I am obviously missing something because I don't understand, I'll bow out and wish K's all the best with their future

My take on the mater is....
It's always been the stated aim of AFC Wimbledon to return to Merton, the spiritual home of the old Wimbledon FC. Surely Kingstonian knew the day would come, they've had 13 years to prepare for this. Why leave everything to the last minute?
What have they been doing for the last 13 years, in preparation for this day?
That was my thoughts, why sit on your hands enjoying what Wimbledon have done to the ground, then after 13 years go crying to mummy that you have been hard done by.
That said when I am in the UK in 2017 if Wimbledon are not at home I may go to a K's game, just to put a $ in their till. (I know wrong symbol but cant do pound one on my keyboard)

Ks fans I've seen on social media and at the ground have always been pretty annoyed with what Wimbledon have done to the ground rather than "enjoyed it". And what do you expect Ks fans to do? Raise millions of pounds to purchase a huge plot of land in London? No chance.

If Wimbledon were a well supported club they'd never have moved to MK. However, I would not blame Wimbledon fans for the move or say they "sat on their hands" when the club first moved to Palace, away from Plough Lane. That'd be unfair - though it's certainly an argument you'll hear MK Dons fans make.

Mnb089mnb can I ask what you actually expect Wimbledon to do?

Stay in Kingston? ... How long? Indefinitely? We have said from the beginning our aim is to move back to Merton, and the Ks have known this from the beginning. Also I fear that however long we stay in Kingston, allowing them to play rent free, they will never be in a position to buy back KM.

Do you expect us not to sell the ground to Chelsea? If there were any other buyers I am 100% certain we would not be selling it to Chelski. Plus no one really understands why the Ks board has come out and said that they don't want to play at Kingsmeadow anymore. No one even knows if they have asked Chelsea. If they have asked Chelsea, and they have said no, then take it up with Abramovich, not us! 2 first teams have played at KM for 13 years now, plus occasional youth matches, from both clubs. So there is room for the Ks at KM!

Finally do you expect us to bring the Ks with us? I would be more then happy to let the Ks play at NPL, so would thousands of other dons, guess who wouldn't want to?

I'm delighted that we're heading back to Plough Lane.

I'm not sure either what AFCW can do to help Ks in this situation other than giving them a healthy contribution towards helping them find a new home.

But it doesn't stop me recognising that we are a primary cause of their problem here, and I feel pretty bad about it.

To have some sympathy for Ks plight and to understand why Ks fans might be pissed off. Simple as that, really. To understand that buying a football ground that a non-league club was playing in and then selling it to Chelsea perhaps looks a little bad. And to not blame the Kingstonian fans for the situation they find themselves in.

And in fairness, I think that's the majority of Wimbledon fans from what I've heard/seen.

Not sure it's worth going over old ground, but if Wimbledon were selling out Selhurst Park at the time, it would have made the argument for moving to MK far less convincing. The poor attendances were certainly something mentioned in the FA report.

Forget selhurst and our 12000 averages attendances in the prem. The seeds of our move were sown well before that. Attendances were onyl used as an easy excuse for a deal to go through. Yes it is very complex and too much old ground to go over.

In fact just before our relegation and subsequent move we averaged around 18000 for two seasons in a row. Many won't believe it but we were a membership and home crowd of us to 12000 at times.

When we brought Kingsmeadow we were a non-league club. As has been said maybe Chelsea are the only ones who want to buy the ground.
I too would like to know if K's have approached Chelsea with a view to staying, that in my opinion would be the best for all 3 clubs involved, and if they stayed on, Wimbledon still give them the promised handout.

Our board either:

A) have had the talk, got shot down & didn't tell anybody.

or

B) don't want to have the talk despite the majority of fans being of the persuasion that they should at least try & won't tell us why they don't want too.

We were told that Chelsea don't want you there which is a bloody shame.

Our board/CEO might keep things from us if they deem it necessary, but they don't lie.

They can be a little economic with the truth at times.
We're still waiting for a full explanation of the embarrassing events from last weekend.

Bastard! It's a political decision because he doesn't want to upset Conservative Wandsworth across the borough boundary.

Yes, Boris is very happy about London being spoiled with hundreds of ugly tall buildings isn't he? So why would he call in a proposal for a smallish sports stadium?

Don't worry, you can come share Garrison Lane with us once it's built if you're still waiting for New Plough Lane.

Chessington is as much Wimbledon as Kingston is anyway :)

Exactly. He has gone against the unanimous decision of the Merton planning application, and also that of the GLA. And this is the first time he has ever 'called in' an application after it has been approved.
It all smacks of politics. I have a commonly used phrase when it comes to politicians......

SHOWER OF BASTARDS THAT BELONG IN A BUCKET OF c***. I have no reason not to use that analogy on this occasion.

Hope it goes better than when our approved stadium was called in by Home Secretary in 2001.

As most of you are aware Boris Johnson decided to call in our plans for a new stadium, despite a unanimous decision by Merton Council and also going against the decision of his own body the GLA.
Therfore can I urge you all to click on the following link and send a message to the 2 main mayoral candidates, Sadiq Khan and Zac Goldsmith. You only need to fill out your details of support once and it will be sent to both candidates.
