This makes me fucking sick. 40% percent of Council houses sold over the years are now in the hands of Private Landlords who charge twice the rent that the local housing authorities charge. Council housing has not been replaced, homelessness rising every year and private renters being squeezed for every penny to pay for someone else's pension. Tories and Labour have a lot to answer for but I don't think they'll be to bothered on their comfy pensions and dodgy backhands.

The whole housing situation is pretty shameful to be honest. The way ownership of second properties hasn't been dicouraged through higher taxation over the years has been pretty shocking, under both this government and the previous one.

Housing should be somewhere to live first and an investment second.

Labour are still complicit in it as well so that can't say anything. This really annoyed me today.

The purging of these people will take a while although it’s already started. For years Labour councils have been a cauldron of melty c***. This is what’s been happening in Haringey in opposition to the HDV project. https://www.standard.co.uk/news/pol...ake-control-of-haringey-council-a3706101.html
Just need to keep going...
There’s no point to the Corbyn project if Labour councils are going to back social cleansing.

Home building in London has fallen 20% under Sadiq Khan despite housing being one of his main campaign points. And half of what does get built in London is sold to overseas investors before the development is even completed. And all the drop in building does is inflate prices. He has addressed this by talking a good game, but hasn't as yet put any money where his mouth is.
