Just below yours. Half a billion quid overall went to agents last season. Just mind blowing.

All that woe is me from Reading fans all season and yet they've spent nearly £400k on agent fees alone.

They can fuck off with their crying.

Seen a lot of comments like this on this forum, not sure where all of the sour grapes has come from. Clearly someone who has no idea on our situation, or on agent fees.

A more simple explanation on Agent Fees:

Most of our agent fees will likely come from our Player Sales. We have made over £4m from transfer fees in the last year, so it shows the state of football that despite selling off our only remaining assets to generate some cash we could lose so much of that money from just agents alone

When you have the squad turnover that Reading have had (only 6 first-team players around from last season) there will be lots of agent interactions

Reading have been (and may still be) limited in spending on agent fee spending by the EFL. Last season without either of the above two factors our spending on agent fees (whilst in the Championship) was lower than the average for League One, and less than clubs in League Two

Now Wrexham, Stockport and likely Mansfield, are up, the latter two sit lower mid-table but Wrexham, as you'd expect look like they've been having the piss taken out of them.

As an aside, did anyone else see York in the NL paying out £128k?! And FGR £266k!

I guess the problem Wrexham have is everyone knows they have money and to convince players and their agents to drop down to a level they're better than is going to cost. Summer is going to be interesting for them

I think this is right. We've missed out on targets where Agents have clearly pushed to get their fees higher. Luke Armstrong being the classic - and because of the horse trading to inflate his fee his move to us fell apart and in the end all parties ended up with less money and he moved to Carlisle.

You could probably buy FGR for £266k

Actually he came to us instead because he wanted to play for a bigger and better team at a higher level.

This indicates that of the fees paid, 3 were for players out and 20 were for new signings or new contracts.

23 separate transactions in a year with agents is a lot, no? Unfortunately in football you cannot avoid them. Imagine if you averaged out to an agent fee per transaction we wouldn’t be far from average.

I know for incomings last season we were limited to around half the market average for agent fees. Given we are still in embargo I wouldn’t be surprised if EFL still have same restrictions. But outgoings would not be held to the same standards..

And one of the players out was Puscas who went for £2.5m with us trying to push him out for two years. I imagine his agent probably charged a bit to help generate interest and find a club that would be willing to sign him. I don’t know enough about how much could be charged, but I wouldn’t be surprised if this one transfer made up most of our fees.
