Because he wanted to go to PSG and he doesn't give a toss about playing for United.
Haha! Might be true, did you give my blog a read? If so then please leave some feedback in the comments or contact section!

Didn't watch the game (Prince Nassem Hamed Sporting Heroes was on the other side) but I take it United did ok today without him?

Who would you drop to get him back in the side? Or does he sit on the bench from now on?

Might be best for all concerned if he goes to PSG for a slight loss/Cavani and we sign Bale. Won't be too upset if he goes or stays.

Been very disappointed with his overall season but noodle man has still managed to rack up 10 assists, second only to Fabregas who's been in a much better and more consistent team. That's the thing with him, even on his bad days he's just a dribble/cross away from changing a game.

I've no doubt he'll stay and kick on next season in a much more tactically settled team, especially now that he won't feel like he has to do saink spectacular everytime he gets on the ball to get United out of a hopeless sideways/backards passing situation. A properly world class talent, just not one you'd base your team around.

Di Maria was always inconsistent, but his end product was never in doubt.

He'll come good next season.

In terms of end product he's not been totally awful this year. He has just lost the ball far too much, almost every time he got it he'd end up getting tackled or spraying the ball to no one.

I think to some extent the pressure of our team not creating chances combined with him being a record transfer fee got to him. Made him feel he had to bail us out every time he got the ball leading to even poorer decision making.

In a functioning team I have no doubt of is quality despite us obviously over paying. It's just a matter of where to get him in the team now as system wise the only position he could take is Young's. With the way he is playing Di Maria will need to wait for an injury.

Still having world class players on your bench isn't a bad problem to have and we'll need everyone to play a bigger role next season with the extra CL games so I reckon it will work itself out. I'd only sell if PSG were willing to give us most out money back.

He was brilliant when he first signed for United, then he got injured, and LVG played him upfront and on the wing, if you stick him in a midfield three he'll be quality, I can't believe United are letting him go after one season.

I don't remember him ever being brilliant for United.

I are disappoint. Thought he'd play in a midfield 3 and do very well. Dude pussied out, all said and done.

Di Maria clearly feels he has more chance of winning trophies at PSG than United. I am a big fan of United's signings this season but it seems like Van Gaal is past it. He thinks he is some kind of genius playing Mata on the wings and Depay behind Rooney. United will be fighting for 4th place next season, and Di Maria knows it.

His very first few games against the likes of QPR and Leicester, he looked an absolute top notch signing. But he quickly faded away and towards the end of the season he looked out of form and not bothered.

Most people who said (including me) that £64 million was a ridiculous price tag for Di Maria at the start of last season have been proved correct.

United made a huge mistake signing him last summer. He'd be a good signing at around 30m, but 60m could buy one of the best players who can win you games single handedly.
I said when he joined that he looked world class only because he was playing with the very best players. Unfortunately, United don't have best players in the world and some people expected him to be one of those.

I think Di Maria was hampered by our laborious and indesive tactics more than anything. He's still a quality player and I'm a bit gutted to lose him.

Sure we overpaid for him (we had to) but the guy is a world class player under the right conditions and would have played a massive part in the team kicking on this season had his heart been in it. Acting like a little bitch missing his flight and that though.

It's frustrating he's leaving, then I recall his performance against West Brom. It was painful to watch.

No wonder Liverpool did so badly last season with team disharmony like that!
