As If Going Down Wasn't Bad Enough

In our first game down there we earned a famous draw at home to Canvey Island. We also got beat at home by pre-Vince Forest Green.

So did we in our first season, they'd lost 9 in a row until we rocked up and allowed them a 1-0 win. We followed that up by beating the famous lewes infront of 300 odd, and we took 175 of them! L

Yeah, we outnumbered several home attendances, including Morecambe. We also had the joy of sharing the Conference with Leigh RMI, whose total attendance for the season didn't amount to our average home attendance (which incidentally was higher them than it is now)

I kind of miss when the Conference was full of proper tinpotters like that, now most of the 'never been in the league' clubs down there and bankrolled rich boys' toys.

Agreed. Ours featured Hyde, who were city's playtoy before they got their training facilities, must have had something 250. We missed out on Leigh though.

We developed quite a cult following to Tamworth, would always take 1000 or so there - it was a great day.

We also lost to Alfreton at home (it's about 4 miles from Mansfield) which wasn't ideal

We did have Weymouth and grays too.

We lost 2-1 at home to Hayes & Yeading in our 2nd home game down there and there was obviously the infamous 5-0 at Braintree the following season. Losing at Chasetown in the FA Trophy was one of many other lowlights down there.

I don't think it was until a few games into that first season when it really sunk in though, stood on the away terrace at Tamworth getting beat.

Enjoy. At least Hartlepool fans will be able to collect a few new grounds next season. I did 17 new ones in our first season down there.

8 away fans OMG.Think I read somewhere Histon never took any fans to Wrexham.
Still not much worse that Accy or Morecambe

A massive plus for Hartlepool fans, and Orient, is that you don't have to compete in the Checkafraud trophy again next year... so every cloud.

And also they don't have to share a forum section with that lovable rogue Impish and his witty banter.

But you have to play in the FA trophy. I won't start on that one again.

The most ridiculous cup full of crap sides you've never heard of.

Still better than playing B teams

Walking in a dog turd in the park is better than than idea, whereas we might not always agree this I totally do.

Anything that even has a scent of b teams happening again should be vehemently opposed on every level, it could threaten the existence of all clubs down here.

Didn't your right back get 3 that day? I walked out at 5 and said I was never going to go back. Been to Grimsby 4 times for football now, we've lost 7-2, 4-1 and 3-0 and then once got a 0-0 draw which was an absolute shitfest. Probably will give it a miss next season!

It only takes them to share the Arena again and it's back on ! ....
They could sign on for a year whilst they knock up a stand on the little bit that they are allowed to build on ..... is that the same Blueste from into the blue ? Darrens Dad ?

Though i'd never know if any on here did, but I wonder if any Hartlepool fans celebrated when Darlo went down with their tails now firmly between their legs.

They've done alright with him in charge though strangely tailed off towards the end of the season when it was completely the opposite when he managed us.
