Because a lot of people underestimated Albania. Seriously, look at their results over the last few years. Beat and drew with France over 2 games, beat Portugal, drew with Denmark, narrowly lost to Italy, narrowly lost to Portugal. They aren't a great side, but they clearly aren't a poor one either.
Have to say the lesser teams have thus far been impressive, their organisation in particular. 10 man Albania could've been on level terms had they taken that chance a bit ago.
Very fortunate win for the Swiss, who once again look very underwhelming. Albania lost that game, Switzerland didn't win it. A poor goalkeeper error, a bad mistake by Cana and 2 great chances missed. Oh what could have been for Albania.
Can't wait to see how the French do against this Albania team in a few days time.
Switzerland were pretty poor there, they actually looked better when playing 11v11. Definitely had enough chances to kill the game off but poor finishing and good keeping kept Albania in it and they nearly snatch something at the end. Albania were actually a half decent side, well organised but lack a bit of quality going forward, can definitely see how they've qualified now.
Enjoyed that match more than I thought I would. Credit to Albania, thought it'd become more comfortable for the Swiss after the red card but they kept going for it. Gashi should have buried his chance, too.
No shock to see Sommer continue his excellent form this season, he's had a great 12 months.
