It's come to the attention of both myself and TB in the last couple of weeks that a few potentially racist comments are being posted on the site. Some in the shoutbox and some in general threads. Whether or not myself and TB agree or don't agree with it, whether we find it offensive, or whether it's a completely innocent joke - it wont be to some people.

Whilst myself and TB aren't libel for any comments posted on this website, it's not exactly an image I want associating with our website and from this moment forward, anyone who posts any racist words, comments, innuendo or seemingly innocent jokes will receive 1 warning - should that same person repeat the offence at any point after...their account will be immediately deleted.

*(This applies whether you are a newbie, or post 40 times a day)*

Secondly - use of the 'C' word. I use it everyday, quite frequently. However, believe it or not, some people do find that kind of language offensive. We have received a couple of complaints recently from those who don't use the shoutbox and certain threads. TB is in the process of coding an 'ignore' button so people can turn the shoutbox off. However, in the meantime can people please tone it down a little. The C isn't needed in every single sentence and it most certainly isn't needed more than once in a sentence.

Sorry to come across as forum police, but I don't think I'm asking much to curb any racism (serious or joke)...generally speaking it's a bit of a free for all in here, which is what we want and what makes us different to most other forums on the net...but please draw a line at times and don't take advantage of that.

Cheers.

I've never said anything racist so that won't be a problem. I can see myself struggling with not being able to say c*** very often though.

It's not a case of not saying it often... it's when every single post/comment has the C word in constantly and occasionally twice in 1 sentence. Personally, I don't care much for it, neither does TB - some people do however and it's only fair that it's mentioned.

I'm glad my complaints have been taken seriously but Saddlerrad what I meant was: can we just get rid of the Vale fans. Sorry for the confusion, my fault.

How about putting in a swear filter? For example, whenever anybody types the C word it automatically changes to, mmm I don't know...SERNWA?

Pleased to see you setting the stall out on racism on the forum lads and delighted that you're not totally banning the C word. Only a c*** would do that.

I'm ok with it changing it to SERNWA, so long as it automatically changes it when the post is submitted. SERNWA has two more letters than c*** and I'd consider that to be taking liberties expecting me to expend more effort on a post than necessary.

I have fond memories of TFF days when swearing was plainly not allowed. Then they started to let fuck go free and the place just went downhill from here.

I don't use the c word. It must be a British thing. It's a horrible word and I don't see why people can't stop using it.

I'd say an optional swear filter would be good to be honest, I'm sure a site used to have one (maybe even TFF??), just wondering whether that would be an option? People who don't mind the swearing can see it all, if they do, then it can be blocked out. Would that be an option at all?

I am all for the ban on racism though.

Could we do it like the Craig Ferguson Show where a flag comes up with something like Aye Carrumba?

Introducing an optional swear filter which can be toggled on/off per member is a possibility. Let me look into this tomorrow and see what I can do.

Just because that's introduced though won't stop me permanently banning any user who goes down the race route.

Another bump?

I've just been called a C-bomb in the "Things we Hate" thread and it's just not cricket.
