Calling Accy fans.
Our season finished last week and I was thinking of coming up and cheering you guys over the line. Just wondered if the game is pay at the gate. Not worth making the journey if it isn't. Would also like to see how Sean McConville is doing as he wasn't really appreciated at Chester last season.

Good luck in any case.

Too late I'm afraid - it's sold out, so would be a wasted journey. Also, there's no pay on the gate anymore - but usually you can buy tickets from a booth outside the ground just before the game - just not when we are on the verge of promotion :)

Sean has had a good season in my opinion - scored a few, solid performance most games, not spectacular. However, due to manner in which he left last time he was at the club, a lot of Stanley fans have a bit of a chip on their shoulder, and probably over critical of his performances. He could do with working on his shooting over summer.

Thanks for replying so promptly ASFC. Sean scored 11 league goals for us last season from midfield, but played alongside John Rooney. They were too similar in style and neither really had a physical side to their game. We won 8 away games last season and he scored in a lot of them, including 2 peaches at Braintree and a spectacular winner at Lincoln. What will a sell out look like? I hope you win tomorrow as the play-offs are hard.

Would love Accy up just the novelty factor. Quite a few Bury fans attending this game according to our forum. It would be interesting to see if they gained any new support next season too. I know they have the 2nd lowest average in the league but it's 7% up from last season which is a decent percentage. Plus with the ground improvements it all looks good for them.

Good luck Accrington, a fantastic story that has gone under the radar because of Leicester's success.

I actually think Stevenage are also a lovely story. They might not get the press and the plaudits of Stanley but they're every bit as deserving of three points on the final day of the season. Please.

Bloody hell Accrington what a bad day to lose your record of scoring in every home game, get it out your system and win the play offs.

I just wish it wasnt against those morons from down the A1 yesterday. I really do DETEST everything about them. To cheer a Bristol Rovers goal just about summed them up!

As if a section of your fans wouldn't have done the same had the roles been reversed. I don't see a problem with it, I think it's fair to say that neither fanbase is particularly fond of the other club (at least going off the forums) so I wouldn't say it's surprising either.

Personally, I wouldn't begrudge you guys promotion via the play-offs, very unfortunate to miss out on the autos on goal difference, so good luck.

Interesting you say you are looking forward to them.

Do you think that your team are going to feel the same after the excellent season you have had already and being in the automation promotion places for three weeks at the end of the season and then failing to score on the last day?

I have to say as a Wimbledon fan that its the perfect scenario for us to be playing you in this situation. We are going to have to play excellent in both legs to qualify for the final but it has given me a little bit of hope.

Really looking forward to going back to your ground. Been many times and always nice and friendly (could be different this time) and has the best pie and chips in the Crown pub.

I genuinely enjoy playing the Wombles. Proper club with Proper fans and one of my favourite away days, would happily have you promoted any other year....... Just not this one obviously ;)

You're right Stuart its a big ask although Coleman is a very good motivator - after what happened last Saturday I don't think any Stanley fans dare predict anything...
Anyway I picked my ticket up today for the away leg and booked on the supporters coach.
Also the pie and chips is now part of my pre-match routine :)

Do you know how many you have sold for the 1st leg and also I hear that the home leg is nearly sold out for home fans?

Wasn't it against Wimbledon that 'that goal' happened? I'm not sure that ref should ever step foot near Accrington again if you don't go up!

You are correct PG.

I believe Trevor Kettle has now retired from refereeing as at the end of this season.

It was a tight game and we hit the crossbar late on and they had their goalkeeper sent of with minutes to go for taking out Lyle Taylor when clean through on goal.

We have a good record this season against them with a 4-3 win up there after being 3-1 down and a goalless draw at home.

If anything, I think Accy will come flying out the blocks personally after last weekend. They have a point to prove

Possibly but they looked pretty flat on Saturday and I don't think it is just as easy as turning on the tap when you want to.

If we were to face Bristol Rovers on Saturday it would of been different as you sort of knew it was more than likely that you would of been playing in the playoffs if you didn't win, however Accrington had the automatic place and had not failed to score at home all season.

Typically these things go 50/50 so I think we're both correct tbh.

Whilst I agree with your point, it can easily be turned as a way to motivate them even more. Same as if I make a point, you can use that as de-motivation. They may have looked flat on Saturday, but over 46 games they weren't and lets be honest, I doubt there were going to be celebrating at the final whistle..

Lets see, it will be an interesting contest.

Accrington did exactly the same to Bury last day of season in 2008/09. We needed a win and Exeter to draw or lose... Que the '1-0 to the Exeter' from the away end. Double standards.

When we came up from the Conference 2 years ago, we lost our final 3 league games without scoring a goal and then lost the 1st leg without scoring too. Meltdown on our message board but the point is that form beforehand sometimes has little bearing on how you play in the play offs. But we were the highest placed team and last season this was pretty key to getting promoted through the play offs (League 2 final was the only tie won by the higher ranked side across all the 4 nationwide play offs and that was on penalties).

So Accrington have a great chance of getting up. I still have them as favourites.

I like Accrington having the favourite tag and to be totally fair so they should be favourites after the season they have had, however, can they live up to favourites tag as I am sure they, like Wimbledon, are used to being to underdog.

Interesting what you say about your form going into that playoff Laker - Who did you play in the Semi Final to recover from losing the first leg?

We lost to Halifax away 1-0. Lee Gregory scored a penalty a few minutes from time. We won the second leg 2-0.

Out of the 4 sides who entered the play offs that season, the form table was probably as follows:

Gateshead (finished 3rd)
Halifax (5th)
Grimsby (4th)
Cambridge (2nd)

We beat Gateshead 2-1 in the final.

Wonder if the home tickets will all sell out?

Think Saturday was the first time ever - can't see this one beating it though as they've given us about 1,500 tickets apparently, which is more than we'll need

Think it might.

FYI, last Stanley game I did was about 3 or 4 years ago. By coincidence it was a 4-0 win against AFC Wimbledon.

You say that but we must of had a good number of enquiries or interest to the club for them to take so many tickets.

It also might be down to segregation issues so we got more than we need. Will be interesting to see if the club give us an update on ticket sales. Apparently the seats are already sold out.
