As predictable as night follows day. Time will tell on how correct that decision was. No overriding opinions other than a slightly child -like feeling that getting promoted with a Blade as boss and top scorer would be great...if it happened.

He'll get Sheffield United promoted, no question about it.

Suspect he'll take you to the Prem eventually.
He did a real good job of stagnating Oxford. Their fans couldn't wait to get rid.

Stayed there too long, got them promoted from the conference, left them when they were in the top 6. Behind the scenes falling out had an affect I think.

Can only speak of his time with us, took over when we were doomed to relegation to the conference, saved us. 2 years later we've smashed the league. His style of football for us has been great, attractive to watch when we've earned the right to play - equally can mix it and grind out results against better footballing teams. With Wilder, he is the one manager I can remember at Cobblers that has always talked sense.

Good appointment you would have thought, and with the squad they have they should be strong next year. But then I've said that for the last three or four years...

Risky move for Wilder, big expectations with crap players, can't blame him for moving and I think he'll do well.

Well, that supposed ITK Sheff U fan was on the money. Not surprising to see Adkins canned, to see so many "smaller" teams finish above them must have stung, not to mention seeing Sheff Wed reach the Championship play offs and Barnsley finish in the L1 play offs. He seems like an affable enough guy, but you do have to wonder where he goes next. Probably to a smaller club where there is less expectation on him.

Also surprised to see Wilder go there. We frequently see fans take over as managers and not do that well. Sheff U saw that with Micky Adams first hand. Massive pressure and expectation on Wilder now, anything less than the autos in a weak L1 would look like failure at this point. Be interested to see how he reshapes the Sheff U squad.

This is good news for neutrals because it closes down all links in a stagnant and tedious OUFC/NTFC conversation. I can't wait.

My take on Wilder was that he did a good but not perfect job for us. He learnt from a lot of his mistakes when at Northampton, including the final one - overstaying his welcome.

Sheff Utd seems like his dream job and I don't understand why there would be any confusion on the match. You have to back yourself to take on your own club. WIlder has always done a good job on recruitment and I have no doubt he'll be able to sell the club to some good players in the summer. I'd fancy him to get promotion within two years. After that, I'm not so sure.

As someone else said, I think some of the hopes for a new NTFC manager are a bit ambitious. What do I know though. One thing I'm genuinely curious to know - what happens to Kelvin Thomas? Wasn't he going into the club to be alongside CW?

Old Kelvin is still here and on the hunt for a new boss for us. Think he's really enjoyed his time with us and will certainly not be looking to leave.

Interview with Wilder on local radio, how can anyone be annoyed he's gone?! Top man.

"For always and forever, any time Northampton is mentioned to me, I'll look back and have a smile on my face. Special time in my life and my career."

Saying some lovely things about the fans as well (Oxford and us). Go on Chris, get the Blades up me old duck.

Pretty much this. So much so that when we beat Northampton away last season we were chanting 'Chris Wilder, we're passing the ball' - the last 2 seasons of Wilder was basically lump it long to James Constable. I love them both for some of the good times they gave but looking back now, neither provided anything close to what the current crop has given Oxford fans.

I hope Wilder does well with the Blades though, back to his former club, dream job etc. Hope the fairytale comes good :)
