Wenger has decided whether to stay or go but has decided not to state what it is for the time being. I'm sure the Arsenal fans really appreciate that.

For the first time I think he's off. It will be weird, even for someone my age who can easily remember Arsenal prior to him arriving. Like with Ferguson and United, there must be millions of football fans, Arsenal or otherwise, who only know the club with him in charge. And again like Ferguson, it goes beyond him just being the manager, he has become the entire identity of the club over the years. Which is perhaps part of the problem.

One thing for sure, there needs to be a clean break for the sake of the next manager. None of this moving upstairs bollocks. It simply won't work given the presence he'll continue to have.

Already looking forward to Pochettino's greatest managerial feat yet: somehow managing to get his side to collapse in sufficiently dramatic fashion that they finish below these losers.

That is surely, *surely* not possible this season. To be fair, last season was the best possible send-off to St. Totteringham's Day for a few years. It was hilarious.

I don't know. You're 9 points behind with a game in hand. I wouldn't rule it out even with Arsenal playing shit.

Is it nine?! Jesus. Honestly, I would rule it out. We've got to go to their place as well as host City and United - forget about it. I threw the towel in a few weeks ago. We are pure, rancid shit and there's no other explanation for it. He's finished, and the players know it.

If the Daily Express is to be believed, Wenger will sign a one year deal for next season.

The Daily Express are seldom to be believed and are almost definitely trolling Arsenal fans for clicks.

A large number of journos now reporting he's staying, or at least plans to.

His trolling if Arsenal fans is next level.

I think Wenger would like to stay, but he won't announce until they win a game.

Wenger has proved for decades that he is good enough at the top level. It's this group of players who have shown no evidence of it.

But he bought in every one of Arsenal's current players. Part of a managers remit for proving he has what it takes at the top level is buying players that are good enough (or at least have the potential to be) and then pushing them to show it.

Not only all of the players, but the entire club structure has been built by Wenger. If there is any justification in him staying on for a last year, it's because you couldn't just drop Wenger and parachute a new manager into the top of his structure and expect everything to start working perfectly. The whole thing would need re-jigging and that'll take time, to line the new guy up and make the various back room decisions and appointments necessary.

Presumably the Arsenal board have had a rough plan on ice for a few years now about how to handle this change...?

He hasn't though. He hasn't won a major trophy for over a decade, and his success in the first place (after coming in from Japan) was built in large part on a defence that he inherited. Besides, we all know that it's him that's picking these players in any case.

Reports claiming Arsenal have approached Dortmund in an attempt to recruit their sickly looking manager as a replacement for Wenger. Denied by Arsenal of course.

tuchel is a good manager. turned dortmund around rather quickly after the UTTER MESS klopp left them in and has kept the club competitive after losing 3 of their most important payers over the summer.

never a good idea for a manager to declare "one last year" though imvho and that. the players barely give a fuck now, what'd they be like next season knowing the manager is off at the end of it?

?

second biggest club in germany in a relegation battle for much of the season, lost more than they won, eventually clawing their way back to a miserable 7th position, costing the club a fortune in cl revenue and tarnishing their good name n the process. tuchel then takes over and they lose 4 league games all season, scoring an EYE WATERING 82 goals in 34 games. suggests to me someone made a mess which thomas cleared up in no time at all. if finishing 18 points above 3rd is below average as you say then i dont think a finish of 7th place and 32 fewer points can be viewed as anything other than an UTTER MESS tbqh. you've essentially said so yourself mate.

i may be wrong though. as rare as it is it has happened once or twice in my lifetime.

Christ, you can do better than that GB. One bad season (still finishing top half) under Klopp after 6 great seasons doesn't suddenly make Klopp shit and Tuchel the better manager, nor some sort of miracle worker. Tuchel owes the majority of the quality he has to work with to Klopp.

2014-2015 -- 7th
2013-2014 -- 2nd
2012-2013 -- 2nd
2011-2012 -- Champions
2010-2011 -- Champions
2009-2010 -- 5th
2008-2009 -- 6th
-------------------
Klopp arrives.
-------------------
2007-2008 -- 13th
2006-2007 -- 9th

In short, Dortmund are where they are today thanks primarily to Klopp. You say they're the 2nd biggest club in Germany but before he arrived they hadn't finished in the top 5 for the five previous seasons.

Then again, I suspect you know you're talking shite and it was just a fishing expedition. And I bit. :dis:

Besides, what the fuck has this to do with Arsenal being shit?

better than what mate? i don't believe i said klopp was shit at any point, nor did i state that tuchel is better, or that i think he's a miracle worker. you've simply made that up for whatever reason. i think we call that a straw man argument.

not sure i'd class highlighting what actually happened as talking shite but i can see you're upset so i do understand your over reaction and swift defense of your current manager. he's a likeable bloke afterall.

i'm not sure what it has to do with arsenal being shit. you mentioned tuchel had been linked with the job. i said he's a good manager and gave some (sound) reasoning as to why i feel that way ie. cleaning up the mess left by klopp and improving on the relegation battle of the previous season by a STAGGERING 32 points. apparently yourself and my very close and loyal friend salty took exception to that, i defended my position with facts and here we are. if you dont like me pointing out things that actually happened to support my point after being questioned then i do apologise unreservedly and will refrain from doing so in the future.

thanks for reading mate. hope all is well.

GB dares to speak ill of The Messiah and is immediately lambasted and character assassinated by the forum's LFC mafia. It's absolutely shameful and one of the main reasons I suspect this forum is going down the pan. They're like the Trump administration with their "alternative facts". See how Pagnell tried to insinuate that GB said that "...Klopp shit and Tuchel the better manager".
