Yeah I think the Barca under Pep was better, Messi, Neymar and Suare are better than the front three of Messi, Henry and Eto'o but Iniesta was at his peak, Xavi was at his best, Puyol was a rock and the style of play was better.

Don't think Arsenal will get close to Barca, I think Wenger will obviously play defensive like they did against Bayern and try and get one on the break, I'll go 2-1 Barca.

I think the current iteration of Barcelona is better than Guardiola's, they are certainly a lot more fun to watch. They've added a directness to their game (Neymar and Suarez in particular) on top of the mind-numbing tiki-taka they are capable of. I think they'll be the first team to ever retain the Champions League and comfortably so.

1-3

Arsenal won't cause them any trouble.

2 - 0 for Arsenal.
Oliver Giroud will be man of the match.
Cech will disable Messi

This is England v Spain. This forum need to get behind Arsenal. So well done inetmktvn20.

We've beaten Bayern Munich which are a better team, as opposed to just a good front 3. Lets all hope Chelsea and Arsenal can have a good go at progressing.

You can count on all of our support WC.

Well, Saltire and G-Dragon will probably cheer on Barca.

In other words the sane members of the forum want to see Barca lose.

I'm looking forward to this game, it should be a cracker. I can see Arsenal getting a good result tonight, but over the two legs i think Barca will be too strong, especially with Suarez, Messi and Neymar.

I'm expecting plenty of goals though. Bring it on!!!

On the topic of comparing this Barcelona side to the one in 2011, I'd say this side is on course. Time will tell which side is better. If Barcelona win back to back Champions League's then yeah I'd say this side is better than the 2011 team. There are a few notes I should make.

- Both Barcelona sides battered the South Americans in the Club World Cup. It doesn't sound hard, but the Libertadores' champions rarely get battered by the UCL champions. Barcelona managed to do it twice, and interesting to note it was in 2011 and 2015. The 2 sides we are talking about Being fair, River Plate never had a chance to even withstand a Barca barrage to begin with because of how poorly they were playing. However regardless, both Santos and River had great sides for South American standards in the 21st century.

- Barcelona in 2011 was more midfield oriented while this side focuses more on attack. As many said, the key to the team in 2011 was Iniesta and Xavi. While now, its Neymar, Suarez and Messi. Also the style of play is different, where as Barcelona in 2011 put you to sleep, and today you're thrilled at watching them. Also Puyol was not only a rock, but he was a leader. I'd honestly rate Puyol as one of the top 5 defenders in history. Maybe even top 3, I'm not really sure, but he had a lot to his game as a defender.

- Many say Messi was better in 2011, but I'm not sure. Messi is back to his prime and I'd rate them about equal in 2011 and 2015. Messi was just unbelievable both years and no one could stop him.

Like I said, time will tell who's a better team. Its too soon to debate it in my opinion.

As for tonight, I put a bet on Arsenal to win. Arsenal are capable of beating anyone in their day, because they ARE a good team regardless of what anyone says. I reckon it won't be by much though. 2-1 or 3-2. Something like that.

Arsenal should be a bit fresher than Barcelona, so if the Gunners outwork their visitors they could get a good result here. If Barcelona's stamina doesn't get tested, they'll have a comfortable game.

If Barcelona win back to back Champions League's then yeah I'd say this side is better than the 2011 team.

Same here.

I've had a look at the Barca team sheet, nothing to worry about, 2-0 Arsenal.

What result do Arsenal need to stand a chance of going through, we reckon? Could 2-0 maybe do it?

I'm rooting for Arsenal anyway, fuck Barca, never liked them, forever despise them, I don't need them.

2-0 would be dreamland, I'd be happy with a clean sheet just so we can go to the away game with at least an ounce of hope.

0-0 and you're fucked I reckon. As you are with 1-0. No, you're definitely going to lose in Spain and probably by two, so 2-0 would be the bare minimum I think.

But then again, that's leaving you with a reasonable possibility of going through which definitely equates to dreamland compared to the completely non-existent expectations on your shoulders now.

Shite pullback from Ozil there. Good opportunity to test the keeper.

Arsenal are the better side so far. Sanchez is a bit of a whiny bitch whenever he draws a foul isn't he? Not much in that one from Busquets but wants him booked.

Just once, I'd love a ref that isn't a complete prick. No whistle until he sees a Barca reaction.
