Lets name names in the form of nominations for the "Worse Ref of the Season "Award

And my nomination goes to John Busby
Fortunately we have only encountered this inapt official once but his performance in our home game against Forest Green Rovers will live in my memory for the whole of the off season. In all the years of watching football I have never seen a referee who bottled decisions as much as this guy. Had this man had the slightest idea FGR could have been down to 7 men after 70 minutes. Some of the decisions he did make, such as giving Tranmere a free kick for an obvious elbow to the face on Jake Kirkby by a player who had already been booked and failing to give him a red card, were laughable quite frankly.

Special mention also goes to Ryan Johnson for his MOTM performance for Eastleigh at Prenton Park and his inability to see one of the greatest one handed saves of the season by a Chester defender in the Derby at the Deva and Adrian Holmes for being the most consistently awful referee I have seen in his various Tranmere games

Over to you guys.......

Simon Bennett. He works in a Macclesfield school yet they still let him referee us.

Elizabeth Simms and NO I am not being sexist.

The most inept performance ever seen at the Impact Arena for many a year.

Still baffled to this day how see reached the decisions she did

Another for Huxtable. He was appalling again last Saturday.

EDIT: I see he has Welling v Borehamwood on Saturday. Perfect.

A few specific cases aside, I think more notable has been more poor and weak performances by the assistants this season. They seem incapable of making a decision at times leaving the referee on his own to decide on a throw in or a penalty/goal decision which is frustrating.

It'd be easier if we just listed the referees who haven't been awful.

Dean Treleaven has been particularly shite, as was John Brooks in the Grimsby game and Simon Bennett is a disgrace too

Agree with the above. Craig Hicks and one of his assistants were abysmal when we played down at Welling.

Bennett was superb in our game against Grimsby .. and we lost .. so no bias. He was the best i've seen this season and just let the game flow.

Complete opposite of what we saw of him, lost control of the game pretty quickly and was so inconsistent. Made some bizarre decisions

I third this. Easily the worst ref I've ever seen.
Totally agree useless and I'll raise you an Ollie Yates.
Treats every game like friendly from what I've seen of him. Despite Alty no.4 kicking the crap out of most of the Lincoln side and having been booked for his first offence(he should of seen red for that!) instead sending him after his third bad challenge asked the Alty bench to sub him!!! Did similar in the Gateshead game at our place, letting the Gateshead left back get away with 2 bad fouls before finally booking him on the third bad foul.
Way too lenient!

Fair enough. Never been like that for us though. He always seems to give free kicks for very little reason and is one of those refs who enjoys sending people off. It just shows how inconsistent the refereeing in this division is.

We had John Busby a couple of weeks back against Grimsby, and he was excellent, let the game flow and kept his cards in his pockets. The fact it finished 4-3 was largely down to him allowing the players just to get on with it.

Adam Smith.

Saw him at Brighouse v Mossley last Saturday, made some awful decisions and had absolutely no control over the game whatsoever. Resulted in a scrap in the last few minutes.

For referees who have reffed Halifax matches, I'll say Ian Hussin. Pretty much the same reason as Adam Smith, minus the scrap.

Hussin's one of those refs who takes the rules absolutely word for word. No small amount of shirt pulling in the area goes by without him giving a penalty, despite the fact that no other ref penalises it.

I agree with the OP regarding officials at Tranmere games. John Busby out of his depth and lost control, while we've the totally inconsistent Adrian Holmes for the final game of the league.

Simon Bennett was good in the two games on Wirral, while I was also impressed with Adam Bromley in the home Welling game and we lost that one.

Anybody remember this guy:

He was that bad he would've fitted in perfectly down here, saying that he had some big balls though:

That was the problem with him at during the Tranmere Forest Green game. He kept his cards in his pocket and allowed the Forest Green players to get on with a catalogue of out and out thuggery.

they must have toughened up since their game at Barrow - they were more prima donas than thugs. There main tactic after going ahead was trying to time waste from about 30 mins onwards.

Got to be Brett Huxtable.

Honourable mention for Robert Whitton due to his performance when we were away at Welling this season.
