We'll probably have another poor season, but still end up finishing above your shower of shite - along with most of the league.
A shower of shite you only picked 1 point up against? Hahahahaaha

Blank slate for Stubbs, only our very best players have stayed, money to spend. Mid table mediocrity beckons and a season of struggle for the yokels competing with Burton all season.

Deary me, both teams don't even know what their squads will be come August.

Why not engage then instead of boring us all to death, you'd think a moderator would have more sense. :hypo:

Congrats, you may have just started another bitter argument that'll result into more boring shite.

It's great prodding SERNWA into saying things that end up making him look daft again. Far more entertaining than a forum with no activity such is the lack of Championship football for the next few months.

Dafftest thing I've read this morning is that we were a shower of shite last season yet the great Bristol City couldn't beat us and only took a point from us.

'Dafftest' :D

Yeah, we were both poor for most of the season, getting in Warnock & Johnson respectively saved our seasons - whilst MK stuck with KR. That's why we'll be playing Championship football and they'll be in L1.

Rotherham should have kept Warnock.....think Stubbs will struggle.

The only reason Rotherham have appointed him is because of a David Gray header from a corner, that's it, if the ref blew for the foul on Tavernier he'd be regarded as a failure at hibs.

It was between him and Redfearn when Redfearn got appointed.

Next time you post about us, have a fucking clue what you're on about.

After moving to Edinburgh I've been to 6 Hibs games since January as a relative neutral and wasn't overly impressed by Stubbs. For the resources he has the results weren't great and the football was pretty but ineffectual.

Hibs had players like John McGinn and Anthony Stokes playing against part time sides and didn't win any games against the bottom 3 sides.

What may help is that Hibs looked good when playing against higher division sides, as their cup records show, and so being at one of the smaller clubs will likely suit his style more than having to control the game.

Still, I think Hibs have got the better deal - getting money for him while his stock is high after the cup win and will likely replace him with someone who'll improve the league record. It may be a good appointment for Rotherham but going with someone who's just done well in a cup is a risky move. He's yet to prove himself week in week out, despite being at a club with massive resources.

Regarding players, John McGinn (already a full Scotland International) and Liam Henderson (a Celtic player who was on loan, but they have 13 midfielders ahead of him) are the only two I would back to make the step up. I wouldn't touch Jason Cummings with a barge pole - he needs about 6 chances to score a goal so playing at a higher level I just can't see him getting enough chances to score many. The rest are decent players at the level they're playing at in Scotland but not good signings for the Championship.

I say this with all respect to Rotherham, but Scottish cup winners to violent relegation battle with Rotherham in a fortnight says a lot about footy North of the border.

I think it says more about the money south of the border that's filtering down. The parachute payments for one relegated club for one season is probably more than the revenue of the whole of Scotland (minus Celtic and Rangers). Hibs can sell out 21 000 people for big games and will be in Europe next year but no team in Scotland will be able to compete with the money in England. If Barcelona are scared then Hibs have no chance.

Quite true. I certainly can see the appeal, and given the choice, would probably choose Rotherham over the 2nd tier of Scotland, but still. It's a sad state of affairs up there.

Shows how deluded your board are then if you wanted Stubbs after he failed getting Hibs up.

With the amount of sources you have I'm surprised you don't have a say on the managers job.

Again like the last post, know what you're on about.

We offered Warnock the job weeks ago and he turned it down.
I don't blame Colin in the slightest for turning you down - it was a miracle he kept you up. Maybe he wanted more money than the chairman was offering?

If I supported Stockport, the last thing I would be doing is coming on a forum telling other teams THEY have a deluded board.

Whatever happens with the Stubbs appointment will play out eventually.
He might fail for any number of reasons but It won't be because you want him to.

The deal with Warnock was all agreed, he was happy with the contract and shook hands on it.

TS rang him and pushed him to come up sign the contract as he wanted to move things along so we could start preparations for the new season.

Mr Warnock then decided that he needed another promotion on his CV and reneged on the deal.
This just a few weeks on from saying a Yorkshire man's handshake was better than any contract BTW.

I will always be grateful to Neil for what he achieved in those 16 games, but I would be lying if I said I won't have a smile of satisfaction if no-one offers him this chance to nail his 8th promotion.

Maybe other Championship teams aren't quite as accommodating as us and are not so willing to employ someone who only works half a week, who knows?

Ok, so here goes:

From an initial viewpoint, this looks a good appointment to me. We have decided to show some ambition, as we have in recent history while climbing the ladder, and gone for someone who has a track record of success. Someone who is used to the pressure of not winning Football games, and someone who would like to progress his career. In short, Stubbs has a reputation to enhance, and wouldn't just see this as 'another job'. In the mould of Gray, Mowbray etc. What's more, I feel a proud man that my Football Club, have progressed to a level where we can not only compete with Clubs like Hibernian, but are overtaking them in the Football World. I would never have thought that as a Schoolchild heading to Millmoor.

On the Football side, this is a very good opportunity for Stubbs. We only have 10 players under contract. Thus meaning he can mould the Squad how he would like. Although I wasn't a Redfearn fan, he came in with the Season already underway, and somebody else's Squad. That must be difficult. And lets be frank, Stubbs is not walking into a Club that has just arrived at this level. We have competed and achieved our objectives in the last two Seasons. We know what is required, and how to go about that. The Chairman has pumped a lot of money in, and nobody sees any reason why that will stop. Stubbs will have the largest budget of a Rotherham United Manager in history. We will give him the tools to do the job.

I believe in all honesty, the league, at the bottom at least, is getting weaker. We saw the standard drop last year, from the year before. Of that in my mind, there is no doubt. There's always one crisis Club. 2 seasons ago Blackpool. Last season Bolton. It looks to be Blackburn Rovers this year. It will also be very difficult for Burton Albion, who will average by far and away the lowest crowds, and have the lowest budget. With Wigan & Barnsley similar sized clubs to ourselves, there are quite a few candidates for the Relegation places. Were missing out Leeds & Forest here who could have disastrous years.

New York is a difficult place to go and win Football Matches. Our Home record has been very good in both our seasons here. If Stubbs can find a way, to pick more points up on the road, there is no reason why a comfortable mid table position cannot be attained. It's been nothing but success for RUFC throughout the last 5 years. There is no other thought in my mind, why that cannot continue. We are a progressive, forward thinking Club. Roll on next season. Its a proud and positive time to be a Miller!!

If you seen the situation we was in before the current board took over to where we are today then then i can tell you they are far from deluded and everything they've promised sinced they took over has been backed up with ease.
