Still think it's far from home and dry

Leicester City's last 6 games:

Sunderland(A)
West Ham(H)
Swansea(H)
Man United(A)
Everton(H)
Chelsea(A)

Tottenham remaining fixtures:

Man United (H)
Stoke (A)
West Brom (H)
Chelsea (A)
Southampton (H)
Newcastle (A)

Who you think has the more favourable fixture run-in?

Spurs have the slightly easier run in, I can't see Leicester dropping enough points for it to matter now though.

I can't see Spurs winning anymore than 3 of those remaining games.

You would rather have Tottenham's fixtures but you wouldn't swap a 7 point lead for them.

I think the last 6 games for each one has kind of the same difficulty though Leicester has the harder ones in the last games instead of Spurs. But Tottenham still have to deal with 7 points of distance and to expect Leicester to loose and/or tie most of their remaining games, which sounds to be not that probable but who knows.

West Ham is our toughest fixture out of those for me. Since the Arsenal game opposition teams have been letting us have the ball and asking us to break them down generally, so we've not been playing the quick counter attacking football that got us to the top position. Just in terms of the quality of the sides we've beaten lately Sunderland and Swansea look like we can win them playing the way we are now, those final 3 matches will probably have us going back to a cede possession and break style of play. For West Ham though, it's difficult to tell. They'll likely need 3 points as much as us and it'll probably quite an open game, which could go either way. We're rarely concediing though so maybe our defence will win us some more points.
Of those fixtures, Man Utd are the only side we didn't beat. So we'll be pretty confident.
If we beat Sunderland on Saturday, Spurs have all the pressure on them for Sunday, they may crumble.

I don't see why Leicester should fear any of those games. Realistically they only need to beat Sunderland and Swansea and then one other.

Presumably the omission of Arsenal's run in means the original poster is counting them out, but I'm not sure why.

A vs West Ham
H vs Crystal Palace
H vs West Brom
A vs Sunderland
H vs Norwich
A vs Man City
H vs Villa

They should win 5 of those 7. The away fixtures at West Ham and Man City are obviously tricky, but they certainly have the ability to win those too. Still a three horse race, I reckon.

Even if they do win 5 of those 7, that would mean Leicester only needing 5 points from 6 games to guarantee the title.

Because they're 11 points off the top and in third place?
If Arsenal win at the Boleyn on Saturday, they'll be 1 point behind Spurs (and 8 behind Leicester) having played the same number of games. 6 games left each. If Spurs are still in the race, why not Arsenal? Is one point that significant?

Arsenal might win a few and give themselves a vague hope, but then they'd only realise their chance and shit themselves, losing to Sunderland or Norwich.

It's not but the thinking is more that Spurs need 1 team to slip up, Arsenal need 2 to drop the points.

Our GD is shit compared to Spurs' as well. Dunno about Leicester, and I have not the inclination to check.

Arsenal's home games are very favourable, can't say the same for the away ones.

Awful lot of ground to make up. Straw-grasping.

Lets say they win. As long as Spurs get at least the same results (they'll probably get better) as Arsenal, they stay ahead. If Leicester go 4-1-2 and Arsenal go 7-0-0, Leicester still wins.

We won't catch Leicester, but we will overtake Spurs. I've never been more confident.

Arsenal will finish strongly, giving the fans plenty of promise for next season. That's how it works.

That's a pretty pessimistic prediction of Leicester's results when there's no reason to suggest that they'll double the number of league matches they've lost all season in the last 6 matches, having really solidified into a formidable team unit. Of course, they could lose at Chelsea having already secured the title.

They've changed the way they play a little recently, looking more for 1-0s than anything else, and I think West Ham are good enough away from home to take 3pts off them and United are very good at home.

Any other team than Leicester and you'd call it a day, really. More points than games left usually means it's over. Somehow not sure though, but Tottenham have to go 7-0-0 to stand a chance.

It'll be the biggest upset in sports history if Leicester win it. Spent months trying to think of anything that comes close, but no. Bigger than anything else, by a margin too.

Had the rest of the top 5 been like this...

  1. Leicester
  2. Chelsea
  3. Arsenal
  4. Man City
  5. Man Utd
Then I would agree. The league has been piss poor this season, and the most consistent side have won it. Great achievement, but not as great as people make out. Brian Clough's Notts Forest double European win easily bigger.

Nearly every team at the moment are bending over for Leicester, and refs seem to be caught up in the fairytale, not giving 2 pens for Southampton yesterday for example. I may sound salty, and I am a little. Our best chance at winning the title in a decade with Man City, Chelsea and Man Utd all stuttering, and Leicester beat us to the punch.

It sort of feels like Leicester are Happy Gilmore, and the rest of the big teams are Shooter Mcgavins.

I think you're ignoring two facts here. Nottingham Forest had to negotiate 9 matches to win a European Cup and of course they were representing one of the strongest leagues in Europe. Also, the financial disparity between clubs in the top division was far far smaller than it is today (although there has been a recent levelling up).

This.

I leave it up to anyone to come up with an example that comes close to what Leicester are on the brink of achieving. The presumed gap between them and the perennial title contenders was much, much greater than that which Nottingham Forest overcame, not to mention that it's not a single upset such as the miracle on ice or similar feats - it's been done over a full season.

Nothing comes close.

Edit: For perspective; most remembered upsets were previously considered extremely unlikely. But had you asked for Leicester's chances of winning the league in august, you wouldn't have called it extremely unlikely. You would have called it literally impossible.

Yes, and currently this is one of the weakest top level leagues in Europe, evidence of which is being displayed in the Champions League and Europea League each season. Had Leicester won the league on a year where teams turn up, then fair play. But beating a game on rookie mode doesn't deserve as much praise as beating it on Hard mode.

That doesn't even make sense.

Surely an upset has to be measured in how unlikely it was to happen beforehand? As for "beating a game on rookie mode":
