Looks like he is the latest man to have a short secondment (6-9 months) as part of the City Ground work experience programme for out of work managers.

In all seriousness, not entirely sure what to make of this. Obviously did well at Boro until they struggled in the Prem, but a lot of comments about his behaviour towards the end of his time there. I imagine he has been promised £££ to take the role, which is a positive.

Less concerned by those who slate his style of football. It was effective and that's all we should really care about. That Boro team was never boring to watch, they were just a bit more industrial than others.

Good appointment but we say this every time with clubs who change managers so often (mine included). If he get's time and money he'll do alright.

What happened to you lot prefering good football and finishing mid table Marky boy... :animatedf:

Yeh agree. Good appointment. He'll do a job and seems to get what he needs form players, on the whole. He should last longer than the yogurt in your fridge.

Will do really well at Forest I think. Glad he's got a good job with a proper club. I imagine he's been promised £££ to spend though. Wasn't aware you lot had money to spend. Although he is defensively minded I wouldn't say it's boring to watch as such. We had some great times under him. Obviously it was frustrating when we went away to a big team and put all our players behind the ball and had no shots on goal but that was just the big clubs mainly. He will sort your defence out. when he first joined us we were conceding goals all over the place and within a few games we were getting clean sheets. His attitude is questionable though. Very prone to spitting his dummy out if someone disagrees with him though and that was my biggest problem with him.

They have a bit of money from Assombalonga deal and new owner don't they. I think he will do well too.

He'll do well if they give him the time, Forest will probably sack him in May.

I thought they were pretty dull. Can anyone remember any of their games in the Prem last season without googling? Very forgettable side.

Stuani scored a couple of bangers at Sunderland away on the opening day(?)... maybe their first away game.

Good appointment on paper, but think in reality it's another panicky bit of short term thinking. Warburton was doing okay, nothing spectacular but comfortable mid table pushing the top half playing good football, steady progress. When you came to ours it was clear you didn't have the defenders to play the passing out from the back football the way he likes, but it takes time to fully shape a squad in your own image. Except after a few bad results you've sacked him for a man who plays a completely different style in Karanka. I have no doubt he'll immediately improve your defensive record, but he'll probably be gone this time next year because you don't score enough goals. At some point you need to have the balls to stick to one strategy for more than 6 months.

Yes I remember that tbf. Only other one is the 2-2 draw with City, but that was after Karanka had gone.

Less concerned by those who slate his style of football. It was effective and that's all we should really care about.

Can save yourself a fair bit of money by just checking results on the BBC if that's true

I don't really know what Warburton was doing wrong. Obviously the owners of Forest see a playoff top six as a minimal condition just now, so I'm assuming Karanka knows this.

Too early to say he’s turned the dial, but there was a clear change in how we played yesterday. Organised, resolute and showed a bit of nous. Was very impressed with how we set up and basically outplayed the best side in this division. One of the best away performances for years from us.

As I say far too early to get excited but that result wouldn’t have happened in a month of Sunday’s under Warburton. Nice to see us set up to combat the other side rather than continue to flog a system that sometimes works and often didn’t.

You posted this after the Wolves game I'm assuming ?

Rangers fans say/said the same thing re Warburton .. Amazing result for Forest.

Rowett is also the type of manager you describe.. ..
