Never ceases to amaze me how little talent kickers across all levels have. The NFL & NBA is an elite demi-god tier of human athletic excellence and then you've got 32 (x2 if we group punters in) fellas running around who could easily be replaced by some journeyman centre-back for Boreham Wood - and it's dead easy for people to say 'if it's that easy then why don't you do it' but the counter-argument is to sit them in front of NFL redzone for a few hours and witness the snafu-fest.
Really good stuff from Mariota here. Some very nice passes and a great play on that run for the TD. Starting to think the Titans may end up winning this sorry division they are in.
Green Bay have been abysmal. I believe they are not healthy on defense but either way some of the special teams play has been a joke and offensively they've looked incredibly predictable.
The NFC North is getting a bit messy. Decent game from the Lions yesterday and have to thank Sam Bradford for being Sam Bradford. Through 5 games I was questioning my labeling of him being the 2nd worst #1 pick from the past 20 years, I'm not anymore. Sure the Vikes O-Line isn't the best, but Bradford makes some very strange decisions, mostly wanting to hold onto the ball for nigh on a full minute, it's like he wants to get sacked/injured.
As for Stafford and the Lions - more 4th quarter and this time OT wonderfulness. Just think where this team would be if they had shown some interest in actually winning the games against the 3 worst teams they have faced (Titans, Bears, Texans). Stafford made the much vaunted Vikings D look utterly ordinary on the final couple of drives, everyone on this team steps up when it comes to crunch time, just wish they would show this level of play a bit earlier in games that they show in the final minute.
Fantastic stat out of this game - Stafford got picked, Vikings took it down to the Lions 18 yard line. With help from penalties and some mind boggling Bradford play they managed to be pushed all the way back to the 40 and punted. The only other time in the past 10 years a team has started a drive in the redzone and ended up punting - 2011 Rams, with guess who as QB.
As for Bish and his kickers - thank god for Prater, man is a machine and his 58 yard tying FG would have been good from the moon it went so easily through. The Vikings for one were looking on enviously.
I was worried at the start of the season when we had 7 WRs on the 53, that while it could suggest strength in depth it actually means there's a lot of players who aren't quite up to it. Nelson's looked 75% of the player he was, which while an improvement isn't going to suddenly make everyone else great - a lot of 5x WR sets but despite that it didn't seem Rodgers had much open at all. Abredderris has gone, Janis is on the bubble after dropping that perfectly thrown 60 yard possible TD pass, Adams anonymous yesterday, Davis is just a return guy at the mo, Cobb injured, Nelson ain't what he used to be, Montgomery doing sterling volume work from RB. Rodgers played fairly well given he's got so little to work with and no RB to help out either.
Maybe James Jones should keep his mobile on. Could see some sweeping changes in the post season.
On defense, Capers is doing a good job this season with what he has and the players he's missing.
Losing at home to the Colts though... not good at all.
Is it safe to say at this point with them losing to an awul Colts team last week and getting completely curb-stomped by the Titans this week that we can start writing the obituaries on Green Bays season? They look a sorry mess, probably to the point someones head should roll for it.
