The EFL have really screwed us over here by setting us a 12 hour round trip 2 days before Xmas (yes, I know Plymouth have to deal with this every away game...).

Despite Argyle's league position, I don't think any away game in this league is easy. That being said, I'm hopeful of victory.

Placide

Dummigan - Gerrard - Bryan - Hunt

Fane

McLaughlin - Gardner - Byrne - Nepumaceno

Doyle
Argyle 1-3 Latics (Doyle, Byrne & Nepumaceno)

307 'tics (ambitious perhaps)

Yeah it's shocking we've got a game in Blackpool on 30th December then home match on 1st January. Absolutely ridiculous. 650 odd mile trip leaving less than a days preparation for a match (which would usually be a light morning or rest day anyway i'd imagine). And that 'day' is New Years Eve.

Big game for us this weekend. I still think we'll scrap our way out of the bottom 4 despite the negative tactics. If you take out the 6 games we received red cards (5 of which in the first quarter of the season), we actually average out to 12th or 13th place. That and hopefully a stable consistent goalkeeper as opposed to the 7 we've been forced to use means we should do better post Xmas period.

Heart says 1-0 head says 1-2 this week. Oldham seem capable of finding the net.

I note in the Daily Torygraph that Argyle fans will travel more and pay more than any other in the four divisions over Xmas. I also note that the EFL did not give Argyle a home game for the first nor the last game of the season -both of which traditionally attract larger than average crowds.

So I wish you a safe and pleasant journey down to the tropical South Hurrikeen, but I think there are others screwed more by the EFL than yourselves.

As to the game, doubt we'll score many, but maybe nick it by one as we are getting the points in, even if our football is a bit dour. Oh, please don't injure our keeper, we're kind of running out of them at the moment!

PS there is nowhere decent to get any last minute crimble shopping, unless your other half loves pasties.

Hurrikeen, is it true that your team are flying down on the Saturday? If true, bit risky isn't it, lot of fog around at present?

Tomorrow I think. Some reports saying Saturday are wrong apparently.

Cheers Simpo for clearing that up, really surprised me they might come down on Saturday, especially as you can no longer fly into Plymouth - last plane that did was impounded I think :cool1:

Be interesting to see whether he opts for 1 or 2 u top.
You coming down? I know Adams will opt for one for us, two up front gives him a nose bleed.

Pretty meh day down here, fairly warm but damp and drizzly. And despite that they will still soak the pitch before the game, so have your long screws on.

What a lovely day it is, watching Big Bash on TV now and then off to the theatre of greens later.

No I’m not I’m afraid. Have got the spare monies to head down there just before Xmas. Pre-season, I was hoping we would play you very early and perhaps catch some rays whilst there, never mind.

All you'd do now is catch some drops, and you are pretty well blessed in that department yourself.

Pleased to see Doyle was not playing. Did Oldham not have a full bench?

That was an enjoyable game. Obviously I liked the result, but both teams played good football, and I can see why Oldham have been getting the goals in. Oldham had plenty of opportunities, especially corners, but just not enough quality at the end of the ball. We deserved our goals, first time this year I have seen us clinical. Jervis's was great, on the pitch fifteen seconds and scores with first touch. Nice to see the lad Sangster get a go at the end.

MR D.Odgy between the sticks was the worse keeper I have seen for a while. Is he normally that bad?

Your fans were great. Though there were not that many, but they were pretty good in voice. Though when your elf took his clothes off and threw them away I saw more of his backside than I wanted to.

Good game, great result and more confident that we will stay up now.

As a PS I was extremely surprised to see Lameiras start given he was supposed to have played a 'trial' with you a week or so ago. After that MOM performance either he won't be coming to you now or will cost you more money.

COYG?

Don’t know much about the Oldham side to be honest but I think it was clear you missed Doyle, as that Davies bloke is crap. Holloway was better. Byrne very good.

A sickness bug has passed throughout the squad which saw Doyle and Bryan miss out, our first choice LB in Hunt benched, and then only being able to name 6 subs.

That being said, we were defensively atrocious today. Plymouth looked good going forward at every opportunity and if they keep that up they won’t go down. Despite all this, if we were clinical we would have had 4 goals ourselves.

Is Placide usually that dodgy in goal or was this an aberration?
