a win for 7th and we were already in? That said, I would also happily take a point.

2.73 under DC mate

2.82 goals per game, 0.64 conceded

Mind you, we do only play Altrincham every week

Fair play that’s a cracking record under Challinor to be honest:

Stockport 1-1 Altrincham
Dover 1-2 Stockport
Stockport 5-0 Kings Lynn
Altrincham 1-4 Stockport
Torquay 2-1 Stockport
Stockport 5-1 Altrincham
Dover 0-1 Stockport
Altrincham 1-4 Stockport
Stockport 3-0 Lings Lynn
Altrincham 0-2 Stockport
Stockport 3-0 Dover

we would have to be favourites to extend our unbeaten run in 2022, but this would be a typical type of match that historically we would come a cropper in.

Hopefully not this weekend.

Should be another good turnout in numbers...

The most unrealistic thing about that list isn’t that we play Alty five times but that we would play them and not win on one of those occasions.

Yeah the is the Official Matchday thread. Not like that other embarrassment that has been created.

I'd like to think Alan is all Devonshired out by now. Some run of fixtures they've had.

No, harder to estimate this one as there are tickets on the gate for this one. Talk of between 6-700 travelling.

We shpuld be taking more to Woking than the current 350 we've sold as it's traditionally one of our closest and easiest away games to get to, but the current state of the club is putting a lot of fans off. Another couple of players injured after the last game really doesn't help and the Sarll to Eastleigh rumours are interesting. I'd take a point all day long to end our wretched losing run.

Top stuff Super Hans!

I'm actually backing Count Cleeve on this one, but knowing how much he hates Wrexham his side will fail to put up any sort of fight against the league big boys. Not like they would anyway.

Hes gotta go to Borehamwood and get something, and I’ll tell you - honestly, I would love it, love it if they beat them.

Chesterfield could get exposed in this one with all that’s going on there.

Yea agreed nailed on loss for us, surely. Players must be unsettled at the very least.

Surely you can still try Docks for quick one?…
Depends how much time you’ve got. Can’t help you with pubs but chippies yes. If you’re there with hours to spare then a Steels sitdown is best imo, believe they also do takeaway as well. Ernie Becketts is also good. Nearer the ground you’ve got County (which I believe is called Pips now?) and Gr8 White Fish which are both decent. Under no circumstances go in the Mariners chippy next to the ground.

Reports are that Matt Dennis trained OK today. If he comes through tomorrow OK, then should feature on Saturday. Meaning we should have a full squad to chose from apart from our long term injury cases. Good News again for us.
