SCREENSHOT THIS THREAD BECAUSE ADMINS WILL DELETE IT
Hi all.
After the week we've had, it saddens me to shed light on more admin mismanagement.
Ian has had his account placed on the 'discourage user' feature without warning.
This feature "subjects users to random errors, delays, and pages, simulating failures in the system behavior, with the ultimate aim of making them eventually leave the site." (Xenforo, the forum designer, explains on their website https://xenforo.com/help/discouraging-banning/)
The feature, in effect, tries to trick the user into thinking the website isn't working properly until they give up on trying to access it. It's basically a coward's way of banning someone. It's a stealth ban wherein the admins can (and almost certainly will) deny they have banned him.
This has been tested independently (logging into Ian's account and then into one's own to test speed etc) and has subsequently verified by an anonymous source 'in the know'.
Ian is a gadfly, and he may be a nuisance to the admins, but he is well-loved on here (cc Libertadores FC) and he would be missed. He has also been a loyal member of the TFF/1FF community for many years and is owed better treatment than this.
Just thought the users should know.
Disturbingly,
