FA Cup weekend init.

Our teams and their corresponding fixtures:

Saturday 10th January 2016

Birmingham v Bournemouth
Brentford v Walsall
Colchester v Charlton
Eastleigh v Bolton
Hartlepool v Derby
Huddersfield v Reading
Hull v Brighton
Ipswich v Portsmouth
Leeds v Rotherham
Middlesbrough v Burnley
Newport v Blackburn
Northampton v MK Dons
Nottm Forest v QPR
Peterborough v Preston
Sheff Wed v Fulham
West Brom v Bristol City
West Ham v Wolves

Sunday 10th January 2016

Cardiff v Shrewsbury Town

Some unbelievably underwhelming ties that I didn't know were taking place. Wolves and Bolton have the two interesting ones for me, finalists from last year Reading have a mouth watering tie against Huddersfield. (Which is no dig at Hudders, more the apathy of drawing a Championship team).

Big fan of the FA cup but not bothered this year. Who wants a run?

Would love a cup run as we don't really have much to play for in the league. West Ham away will be tough and can only see us getting something if they rest some of their better players.

Only ever seen Wolves in one final and that was at the Millennium Stadium in Cardiff, would love to see us play at Wembley one day.

Not a particularly interesting set of ties that for us lot. Only 3 of us have Prem sides, all that we've played recently and don't see any upsets out of those.

Can see Eastleigh doing over Bolton. Potential banana-skins for MK and Blackburn. Got a feeling Portsmouth could provide a bit of a shock at Ipswich as well, McCarthy doesn't tend to take the cups all that seriously does he?

I would happily take a loss to Hartlepool. All about the league for me.

I'm looking forward to my second trip up to the north east in a week.

Haven't been to Pools since they beat us in the 1st round in 1984. I am told it is a much improved place these days.

I'd like to see us progress through a couple of rounds at least. I know promotion is a priority but cup finals only happen once in a lifetime. Besides, we should have a big enough squad to cope with making some changes this weekend and still progress.

Fuck there's me thinking Villa lost the Cup final last season?

Another reason why Semi's shouldn't be at Wembley. Only one I watched of the three played there so that's probably why I've thought that. :animatedf:

Unlucky Reading, no runners up medals for you.

We will probably lose. I'd like to win. If we lose I hope Derby lose too so our match isn't moved to a Tuesday night.

Destined to draw against Leeds, we were always going to play each other as many times as possible.

Good excuse for a big day sesh and last train home to get to Rotherham with best strip this end of Europe and also see our joint best manager of all time, big Steven!!

We're in good form so it's coming at a good time for us. Don't care that it's an underwhelming draw, I really want to progress. I think the cups are massively important for a club like us, lower mid table side where things can get a bit dull at times and funds would be welcome. We haven't had any sort of cup run since promotion.

I always look forward to the FA Cup, probably due to my age. Was always a big deal watching the Cup Final on tv.

2nd time to Hartlepools for me, last time was in 84 and although I was only 9 years old at the time, it's a day that I'll never forget. Running battles in all sides of the ground and was probably the first time I'd seen violence like it.

Different cup but I went to watch Chesterfield vs Wolves years ago and as most of my mates are town fans and I'm not their biggest fan I thought I'd go in the Wolves end with a mate so we could gloat afterwards.
120 minutes and a few shit penalties later Chesterfield had won on probably the wettest day in history, obviously soaking thanks to the lack of a roof at the old Saltergate - Fuck you Wolves and Fuck you Mick McCarthy. You had some shit American and Leon Clark running the show that day, probably the worst decision of my footballing supporting life.

Uh god.. I was hoping I erased that game from memory before you brought it up

Jemal Johnson was the American I think you meant... he made Leon Clarke look half decent. In the space of 2 years after leaving us his clubs ranged from MK Dons, to Locomotiv Sofia, to Tamworth...

Yeah - JJ was a bit of a fans favourite during his time at the Dons.

He was also a bit shit tbh.

Graham Westley has probably already had his own personal medal engraved if Peterborough beat us on Saturday.

Tough game, he's made a very good start there, although he didn't start of too badly with us in truth, the useless c***.

Meh... the constant drawing of away games to teams in the same league gets tiring pretty quickly. This Huddersfield game is the sixth time it has happened in our last eight FA Cup games.

No doubt if we get through we'll draw another one of you lot away.

Our last two trips to St Andrews have been pretty memorable, 4-2 and 8-0 wins. Somehow doubt it'll be quite so much fun this time, seeing as it'll be a reserve game. But meh I'm going anyway.

He doesn't, I'm expecting 7 or 8 changes from our first team. However, Portsmouth are also in a promotion race so they might not want the distraction of a cup run either.

At times I love the cup, being drawn away at grounds you've never/not been to in ages is brilliant, I watch the draw with great anticipation in he hope of an obscure away.

The other times when we get drawn at home to Bournemouth I'm totally indifferent to it, I won't be going, simply can't be arsed, I've saved my beans to go the Derby the following weekend.

Can't wait for our reserves to play at home against Rotherham. How exciting. Hope we win, just because the cup will be our only chance of some enjoyment this season.

Fully expecting us to get beat at Cobblers today.

All the signs are there....

Weakened side, more important game on Tuesday, opposition flying in the league etc.

We can't even field a couple of the decent youngsters as they're cup tied from loans at Oldham and Nuneaton. Bit of an oversight, that.

Anyway, should be a decent day out. Getting ready to leave soon.

Looks like Huddersfield and Reading are pretty much full strength.

Three changes to each team (one of each due to transfers).

Daniel Johnson rested today, Gally and Wright also on the bench, saved for Tuesday. Chris Kirkland making his debut in goal, Robinson starts on the bench.

Kirkland
Vermijl, Clarke, Huntington, Cunningham
Welsh
Browne, Brownhill
Doyle, Garner, Reach

Hudson, Woods, Wright, Kilkenny, Gallagher, Robinson, Hugill

Happy with that line-up.

1 down already, Kirkland sounds like he's had an awful start to the game.
